I'll be honest and say that the song's lyrics can be interpreted either way. Yes, the original Studio Killers' video shows Cherry trying to hook up with her best friend Jenny by trying to get her to leave her (albeit cheating) boyfriend El Grande Amigo. This video makes the lyrics darker, in that an obsessive fan switches bodies with a star named Jenny. To me, it can be interpreted as either way. No lesbophobia, no hate, nothing. It's just a different interpretation. Anyone can interpret "I wanna ruin our friendship" however they want, regardless of the original video. If you want an example, take Tom's Dog. Tom's Dog grew into an edgy animation meme despite the song being uplifting. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

Demo maybe I’m just missing something but I struggle to comprehend how a girl telling her friend “I wanna ruin our friendship, we should be lovers instead” could be interpreted as anything else than “sis I’m gay as hell for you”. There’s nothing subtle or vague about these lyrics. And the whole thing about it being about an obsessed fan makes no sense. It’s made clear several times throughout the song that the singer and Jenny are already very close friends. The story, is actually pretty easy to read, I'm not sure what people get confuse, but there are things I question like, why the young girl wants to take the life of Jenny, and how did she get that spell or whatever, but it makes sense, and either way, this is an awesome remix.

The story basically is, this girl with pigtails, (Let's call her Catherine cause a similar girl appeared in another video with the same animator and she had that same name) has been a huge fan of the entertainer "Jenny." You can see by looking at the letter "J" surrounded by a heart on her shirt. However, Catherine doesn't just like Jenny, she wants to be just like Jenny. She goes to her local library and somehow finds an ancient spell that can transfer your body to the person you desire to be the most IF you find them and ONLY if they consent to it. Then Catherine had an idea, an awful idea, Catherine had a wonderful AWFUL idea. She quickly picked up her bag and RAN to Jenny's pre-show signing where she would not only meet Jenny in person, but also have Jenny write her name down on a certain piece of paper... the spell paper. And by doing this, the spell had been casted, Jenny looks around confused and terrified of what just happened, but it's too late, her eyes go wonky and from there, Catherine is Jenny. Jenny wakes up in Catherine's body confused and Catherine, in Jenny's body, excitedly goes onstage, posing as Jenny. (Presumably) The spell specifically states that this can only be done once. Catherine will be Jenny *forever* and Jenny will be Catherine *forever*. How other people in the line did not see this occur is unknown, how a spell like this could even exist in a simple library is unknown, all we know is that these two girls' lives have both been permanently ruined all because of the sin of envy.

Um so, I see quite a lot of comments saying "wow they changed the story of the song" even though the lesbian story of this song was posted in 2015 and this remix was posted in 2013. Some say "It's clearly a lesbian song when they say I wanna ruin our friendship we should be lovers instead" and that's basically it that's the only line they use a lot and I can see where they are coming from but maybe the TLT didn't know it was a lesbian song, even though the words say the "we should be lovers instead" but I mean this argument kinda reminds me of the song Pumped up kicks where you know everyone adored it and then word got spread that it was about a school shooting and now we dare not play the song in school, I think that's basically what happened here, ya know? i had to watch the video like six times so just for anyone else who didn't get it the first time heres the story the girl with pigtails wants to be a popstar like jenny so while she's at the library she looks at a document that can cast some sort of spell that can let you switch minds with someone. the only catch is that both people need to give permission for their minds to be switched. so the girl goes to jenny's pre show signing and poses as an excited fan who wants her autograph using the contract as the paper. She then casted the spell on jenny after getting her to unintentionally agree to switching minds.After successfully switching minds she is at first very nervous but she eventually goes onstage to perform forgetting her old life for her newer and much better life. It's a bit confusing, I get it because I looked at a bunch of different things but the original song is about a girl wanting to confess to her friend they should be in a relationship, the remix makes it seem like she only wants to ruin the friendship because she's angry that her friend got all the fame yet she wanted it(since it is used many times before the drop), and the video corresponds with it. Newsflash: People can still dislike an art style without seeming inconsiderate. And just because something takes a lot of effort and long time to make doesn't automatically make it great. It takes a long time for me to digest my food, but is my shit considered a piece of art? The comments are painful to read. Some people are hateful, while others are trying to take the moral high-ground. In my opinion, the animation is good. I think the problem lies in its concept. The style is inappropriate for the content matter. I think this style of art would be fantastic when used in a comedic fashion, but when used in a emotional and mysterious video, it doesn't fit. But, this is all coming from a viewer, not an animator. Perhaps an animator would sympathize with the creator because they know how long it takes to animate. I understand that. In the end, I think this music video isn't that good because the style distracts me from the sincere story. Other than that, the song itself is amazing :D

I watched the reversed version and I guess this is my simple summary or theory of what happens ... The girl with the pigtails is a huge fan of a singer or pop star named Jenny. She admires Jenny by her singing. One day, the girl goes to a library and finds this spell inside a book and gets this plan where they had to sign it for agreement or something. Meanwhile at the pre-show thing, she tries the evil plan and Jenny thought it was for an autograph but then she ends up signing it, the purple magic thing appears showing some kind of body swap, and now the girl with the pigtails is Jenny. She realizes what she did and gets confused for a while but then when the guards or security calls for her time to sing, she is very, very happy now that she is her idol, Jenny. This might not be accurate but that's what I could make up from it. And at 1:27, wth she be doin' XD

My goodness, another wonderful piece, Tombstone! I absolutely love the remix, moreso than the original (and I'm a big fan of Studio Killers). What really made this amazing was the combination of the video and the music. I can't explain this, but had I heard/seen the remix/animation separately, I would've not been as impressed as I am now. The two mediums compliment each other greatly. To be honest, I was a bit hesitant about the art style, but after watching and rewatching the video, the style fits more and more with each rewatch. I like how the animation told a whole new story and how the music fit the story, creating a whole different mood. I just really cannot express my adoration well enough! Really, good job to both parties involved!
