There's SO much great Aurora material to recommend. Honestly, anything from Nidarosdomen will be amazing. But because you're a music teacher, the two I'll single out are....the one and only performance of Soulless Creatures she did live with the Bergen Orchestra. It's mesmerizing. And....the Currents live performance of It Happened Quiet, which is one of the best demonstrations of how subtlety can convey power in music that I've ever witnessed. That one is ALL about nuance...micro gestures, both musical and physical. It's a powerful haunting performance. Have fun! It's impossible to go wrong falling down the Aurora rabbit hole.

It touches my soul so hard, so beautiful.I've seen her live in 2016 and she did this song too, and many cried in the audience including me. I love her angel voice. Just cry if you need, it's healthy. That's also what she said, emotions need to be express.

She wrote this in 2015 as a last minute addition to her first album. Aurora is a true artist. Her voice is pure magic. She's written some of the best English lyrics I've ever heard, despite that not being her first language. On top of the talent, she fiercely confident in what she is trying to accomplish, while being the most transparently genuine famous person I've ever seen. I'm a 42 year old fanatic about classical, metal, and blues (used to play alto and tenor sax too) from Texas, and she is hands down my favorite vocalist on the planet today.

She is the one who wrote this song. It is one of her most beautiful... among so many others. This whole concert is really, really worth seeing. Maybe another of her songs will end up letting you shed those tears, so that their river joins the ocean. Oh yeah, she sings that in "The River" too (not in this concert I think). The River is really beautiful in the HAIK concert. But her music video is stunning and very moving. With Aurora, I think you have to watch the music video and the live performances. It's in the live shows that she's the best... but The River, or The Seed, or Runing with the wolf... their music videos are almost indispensable. Whoua... you have a lot of work ahead of you... And a lot of fans too : I think warrios and weired, Aurora fans, always enjoy seeing new people discovering their queen of heart. : )

Here in Australia we have a national radio station (Triple J) that's geared towards the younger demographic (like around 15-30). Every Friday they have a guest artist come in and do a live original and a cover. A few years ago Aurora was the guest and she played her song "The Seed". I remember being taken aback by her voice, the lyrics, the harmonies, hell, the whole damn thing. And then she did an amazing cover of The Beatles' "Across the Universe" which was just as brilliant. I promptly forgot about her until a couple of months ago when the video for her Triple J performance of "The Seed" popped up on my timeline. "Oh yea," I thought, "I remember this." I watched it and was as blown away as I was the first time I heard it. It prompted me to go down the Aurora rabbit hole, and damn, I have spent so much of the last couple of months in tears, happiness, and utter, utter awe at how amazing she is. Truly a phenomenal artist.

She writes all of her music and only does a few covers. Her drummer Magnus and guitar player O Martin offer suggestions. She produces her music as well. You better have tissues available because she does mostly sad dark music. I have an obsession with her music and her interviews. Most people thnk of her as an angelic princess from the Fjord of Light Norway. Katy Perry considers her one of her favorite artists and Billie Eilish said after she saw Aurora''s "Runaway" video she decided to start her music career. .

Hi Jennifer, I'm glad you like AURORA. She has such different songs. At first there were many sad ones (It Happened Quiet). Then some who are almost combative (The seed). And now there are also love songs from her (Exist For Love). But the lyrics are extremely important to her. And in this video the location alone, the cathedral, with its acoustics, is very important for the effect. Goosebumps and shivers all over my body - every single time I hear this song. For me this is a masterpiece. So much feeling that AURORA brings to this song. This song must mean a lot to her. And the statement is simple and a commonly known truth. And yet as adults, at least most of us, we lose sight through the eyes of a child. I wish AURORA that she never grows up in that sense. Then we will continue to get such beautiful songs from her. We need someone to keep reminding us of this simple truth. AURORA is very close to nature. There are two very unusual concerts by AURORA. One is in the Cathedral Nidarosdomen and the other in a forest where she played a lot as a child. The concert (HAIK) in the forest was organized by NRK TV. But it's not just a concert. They surprised AURORA with different things for a whole day. She was supposed to do a small concert (only 1 song) in front of two fans. Pure emotions, I can tell you that. Then a singer, Ane Brun, sang a song by AURORA just for her. Then another surprise and finally the concert in the forest (7 songs, approx. 40 minutes), which in itself is amazing, fantastic, enchanting... The most important thing about the documentary (38 minutes) are the interviews that are conducted in the car on the way. There you can learn a lot about AURORA. - AURORA HAIK Full Version - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJDYiGBmfamKpcU - approx. 1h:16m The songs are also all available in individual KZbin videos. But the effect of a whole concert is gigantic. Disclaimer to the HAIK- Interview: Interviewer: Aurora, how would you describe your upbringing? AURORA: I grew up in a very free environment. I was given the freedom to be exactly what I wanted. When I brought home some fantasy friends, Mom and Dad covered them on the table. I got respect when I didn't want to celebrate my birthday. "OK, that's fine." No pressure to change me from home. No need for tags or diagnostic or... Just completely free. I didn't think much about what I was. Why I felt a little different. I didn't think much of it. It's strange when people have to think about something being wrong. Interviewer: When did you realize that others might see you as a little different? AURORA: I didn't think of it until that in 7th grade, maybe. Then it was something that we took such a Mensa (IQ) test. I remember being teased by someone for getting very good results. They said it was because... And then they laughed a little to themselves. I wondered why they laughed at it. Then they laughed, because they thought they "understood" that I was autistic. Because I was weird. It was probably the first time someone laughed at me. The worst thing was that I didn't understand why it was funny. So I didn't understand why they laughed. And it was very disgusting to notice that they realized I didn't understand why they laughed. I felt very outside, in such a way that I didn't understand. Or that they assumed I didn't understand. Just like I couldn't understand that they were rude. Don't get me wrong and think I had a bad childhood. I had a very good childhood. Had a great time whit myself. More like that on the inside. I felt like I didn't belong. No matter how much i tried. But I am put together in a way that makes it go really well. Have a nice day and Greetings from Germany

ikr? Why even bother picking? Listen/watch them all! Though I think starting from the beginning and watching in order really is the best way to take that concert in. The way it opens with Nature Boy....the stark power of that. The way Lucky is sort of the emotional crescendo of the entire evening. And then Life on Mars brings everything back down to a more intimate level. The emotional arc of that concert is expertly constructed and executed.

Happy that you reacted to Aurora and enjoyed her song. She is a great songwriter and producer, and (besides Angelina) my favorite artist. She started to make music from 6 years old and writing English lyrics from 9 years old. And she learned everything by herself without any education. Even her parents did not know she write music (up to 14 years old or something similar as my memory can be wrong by +1 year;) ). Thx for a cool reaction :). Hello, great reaction 🤗 I subscribed for this amazing artist, she’s definitely like no other imo😍 This song is one of her most important songs😊 AURORA (Aurora Aksnes) is a Norwegian singer/songwriter/dancer and music producer. She plays several instruments like piano, guitar, mandolin and harp (what I know of). She’s born on the 15 of June 1996, she’s from a small place in Os outside of Bergen, Norway 🇳🇴 When she was 6 years old she found an electric piano in the attic after her older sister. Because the power button was broken she had to play with only one hand, and she did that for years. She began writing music without lyrics at the age of 6, and with English lyrics at the age of 9. A couple of her songs that she wrote at the age of 9 is some of her most popular songs. They are “Lucky” and “I went too far” Her family didn’t know about her talent until she was about 13 - 14 years old. She’s self taught when it comes to singing and playing piano.🤩😍 You can pick any song from this concert in Nidarosdomen (cathedral in Norway), because it’s so beautiful 💕 Another great performances of hers are: “It Happened Quiet” live at CURRENT This is a song about domestic violence, and in the end she comes back to haunt him. “The Seed” either official video or live at the HAIK concert, or both 😉 It’s a powerful song with an important message, a cry for Mother Earth 🌍💚 Aurora is all about nature, she spent a lot of time alone in the forest growing up. You basically can’t go wrong with Aurora ✌️❤️

Jen - You're getting to know a number of excellent female vocalists, but with the exception of Dimash, not many male voices. Fortunately, there are a few quick fixes for this imbalance...and you can react to them in groups! The best singers occasionally perform a cappella -- no instruments to distract from the quality of their voices and the brilliance of their musicianship. Today, we are blessed with three major performing groups that do nothing BUT a cappella!! They are Home Free, VoicePlay, and Pentatonix. HF is all male, VP's members are all male, but the group frequently features a female guest singer. PTX consists of 4 men and one woman. Here are popular entry points for these three rabbit holes: HF - "Man of Constant Sorrow" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5bakJWce9ulpdU ) VP - "Dream On" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXbdaol8ott6las ) PTX - "Halleleujah" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/goOzaZdtnc2jpbM )

@@jennifersmusicpage PTX won Grammys in 2015 ("Daft Punk"), 2016 ("Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy"), and 2017 ("Jolene", featuring Dolly Parton.) Many of us believe that their cover of "Halleleujah" was just as good as these award-winners. In any case, you should know that all of these performances were recorded while PTX still had its original lineup -- the lineup that won NBC's "The Sing-Off" competition in 2011. In September 2017, Avi Kaplan, the group’s original bass, left the group, and their sound changed. Oh, yes, a word of caution---reactions to PTX videos are often blocked (by SME.) --- Home Free won the 4th season of "The Sing-Off" -- becoming the world's premiere (only?) country music a cappella group! HF is, of course, extremely versatile and has created amazing covers and interpretations of many genres. For example, their remake of the 1966 Soul/R&B hit (by Percy Sledge) "When a Man Loves a Woman" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6HcmIOjm6yErLc ) is (according to many) better than the original. Last year, HF joined Don McLean for a 50th anniversary remake of "American Pie"...and it's EXCELLENT! kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4PPhY2ajr2Wgck The list goes on and on.
