I received a "Release Form" from a radio station to play my gospel song but they specifically stated I would not receive any royalties from sources like BMI & ASCAP - they just want to play the song for promotional purposes only. Should I sign the release, although I will not receive royalties but just promotion?

Great channel bud. I have a question: When signing a Publishing deal, what is to be expected from the people you've signed it to? What could/should they be doing and to what extent, in terms of exploitation or anything benefitial for the artist?

A publishers job is to exploit the composition and collect the royalties due from said exploitation. The exploitation could be placing the composition on a recording artist, getting it place in TV/Film, getting it printed as sheet music, etc. Anything relating to that puts them in good standing. If they don't have a great track record keep it moving or if there is no track record tell them to start with administration only. Keep in mind the publisher server the writer and the composition only THEY DO NOT PROMOTE OR EXPLOIT THE ARTIST.

I hope this get a reply so I am wondering. Just so you know I am in Ghana(Africa). So after recording a song supposing I want to use tunecore to place them online. Do I copyright it first before submitting?
