Damn at the end, that was so sincere... Honesty and integrity. So rare, especially in the music industry where everyone is in such competition, they forgot music was supposed to be fun and expressive. May you continue to grow in your musical journey for many more decades, and never stop searching and reaching for pure joy and enlightenment.

8:07 “Go out there and dog the hole.” This is really incredible advice! Especially for someone who does an unorthodox job that involves performing for others. It’s easy to get in your own head and stifle yourself with worrying thoughts. This attitude puts everything in its proper context - you’re being paid to do the work you’re trained to do. Simple.

Super happy to see Paul playing that Ibanez ORM1 style guitar in some of these shots - I bought myself a (lefthanded) ORM1 a few weeks ago on a whim, partly because it's smaller scale might be more forgiving on my smaller hands when learning some crazy paul Gilbert stuff (also it looks cool). Now to see my hero playing the same thing is gratifying. Seems his is modded with a second pickup put in, which was also my plan.

Lol ~ Paul is talking about fans like me. We hear the jazz and blues stuff and we go... What is this? This isn't rock and where is the blazing fast shredding? Over the years I kind of got used to Paul changing up his style and it is more enjoyable now. I'm obviously still a huge rock fan at heart, but Paul Gilbert did win me over with his infectiously positive attitude and new musical style. 9:25 Lmao Paul doing the Keanu... 21:17 The suit and the look reminds me of Eric Clapton 😂

God bless that man. I know we're blessed through him. Paul's finding the real things, like crawling is an awesome exercise. Doubt that? Yeah, it seems weird at first but just try it. I know you don't NEED to but just do it and remember what it feels like to stalk all the things. You got back pains? Crawl. Out of shape? Heart problems keeping you from jogging? Crawl. Wanna make it even better? Get a dog to crawl around with you. Become a kid again and learn to learn it all over, better this time, and this time don't give up on the crawling - and you won't because this time you KNOW that all that big boy/girl walking stuff is sooooo over-rated.

He makes me want to put my guitar away for a while and think of a plan B I knew a guy who went to the states from here in Oz. He asked me if I had heard of a guy who played guitar that he met with his friends named Paul Gilbert. Back in 1998. Paul obviously was to polite to tell him WHO he was..

@5:22 No Paul we don't like the "old you" we like the young you ! You've become old when you've started playing music for a crowd that likes to listen to electric guitar sitting down ! Nevertheless Paul, love to know you love what you are doing, love to know you feel you are growing and playing notes that are more musical and better than the licks you used to play. I think you've put out plenty enough of blazing fast hard rock records to let other kids have that covered for you.
