It is telling that most reviewers don't pick up on the exact sound that B B King had . Which is a very difficult feat in an of itself. I saw B B live in Sag Harbor NY and it was a great show. Could not be happier that Joe includes these tunes of course his own blues style is killer.

If you haven’t already heard it you should check out Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart do a cover of Etta James’ I’d Rather Go Blind. Joe makes the guitar cry. I was Lucky enough to see B B King perform a few times. When Joe was about 13 he toured with B B King. I just subscribed 👍

The singer that took the solo is Mahalia Barnes, daughter of Jimmy Barnes. Jimmy is a rock icon in Australia. If you haven't heard anything of his or his band "Cold Chisel", you should check them out. This was the final show in the "3 Kings" tour, featuring the music of B.B. King, Freddie King, and Albert King. My favorites from this show are "Angel of Mercy" and "Hummingbird"

I love Joe B. He is one of a group of child prodigy blues guys, started playing professionally at 13 in the mid 90's. Of course you already know Derek Trucks started pro gigs at 11. Another one is Johnny Lang amazing talent first record deal at 14 didn't start tour until 16. I saw him that year 1997 and he was amazing. "Lie To Me" and "Walking Away" live in Germany 1999 are good performances to check out.

Joe isn't just a guitar player. Look him up on KZbin some more. The song you reacted to was the last concert from the 3 King's tour. Tribute to Freddie King, Albert King and BB King. It's not his usual music. He started guitar at 4. Opened for BB King during the whole summer when he was 12. He has 45 albums and last I checked I believe 25 #1 blues albums. He plays all styles of music. Check him out he's amazing. Calling him a guitar player is like calling a canon a bullet. ❤

ZOOTY: I went to a lounge show at Harrah's Casino in Tahoe in the 90s wherein the Bus Boys did a set of music, including their hit song from the Eddie Murphy movie you mentioned. Their hit song, from the movie, was titled, "The Boys Are Back in Town." I remember it well. However, this boogie-woogie type of music is just a small sample of just one of many different kinds of music Joe Bonamassa plays. Overall, he's much less like The Bus Boys than the impression you get from this one song. Check out his performance of 'Woke Up Dreaming' live at the Beacon Theater to see what I'm talking about or 'Blues Delux Live at the Royal Albert Hall,' or his studio recording of 'Redemption' wherein he doesn't sound anything like The Bus Boys, but much better.

Joe openly admits his biggest influence was Gary Moore and there are a lot of comparisons to be drawn between them. Love to see you react to Gary Moore at the Fender Anniversary show doing a cover of Jimi Hendrix Red House. It tore the roof off.

He actually says Clapton, Kassoff and Eric Johnson but that many others have as well in every interview I have seen. Doesn't mean he didn't mention it along the way but he has said many times it's the 3 mentioned above.
