I have often told others that she is one of the greatest vocalists in the world today. Rolling Stone Magazine went further by putting her on their 200 Greatest Singers of All Time. But like you have said or inferred, that description doesn't even cover it. There a sense or feeling when listening and watching her performance that there is something more to that she is giving or providing, something you can't explain. She is a very special person. And I strongly recommend that you check out some of her behind the scenes videos where you get to see the person. They usually run linger but are worth it and she will amaze you in a totally different way. If the behind the scenes video is of a concert on the road, IU will often take a camera back to her hotel room. And its like she is having a conversation directly with you, no make-up no custom no body else around. The first time I watched one of these I was floored. I wondered how many other young female stars would allow a video on themselves without make-up to be filmed let alone aired, let alone filmed by them. Considering that I have never seem one pretty much gave me my answer. Another aspect of these videos is how so many of her staff are in them, make-up, wardrobe, dancers, staff etc. You need to react to The Vistor from the Love Poem concert.

Trivia about this song... It's my understanding, it's, supposedly, about her life journey being like a sea voyage. I heard that it was the 8th song on the album because that's her favorite number, and, her perfermance of the song is 5 minutes and 16 seconds long, because, 5/16 is her birthday.

Towards the end of the performance, you can see IU smiling whilst she is performing. I like to believe that this is because, whilst singing 'My Sea' (which is about her life), she is feeling a sense of accomplishment. All of her hard work and perseverance over the years had lead to that very moment in time.

You should watch the behind the scenes video of the concert, as she says words to that effect - this was a big, final goal of hers. But she came to the realisation that this was just part of her journey and her new goal is to continue singing 'until she can't sing anymore'. She definitely gets fulfillment from it, which is great to see.

Yeah Zooty, I've thought the same as you; like when you said she's right up there with the likes of Whitney Houston and some of the greatest all-time female singers. She's super popular, yet it's a shame she doesn't get a lot of exposure in the U.S.A. and perhaps Europe. Some people are really missing out on IU's incredible vocals.

She’s a treasure, that’s why people have to find her themselves, majority of her music calms your soul, it’s not for everyone but when you fall for her music, you really treasure her.

You may want to search IU collab songs playlist sometime… and with a little digging find like 25 or 30 videos… she has so much stuff out there, it’s a little hard to find, but so many live clips and stages with other artists, some with less than 1 or 2 million views… all great songs

She is a person who has endured unspeakable pain and difficulties, overcome them, and matured. Sometimes singers express their love for their fans with insincere words and actions, but IU's love comes from the heart, and her fans can feel it even if she doesn't say it. Being a 'singer' who brings comfort and happiness to people is a precious treasure that she will never trade for anything.
