As a swiftie - I believe there's no problem at all with not loving any kind of music the same way another person does. So I don't think your opinions are insulting in any capacity. I was happy to see you guys reviewed this because I appreciate you simply giving it a chance with an open mind. Taylor has even talked about those "bubblegum" songs, like when she wrote shake it off and said it is so annoying, but thats the smart business woman in her knowing it will trend in pop culture. Thats not where her true genius lies. It's in her storytelling and her brain and the fact she writes, directs, produces, plays the instruments, etc.
@MizukiLovesDraco Жыл бұрын
Wasn't "shake it off" also largely created as a diss track to people saying she is a bad dancer, at least that's why the music video became what it did?

“My tears ricochet”is a wonderful song! She talks about what the song is about before she plays it if you watch the long pond studio session! Love your reactions and hope you’ll do some more Taylor!! She is SO talented!:)

You're right about the "bubble gum" songs. Taylor even calls them "glitter gel pen" songs. The thing about her is she's not just one thing. Her hit songs are usually the glitter gel pen or stadium songs, which are meant to be performed in front of 80k people or consumed by the masses on radio or streaming. After watching both of your Taylor reactions, I'm very curious to see what your reaction to "Don't Blame Me" from the Reputation Tour might be. Trying to figure out, based on your tastes, what direction to steer you -- because Taylor has content for everyone, truly. It's ok if you don't like a song; you don't have to like everything! We just want you to give her an honest chance. :)

I'm glad to see this comment bc I came here to say all this, as well. Especially about Taylor's "glitter gel pen songs". Lol, but you're absolutely correct that bringing someone on a Taylor journey is a delicate process and you have to understand that person's preferences in order to do it effectively.

It's easy to forget she's been writing and singing since she was about 14 years old. Let's not forget that the life experiences of a teenager is vastly different from an adult. Sure, she wrote the 'glitter gel pen' songs, but recall back to being that age.... life was a glitter pen experience! As she has aged and matured, her music has reflected that, often showing the pain and heartbreak we've all experienced. She's certainly coming into her own.

You would probably love a lot of Taylor’s music that are not the radio singles since she is a very deep person and writes very clever lyrics. She has a bunch of different genres and plays so many instruments. I think you would enjoy her live performances best over her music videos and probably her serious songs over her happy songs. I just started listening to her this year so would love to watch you discover songs of hers that you enjoy like I did :) Thanks for giving her another chance and I value your honest thoughts and opinions. I have found you never to be mean or cruel even when you say you don’t care for something. :)

I loved how this song conveys the pain a couple faces during the breakdown of their relationship. Their communication just not gelling enough to save them. They coveyed the emotions beautifully!

She’s interesting because a lot of her fans are fans because of her songs that aren’t the radio hits. You ask a swiftie what their top 5 TS songs and the radio hits are rarely on the lists. Folklore (where this song is from) and its sister album Evermore were her quarantine albums that she surprised everyone with and they’re two of her best albums lyrically.

Taylor has been making “mature” songs since the beginning of her career

You'll love all her Long Pond Sessions versions. It was a documentary she did all in this same style. You'll generally like Evermore and Folklore albums it sounds like though. Both written and recorded in the pandemic and all from sort of a place of isolation. Mostly very scaled down. Kind of folk albums.

Like her or not, the one thing one can’t say about her (not accurately anyway) is that she has one sound Few artists have been as courageous about changing their sound through the years. And yes when she was in her teens, she was a teeny bopper. In her 30s…she isn’t 😂
@NYandAZ7 ай бұрын
She was 30 in 2020 during the pandemic when this album was made. This year ion 13-December, she will turn 35. Her fantastic album “1989” is named that because it’s the year that she was born.

You are right, the songs that pop up on tv and radio are usually catchy songs but (in my opinion) her worst. You would probably like a lot of her sadder/slower songs. I recommend My tears ricochet (presumably about her old label stealing her music), Bigger than the whole sky, Champagne problems, Wildest Dreams (Grammy museum version). She writes her own lyrics and for some of the songs it’s important to really listen to them in order to appreciate them.
@Violet316 Жыл бұрын
Pop is the word you are looking for, Taylor's 1989 album is all pop, but it is not totally bubble gum. Even her pop songs have stories in them, whereas today's pop is just a lot of repetitiveness and little subject matter. I feel like you guys are struggling with today's Taylor versus old Taylor. Taylor has 10 studio albums and they are all different, she does not stay with one genre. Bon Iver is a band, the guy singing is Justin Vernon is in Bon Iver. You really should listen to the studio version of Exile.

Thank you for your honest reaction! If you’re interested in trying out more of her “mature sound”, I would recommend the folklore and Evermore albums. Also, something that’s worth checking out from her younger years is her Grammys performance of the song “All Too Well”. It’s one of her most famous songs and, even though she was very young when she wrote it, it’s nowhere close to a bubble gum pop song. Have a good day!

He may like the album version better as the piano is softer. I’m not a fan of any of her radio songs but I adore her and she has amazing songs. Would’ve could’ve should’ve is my current favourite but You’re Losing Me is up there too.

I actually loved this reaction because I like your guys honesty! One thing you should know about Taylor is she writes all of her own music and considers herself a songwriter above anything else. I'm not sure what your taste in music is but her folklore and evermore albums would be best suited to you guys if you don't particularly enjoy pop music. I'd highly recommend checking out "My tears ricochet" from the folklore album or "champagne problems' from the evermore album. Both are beautiful songs that I think you might enjoy!

Be careful going down the Taylor Swift rabbit hole. She literally has stuff in every genre and the lyrical writing she does is next level. I’m a 58 year old male that grew up on 70’s rock and funk. I made fun of Taylor until I started digging to see what the fuss was about. Now I’m hooked. She is amazing. By the way she writes all her songs. Some have co writers but many don’t.
