Brother I just noticed cd baby is claiming half of my publishing BUT I NEVER SIGNED UP WITH THEM i distribute my music thru Distrokid, Tunecore and Amplitude but yet i see that cd baby is claiming half of my stuff when i never signed up for them nor distribute with them... I wrote to SOCAN my PRO and waiting for a response i'm truly baffled right now this is str8 up fraud man

Great presentation! If I form an LLC, to be a publisher (I write, produce, perform, and record my own stuff) and I go through CD Baby for publishing administration, am I allowed to grant a license to another publisher, or does CD baby have control? To elaborate, I write some gospel music and the publisher that puts out hymnals nationwide for my church accepts submitted material. If signed to a publishing admin deal with CD Baby, have I relinquished my ability to do this? I have not released anything as of yet. I am registered as a songwriter with BMI, and I am also registered as a songwriter and artist with Song Exchange. I also registered a composition under a PA and two SR’s with the copyright office. I don’t mind learning and doing the work, but my ignorance is what I am worried about as far as doing my own publishing administration. I definitely will be downloading your documents and taking a look. I read some books and have fumbled through many KZbin videos over the past few months. What I liked about your presentations is that you get into actual contract language. Thank you!

it all depends in this industry. In my opinion its not. If you're small and if you are pulling in at least 3k a month on music streaming i wouldn't even use CD baby as a Publishing admin i would go bigger or do the admin myself. Check out my book the musicians guide to self publishing down below.
