Always disliked Blink 182 since they got on the radar. BUT Travis is a such a solid drummer and became quite influential. I like to watch his stuff on drum channels, but blink I just can't. The pop punk vocal style is what pushes me away from this kind of music. I've given it a try so many times over the decades, and as much as I can appreciate good lyrics and good playing, can't do more than a couple of songs every now and then.

What’s baffling is that it hasn’t always been this bad. I’ve seen Drake three times (please don’t judge) and he’s gotten progressively worse each time. Not planning on seeing him again, but there used to actually be reason to go to his shows. 2014 was a joint tour with Lil Wayne, he actually did rap/perform most of the songs and put on an overall great show. It also helped that this when his discography was at its best and the songs performed were almost all from Take Care or Nothing Was the Same. 2016 joint tour with Future, same deal with maybe a little more reliance on the crowd. 2019 with Migos was the last straw, it’s the style you see today; jarring to watch and just flat out bad. Not to mention Migos were bad as well but his performances took a massive nosedive around 2017-2019 and it’s gotten even worse since to the point where he now just doesn’t perform at all and just jumps around/lets the crowd sing everything.

My wife really wanted to see Weezer live 3 years ago, and since (my fave band ever) Pixies opened, I was good with it. Hands down, the Pixies set was the worst example of stage presence I’ve ever seen. Black Francis was bored the whole time, and we all sat down half way through the show as the boredom spread to us. PS. Weezer blew me away. Definitely better in concert than recorded.

Frank Black and The Catholics in the 1990s was the best concert I've ever seen, out of 100s of shows. I saw them 3 times. Frank did the Bowery Ballroom in Brooklyn and the stage presence was unbelievable. He used timing to create suspense. He doesn't dance, and he speaks sparingly, but he and the band rocked the house like no other. He gave each song his all, sweating profusely while belting out banger after banger.

Quite ironically, “Weird Al” Yankovic (a PARODY artist) puts on awesome concerts and has a stage presence that rivals that of anyone else. Al’s vocals are always right on point, and his backing band (which has been together for 40+ years, with the exception of his keyboardist Ruben, the “new guy” who joined in the early 90’s) can master any genre from Gangsta Rap to Polka. Al is currently on tour with a scaled-back version of his show for his hardcore fans, but normally his concerts are big multimedia experiences, with at least a dozen costume changes, special effects, and big screens on the stage. So next time Weird Al is in your area, do yourself a favor and see him!

Callum Donovan he’s actually been doing that bit for over a decade. It “used” to be fun to be on stage with the band, but nowadays it’s just cliche to match his less than stellar voice, and so he can cop out of singing songs in their entirety. He used to be so good back in the day when it was just about the music.

As someone who enjoyed 30STM album 1-4, I was absolutely disappointed in the new America album. Despite this, I went to see them live and was further let down. They mostly played the new album, and almost every song they sang was a sing-a-long and the performance was filled with crowd pandering. I enjoyed the vocals on some of their This is War material, but that small pleasure wasn't a thing live because Jared basically refused to hit those notes and found excuses to do other things instead. In fact, I don't believe they played a lot of material from their previous albums.

The best live band was the legendary Canadian Band Rush. I have seen every legendary classic rock groups in concert, but no one ever put on a better show and sounded the most like their studio recording than Rush. I saw them 32 times and would still never miss a tour if they hadn’t retired and Neil Peart, the best rock drummer of all time, die (RIP). The fact that their music was far more ambitious to play than the average group, each musician playing multiple instruments at the same time, makes them that much better and more amazing to watch. Often called the world’s smallest orchestra since it was only three guys who sound fuller than most six piece bands. Unfortunately, any young fans, just discovering Rush on KZbin, will never get the awesome experience of seeing those guys live. Even many other talented musicians from famous bands are fans of Rush and all of them say they were the hardest working band in the world. Love them or hate them, no other band cared more for their fans and worked harder to put on the best shows possible.

@@clownnookie I was fortunate enough to see them live 32 times. I never missed a tour starting with Permanent Waves. Everyone of them are the best concerts I have ever been to and I saw most every great classic rock band, from Led Zeppelin to The Who, but every Rush show tops them all. No other band worked as hard and were so perfect live than those three guys were. Even most other members of famous bands had made quotes about Rush being the hardest working band. It was obvious how hard those three guys worked once you saw them live. Their music was far more challenging than any other band, yet they always performed it to near perfection. Yes, I feel very sorry for new fans who will never get to see them live. It’s an amazing experience like no other concert you can go to.

I would have gotten more enjoyment just staring at one of her album covers while listening to the album. By contrast one of the best concerts I ever saw was The Charlie Daniels Band. It sounded like I was listening to the album. Ten Foot Pole and Less Than Jake always put on a killer show. Dada were great live, the 4 or 5 times I saw them. Depeche Mode were fantastic, as were the Pet Shop Boys. I liked Bear Hands and the lead singer had a great voice but Twenty One Pilots were better imo.

In Australia, we were pretty horrified at the Black Eyes Peas' performance at the AFL Grand Final pre-show last year (which is kind of like our Superbowl). You really gotta find that footage just to see how arse-clenchingly awful it was... :O

Do they ever get australian acts to do that show? Seems they always have to fly in some of the worst overseas singers imaginable.
@lunapaper70285 жыл бұрын
@@barringtonwomble4713 This year, they did. They had Paul Kelly, Dean Lewis and Tones and I. I was pretty surprised they went for an all-Aussie lineup this time.
