Just put buttons on it then. It'll take up less space that way, and those of us who do play keys can just keep using the controllers we like.
@crnkmnky
@crnkmnky Жыл бұрын
Some early synthesizer pioneers were totally against synths having piano keyboards, because it already taints our perception of what the thing is… what it's for… how to use it. We take it for granted that _all_ keyboard players understand and like using synths. That wasn't the case at first. Many 70's players saw it as an expensive alien box, disguised as an electric organ. More abstract controls might be cool, but no other interface style has gained traction. Maybe that could change with the new MPE controllers…

Logic Pro X 10 debuted in 2013 for $199 on the Mac and has had Free updates for over 10 years with no new charges, So I'm not mad at the $50 a year to use my iPad on the go. Logic 5 platinum was the first one I bought and it was $1400 for just the DAW and Logic 6 came out 2 years later for $1200 so if you are mad at $50 a year then you are too young to remember how much this software use to cost!!

Proud to say that I'm 100% TE-free. They're right on up there on the "pointlessly trendy" shelf, right next to the long-promised yet vaguely -physically-missing Korg 2600 FS and Behringer's 738,204 various pieces of vaporware. Oh, and whatever expensive AF derivation of the Motif Yamaha's about to squeeze out at the latest NAMM while a CS-80 sits over in the corner, reminding everyone of when Yamaha used to make some damn serious electronic music gear. Just keep that in mind the next time someone tries to sell you a new Yammy MODXSXOP-88 Mk II AWM retread for $3k+. I could go on, but I feel the need to bash my head against a wall. Several times.

I don’t know why you would want to produce on an ipad since you can just use a laptop…with more performance, a trackpad, keyboard, and very similar in size. Not only that, a laptop is way easier to work on…I don’t get it. I only use tablets for ebooks and streaming videos. Now, if they made this logic pro software available on an iPhone…that would be a much different conversation we’re having. That would be dope

I have a desktop and an iPad Pro, no laptop. Trackpads and bluetooth keyboards work on iPads, and the apple announcement said that Final Cut would have the same shortcuts as the desktop, so keyboard support for Logic wouldn't be out of question. I've tried a few other DAWS on iPad and they all suck, the only decent one imo is GarageBand. I'm actually stoked for this. Literally drawing automation curves with the Apple Pencil is what sold me. There are also some really cheap/free Auv3's in the App Store that as far as I can tell don't have a VST alternative. I've also seen a lot of ports of desktop VSTs on the App Store. Sad to say they'll probably get my $5 a month, Sorry for the fanboying

@@wyatt199x3 Ahh but what you have right there, the iPad pro, is already kind of like a laptop 😂 okay I can see the appeal now. It is probably targeted at the ipad pro people, which makes sense. And as you said it should be pretty fun to draw automations with the pen and still have access to the keyboard and mouse functions. That should make for an interesting workflow. As for the auv3 stuff I have a bunch of it on my iphone and yeah they’re getting better and better! If you haven’t already, look up Drambo and AUM for ios. They’re not like a traditional daw(drambo is closer to it) but they’re still viable and fun options for mobile production!

It's great to be able to make all these sounds without being infront of the computer then just sync it with your DAW. Arturia gives you Minifreak VST free and it takes like 5 seconds to sync and you can use all the sounds you made. The only downside I have with it is that it needs A/C connection to power on, even if you have USB connected. ~y arturia it's 2023~

The basic difference between subscription of streaming services like Netflix and subscription of music production software/plugins is that we don’t earn money through Netflix; but we do from software/plugins. So basically us having to pay monthly for something that gets you money and lose access to everything if you don’t is not very promising. Also, subscription is a trap to lock you into an ecosystem and to never let you explore others.

Teenage Engineering = the Balenciaga of electronic music. Seriously, tho...the touchplate keyboard on the Microfreak is actually a pretty old concept, dating all the way back to Don Buchla and the first system he built for the San Francisco Tape Music Center c. 1963. The idea is that you can get a lot of signals out of human control if you're willing to use them. Regular keyboards give you on, off, and note#. Touchplates, however, can give you loads of minute changes to route all over for extra uses; the Microfreak touchplates can actually do very involved expression work, including the coveted polyphonic aftertouch. But you do need to get used to them. A couple of tips: 1) wash your hands prior to playing the Microfreak. This helps to make sure that the touch responses are pretty uniform each time you use it. 2) Don't play the Microfreak when physically stressed, like after running or a workout. Again, this will result in inconsistent controller behavior from your physiological state affecting the controller response. And... 3) Touchplates are NOT keyboards. Instead, if you deal with them on their own terms, you wind up with a controller that can boggle the mind from its responsiveness...but playing it like a black-n-white means you're just scratching the surface. Try doing some shit that piano instructors go into conniption fits over...the potential rewards are there, 100%. So what about that new $750 Teenage Engineering Slinky? Generic transducer and contact mic from AliExpress + metal slinky...cost around $20 but the TE boxes and logos and crap add another...uhhh...$730. Yeah. Next up from the Supreme of electronic music: the Teenage Engineering TE-W2!!! It looks like an ordinary 2-meter 1/4" cable...and it IS! Only $299!!! Sure, you can get the same damn thing on Amazon for $1.98, but we've added...OUR LOGO!!! This of course necessitates the increased cost as the present-day TE logo demands that minor pricing premium...so, the extra $297.02 of course MUST be charged because...TEENAGE ENGINEERING!!! WOOOOO!!! Meh.

advancer plugin would work great if it can go back a bit more in miliseconds for lets say you have a kontakt library flute for example running on one track ok. Your legato and short staccato notes have different offsets.. i duno if you can do this in your DAW. But I can add plugin fx to single midi items. So basically I could put a split where needed to make midi items cut up and then place this plugin to get exact offset times. This is if i was using that flute and keyswitching , either that or you gotta put on the metronome and drag the notes back all zoomed in using nudge till it sound right, which is not really that hard to do.. A lot of Kontakt sample libraries like Brass, Woodwinds, Strings, anything recorded with real instruments, usually has a little offset in the samples, anywhere from 60ms to 250ms. Some companies provide a PDF file when you get the kontakt library it is in the folders you downloaded. A lot of ppl don't know this and do not read them. A lot of companies give you their offset times in these PDF files. Cinematic Studio Series specifically give all their offset times. They are a great company, all their libraries just work together right out of the box cuz they all recorded in the same place. The kontakt interface is nice and easy to use too for all their stuff. Big fan of that company, anyway, I can rant about DAW stuff forever.

kinda cute that you haven't heard of negative delay before :3 just kidding. i know that it's not relevant to most beatmakers, but just so you know this is a widely used technique when mixing rock music. drums, bass, guitars, it is used everywhere. cause you always have a lot of mics recording the same thing and then you mix them together and try to phase align them. and well, you sometimes have to shift things forwards or backwards in time for that. not by an amount of ms that you can hear, sometimes not even 1ms, but just a few samples. it makes a huge difference. If you're interested in seeing that in action I made a stream lately called "Mixing Stream [Darien Geep]"

Just press the tiny little D to the right on your master track to open it up. No need to insert a VST and everything. Cubase has it too. But I'm not sure what the max is. Can't be bothered to open it up for a youtube comment too tbh. But yeah, plugin is pretty much just a default DAW feature. There's plugins that do sample alligned stuff, but you can just dump em on all tracks and it'll automatically do it too. So even for the niche applications it's just... not as good as what already exists.

I mean i dont use Logic, i'm a Cubase cat. But 50$ a year to have Alchemy on my iPad Pro that's just a bargain. And we not talking about all the Logic instruments who are REALLY great. So yeah!

What’s dumb is they’re showing people use Logic on iPad in a studio setting. That’s not how 99% of people are going to use it.

You don't use logic so I should tell you that they've updated a ton!!! since I bought it 7 years ago with no paid upgrades. new samplers. new synths. added a step sequencer that can export to midi. updated the bit depth of the bus system. one of the best $250 I ever spent.

Wow, they have an export to midi option?? 😮 It's almost like fl or ableton!.. But 15 years late 😂

mascine has had midi output forever. logic I use like a tape recorder. I'm mostly hardware. midi isn't cv. I was just saying the logic samplers are damn good.

@@user-lp9qj7ul1g Logic is like the same price as FL and Cheaper than Ableton, and the UI & stock plugins don't look like they're designed designed by a Forrest Gump type. Also it's pretty much always been able to export midi, bro said the STEP SEQUENCER now exports midi. It does not surprise me that someone that uses so many emojis has the reading comprehension of a medieval farmer. Please let me know how the FL mobile experience is, I'll go to your funeral when you sudoku yourself after you realize its as intuitive as banging ur mom

Why do companies and artists release products with "wholesome" thoughts of wanting everyone to experience the gear but have it be expensive asf😂 it just seems like the exact opposite of wanting everyone to experience it.

how is that exception, lol? wake up. Everybody adds stuff to their subs. It is still a sub. But as far as I know you don't have to buy Upgrade plan for Bitwig if you don't need it, so why you even brought that up in the first place?
