Why is nobody talking about how the point of the song is that the first two people have the perfect life, yet are wasting it by playing a game with no purpose. Now that I'm older, I can truly understand how deep these songs are. Collecting Cookies is a metaphor for ways of escapism, like drugs, alcohol or any other activity that became an addiction and got out of control even for people that had "everything" in life, just to spare their suffering with low self esteem, perfectionism etc. The Living Tombstone was singing about games but still leaving really deep messages to us, love it so much. Also, "I Hope You Die in The Fire" is also about a broken heart.

I really get a strong sense that the analogy of addiction isnt a far stretch for this song, the first verse is pre-addiction/pre-acceptance the belief that you are different and can be a functional addict, that these things help you live life to your best ability and simply a benefit of that is that it helps you get through your day to day, but slowly the thought creeps into your head that if you keep doing this you'll end up like the rest, but you're different, you'd never end up like them so you keep "collecting cookies" The second verse is full denial and dismissal of responsibility, you begin to seek out your addiction of choice, and people like you and become selfish, you're addiction gives you false confidence and ideas of grandeur form in your head "I am a runner, I'm an athlete", usually despite your mask of confidence you internally feel at an all time low and you believe that the only way to continue is by keeping on the destructive path you're on, you know deep inside that you want to get off and go back to your old life, but it doesnt matter cause you still keep "collecting cookies"

When I was in 6th grade I got a new iPhone (the iPhone 5c in blue) and a few days after I got it I was listening to this song at recess with a couple friends on the far end of the field with a playground ( yes I’m that kid that only had a few friends and we were considered the weird group) we would go out to and the teacher came up and took my phone and emailed my parents that we were listening to music with bad words in it (even though that wasn’t true) and I got grounded for a week with no phone. I looked up this song and all the memories started flooding back in and I’m sad now cause those were the good days.

Rant warning. The hell? How damn invasive does a teacher have to be? It's not like you were blaring it across the field, either... I swear, teachers are so worried about the music we're listening to and if it's "school appropriate." Sure, having music about explicit subjects playing throughout the building wouldn't be the best thing, but that's why we have *headphones.* So the only one that can hear the music is the person that put it on in the first place... ...and yet they STILL care. Like, what the hell is the deal? Why does it matter? Nobody else can hear it. It's not bothering anyone else. It should by no means be their concern and they should mind their own damn business. If the parent is concerned about what their kids are listening to (which reasonably, would be a preteen listening to a song about lust (or whatever's typical in rap today)), then whatever, that's reasonable. They're learning about stuff they shouldn't know about yet. But as for teens, that's pretty much around the age they start to learn about it all naturally. It's not a pure world, and not all music is going to be clean or politically correct (in fact, most of what people listen to today, from my observations, isn't). As adults, they should know that. PS: I had the iPhone 5C as well, in green. Shamefully, it's currently listed as one of Apple's worst. I've switched to Samsung as it allows much more customization with the overall device.
