Henk was The Phantom for years in the Netherlands... So he knows this song like the back of his hand! He is evidently a Nightwish fan, and a huge fan of Floor. The crowd didn't know Nightwish was going to perform the song...nor did they know Henk was there at the venue. Oh...just because I had to know how long she help that last note, I timed it with my chronograph watch, and she held it for 12.2 seconds! Floor never ceases to amaze me!!!

Most hardcore NW fans knew that these 2 shows were going to be recorded and Henk was going to do it with the band. This was known since Floor agreed to do BZ and the first Ziggo Dome show was announced.

@@paulriddle7818 well, not really. We knew that Floor promised Henk back in 2019. But we didn't know if Tuomas agreed. I was there, I hoped Henk would be there, but only believed it when I saw him walking on stage. Besides that, they had no opportunity to practice. Due to Floor her illness and Henk having his own shows the Friday and Saturday before the Nightwish shows.

Henk is an accomplished opera and musical theatre singer in the Netherlands (Phantom and Valjean to name a few). Floor saw him as a teenager and since that time adores him. Floor was asked to perform in the TV show "Beste Zangers" which requires an 10 day shoot with no family, managers, just alone with a group of other Dutch singers to sing each other's repertoire and tell about their lives. Floor wanted to decline, until she was told that Henk Poort was in it. She immediately said yes, and asked Henk to perform the Phantom with her on that show. Henk agreed, on the condition that he would be able to sing the Phantom with her during a Nightwish concert in the Netherlands. Floor and Nightwish agreed. Covid came. 2023 came. Promise kept.

First of all ... he is Dutch same as Floor. I have heard that in her teen years she had a poster of him in her room (true or false .. makes for a good story). In 2019 Floor and Henk were part of a Dutch television series called Beste Zangers where they bring in Dutch singers from different genera - rock, folk .. etc etc .. and they take turns each week with one of the singers on the couch with the host and then are serenaded by the other singers with songs that are either from the one on the couch or means something to them. Floor visibly 'Fan Girl'd over Henke". At the last show they sing duets with another singer. Floor sang Phantom with Henke on the show that blew everyone away. He told her he would do it but he would get to sing it with Nightwish. The epidemic put that on hold and in Floor's solo shows he had joined her on stage to sing Phantom and also Dangerous Game from the Jeckle and Hyde musical. This was the first time that Nightwish has done Phantom since their first singer Tarja.

Nice summary. Why is Beste Zangers style show not in the US yet? The show is incredible and a constant tear-jerker for the one in the hot seat. The long version (with intro) of Day 1 with Henke on the hot seat is awesome. Noone knows Floor and they have her start the season. She does a German opera in german with metal...they were all instant fans.

@@don-o-seven1437 I hate to be negative, cause I've wondered why we don't have a Beste Zangers in the USA too... but I think part of it comes down to talent. a lot of popular music these days in the US is performed by entertainers, not musicians. I think they would be really exposed singing live, with no auto-tune, no lip-syncing, no backing tracks, etc. the west does have talent, of course, but I can see a lot of folks turning down their invites as there's nothing good that can come out of it for them... especially considering they need to learn/sing songs not in their own repertoire further exposing their talent, or lack of it.

Over the years I have been able to experience Nightwish live on stage many times, but with Wacken 2013 this concert in Amsterdam was my second magical experience with my favorite band and Floor.And exactly this performance was the absolute highlight of the show!...Floor previously said that she was only at about 85% of her possibilities due to her recovery from cancer treatment - but what the hell could get better???

She was even less than that during the recent 70000 tons cruise. Obviously not feeling well. Still nailed the songs. Despite what she says, most Nightwish songs aren't actually that challenging for her. Her acting and headbanging probably require more energy than singing does. Hopefully she'll have enough time to recover now.

Wonderful how Floor and Henk complement each other. I saw a fan made video showing how the Nightwish band appreciated Henks performance. You can digest it as a music teacher, but it seems magic, these voices together. I am sure five years ago Henk would have not believed he would ever perform with a metal band. He is famous in the Netherlands for his performances as classical baritone in musicals and opera, and has worked also in Germany for opera productions. And he is a wonderful person, always emphasizing that 'good music is good music'.

Hi and thank you for a fantastic analysis! About Henks shirt, its not a tour shirt, it’s not even a band shirt. It’s a fan shirt made by a fan who gave the design to the band. They then proceeded to print them and sell them as merch. So this is his way of ahowing us fans his love. Becuase the Nightwish family has welcomed uncle Henk with open arms. I was actually there that magical night and the roar from the audience when they started playing this song was insane, but when Henk walked on stage it was like the place exploded with joy! Even though he has had an amazing career and given countless performances in front of great audiences I have a hard time believing that he has experienced an entrance like that. And I dont think he has ever had a better backing in terms of musicianship. This was a truly epic performance and it will always be my personal favorite version of POTO.

We love Floor and "Ome Henk" (Uncle Henk). Floor loves Henk since childhood and the Dutch tv-show "Beste Zangers" (2019) made it possible to sing together with her idol and ...... a collaboration was the result on many occasions. I was there, it was epic❣️ I was bouncing up and down when I realized they were doing this! So great hearing them do the Phantom again with the official Dutch Phantom! It was a surprise I sort of counted on because it was promised in Beste Zangers 2019.

As others already mentioned, Nightwish and Floor had planned this to happen some time after Floor and Henk met each other in "Beste Zangers" in 2019. This was planned but not announced to the public. And the fact that Floor could make this GREAT performance considering that this was at the end of their show (only The Greatest Show On Earth left) but after songs like Ghost Love Score - Is AMAZING. Floor was a fan since she was very young and they met during ”beste sangers”. She askes him to do Phantom för that show and he said he do it IF he could do it on stage with nightwish in Amsterdam- and of course she agreed. Nightwish has not done that song for 17 years , and now with Hank they did. It was a surprise for the audience - they were told it was going to be ”greatest show on earth”.

Henk played the Phantom in theaters in the Netherlands and (as far I know) these had a capacity of max +/- 2000 (normally between 800 and 1500 seats).So,Henk is used to venue's that size,but 17000 people in the Ziggo dome would probebly even make him ,a little bit nervous,and than again ,he is a professionel and age matured.

During Henk's and Floor's Beste Zangers performance of Phantom, he surprised everyone by doing a portion of it with a growl in his voice. That sound is a complete no-no in musical theater. He did it to make it sound more metal. You can hear him do it in this version as well. Henk and Floor became friends during that show. You can see the respect both of them have for each other throughout that season. I love seeing them perform together.

This was excellent performance, and also t-shirt reference competition. Tuomas wears "Pan's Labyrinth" shirt, and they sang "in this labyrinth, where night is blind". Henk wears "Nightwish family" -shirt, because he now belongs to the 'family'. A little 'freudian' approach, or what you think? 😅👍

It may seem odd, but what I find particularly impressive about Floor's performance here is her onsets at the end, when she's hitting the high notes. It's hard to say exactly when she starts the notes, they just seem to swell from within her. No harshness whatsover. And Uncle Henk delivers, as always. A stage full of legends.

Her onsets in general are impressive! Most singer need to do some kind of windup for higher notes. But Floor can just whip them out instantly. And it looks so easy, like it’s super easy when in fact it’s so hard that most singers can’t do it.

Well...Henk is a Dutch Phantom. This promise was made in Beste Zangers TV show , that he will sing this song with Floor and Nightwish, when they come to the Netherlands. And this song was a surprise to the fans. Nightwish performed this song last time 17 years ago with Tarja, and now the circle is complete... And that Crowd Roar, when Henk walked on stage, wearing Official "Nightwish Family" T-shirt, but that Floor's last note... it was insane 11 sec. So, the second guitar player: Troy Donockley "The Bard" (is an English composer and multi-instrumentalist most known for his playing of Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone). And Nightwish has a new Bass Player as well : Jukka "Gentle Giant" Koskinen (Yes he is taller than Floor 😉) is a Finnish musician, who is the bassist for the Finnish band Wintersun. He was also the bassist for Norther from 2000 until their disbandment in 2012, for Amberian Dawn from 2010 until 2013, for Cain's Offering from 2009 until 2014 and for Dark Sarah in 2014. In May 2021, he was revealed as Nightwish's session bass player for their world tour in 2021 and 2022, and later joined the band as their new bass player in August 2022. This performance was absolutely electrifying ❤‍🔥!!!!! "Promise made, promise kept" 🤘😎🤘!!!! Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia.

Let me fill you in on a few things. KZbin is extremely tough on music reactors.
