Maury Yeston's lyrics to Titanic were always Sondheim-stupendous. This shows (for those who don't understand the language) the music was too. Titanic must be one of the most underrated Broadway scores. I think it was one of the best of the last 15 years.

Ugh bring this back now! It's an amazing show. They always get rid of the best shows with the best scores! :(

oh theres no doubt in my mind that it would be. you mentioned some powerful pieces, and you also mentioned that it was swallowed up by jack and rose. so it never took off, what people fail to see, was hello there was a love story! haha barret and his girl in the proposal! well, my sophmore year in highschool, we put on this production, i played harold bride :D and all i can say was this was so much fun and it was really entertaining for everyone in the audience to watch!

BOeMS musicalvereniging zal de musical Titanic in april 2010 in uitvoering brengen. Ik zou zeggen, kom allemaal kijken, het belooft een spektakel te worden!

@zerochris: Because clearly, the only measure of quality in a musical is commercial success. -_-; Just LISTEN: It's amazing.

Ouch! Sorry folks but Maury Yeston did NOT write the lyrics for this show! These were composed by Peter Stone- better known for movie screenplays such as "Charade" and "The Taking Of Pelham 123" *(the original version) Also note early performance by Celine Purcell (as Kate Mcgowran) in the same costume that was worn by the original Broadway actress-it fit her exactly! Years earlier she saw this show in New york and wanted this part..well she got it-rather like "Wicked" actually!

I agree. I think the German translation of this show is so gorgeous.

It's Dutch😊

What has the German translation to do with this performance? This one is Dutch. Dutch(Netherlands) is something different than German(Germany). Dunno why people mostly don't know the difference between the country's and even language.

@lyricspeople1234 do you think iif they brought t back, it would be incredibly successful?
@ShowtuneSampler12 жыл бұрын
Actually, Maury Yeston wrote both music and lyrics for this show. Peter Stone wrote the book (script). Get your facts right.

Het afknippen van de laatste noot van het orkest geeft wel weer aan hoe treurig het gesteld is met de waardering van live muziek in musical Nederland..

oops! My Mistake- and what a whopper! I really should have known better -I did see it on Broadway and repeatedly (because my daughter was in it) here in Holland. Funny thing is that I took her with me to see it in New York- when she was still at college and had never performed professionally- and afterwards besides complaining about people coming in too late (something she still hates-be warned Dutch thereatregoers!- she remarked upon how she she could play the Kate character. I laughed ...
