A quick note about the confusion with Ballas being in charge. Errands did actually die in the old war. Ballas made a new Erra, and put him under his control. Then Ballas played the slave to get the lotus on their side. When she started questioning why Erra was alive, they knew the gig was up and started draining her. (Also a lot of this was done through the use of Kuva)

I can't help but feel they also learned the utter power of cyclical moments from Destiny 2's best Storyline - the redemption of Crow, formerly known as Uldren Sov. He had a BEAUTIFUL moment similar to the one we experience with Lotus at the end here. And they made yet more use of this pattern with the end of Whispers in the Walls calling back to The Sacrifice. That said, my god that choice makes my throat choke up and my eyes tear no matter how many times i play it or see it. What a god damn choice to give us.

The only thing that has me real sad is that they didn't include the BRILLIANT teaser trailer they originally gave back in 2019. "Mercury has gone dark! They're hitting the entire system!"''The sheer sense of *dread* before we even zoom in on the plains and Erra making his landing really should've had its place in the final quest. Sure, the more cinematic opening with the multiple forms of characters works - but before we ever get to Erra taking Cetus there still would have been space to include that trailer and i'm sad they didn't.

And this is how the solar system was almost destroyed in a domestic dispute. Coming from a broken household, what Ballas said to Lotus at the end... What she "made" him do... its your parents fighting, something all to familiar.
@DarkmegaGaming10 ай бұрын
9:30 Basically, as far as I care to figure, Ballas chained up under Erra was a ruse, to get Natah to trust them, but she realizes erra was killed. But Ballas likely rebuilt him, as another source of control and manipulation against natah. So he could ultimately use her energy to re-energize and control Praghasa. Why Mother Praghasa was "dead", I can only guess. but it could potentially be due to an old event called "Scarlet spear" where we were tasked to hack into sentient ships in space and orphix's on the surface of earth (before they learnt Warframe nullification) to get codes to break into Murex mind networks and upload malicious code/Viruses which sent them back in a bugged and erroring state to hopefully stall out the full invasion with a bunch of viruses. I have a feeling they probably caused a bit of damage when they got back to mother, enough to set them back for a time and probably render her... shut down/screwed up also... or Alternatively "mother" was what they affectionately called their home ship and it didn't have a personality like Hunhow, even if he was meant to be a whole terraforming ship of sorts also. (mother was a carpenter , Father was a farmer etc from the ropalolyst fight). Although in the time that whole event bought Ballas I guess helped fix stuff up and managed to teach the Orphix dropships/dropspear thingies to radiate warframe nullifying zones which would in turn screw us up, and so we'd have to use mechs in the next event to fight them back. Unfortunately a lot of this middle of the line story stuff is lost to new incoming players. :< 11:10 yeeah... the Unum is so powerful that she can basically render an enemy's ship to inert metal (full shutdown, no power, dead) if she detects ill-will towards her and her people (something from the lore bits)... so... I imagine the sentients basically just yeeted their murex at full speed and let gravity do the rest and The Unum couldn't do anything about it... 15:10 heart wrenchers... 15:25 for my brothers... T_T 19:35 Take your shot... For profit. o7 💥 27:55 kiss of deeeeeath. :< 30:00 ah yes. stunned mullet look. just how we like em. Killed you so hard you got kicked out of the game. xD anyways, I'll keep watching. :) 1:17:15 oh yeah, you missed that memo. cause you slept on Simaris. like a lotta people do. :V and you were basically rushing the story cause it's practically free now. 1:28:33 wow, that was a quick choice.... I did choose drifter if only cause the voice after a long choice on finding out whether or not you could switch eventually, hoping I'd get the drifter skills. but I still play operator till this day outside the quest. I preferred my operator cosmetics I had personally made via farming ingame stuff than the drifter in their default stuff at the time when it came out... and drifter would sometimes get stuck when void dashing.... 1:33:25 no reaction to the Unum stopping time when she was finally awake and drifter and ordis's funny lines? D: ripped off. laaaame. 1:35:33 and the disrespects keep on coming. X_X 1:36:40 and this is why you shoulda done duviri first, in some respects. but also, why you also shouldn't. it's a hard call. while it provides a lot of, "huh, whats going on here?" the real "aha" moments experienced during it when seeing the sights and some of the characters and locations of duviri only come when you get after the new war, into the later content. 1:56:06 Void corruption, went feral and nuts. Not "infested". They lost their minds and started lashing out and attacking each other, emotions went wild and they saw stuff... Since the void has been shown to feed on emotions and also in a way, memories among other stuff like... Uh... what you'll discover next I guess. Which likely happened after the tenno made the deal with the man in the wall entity and the void broke in completely.

Don't worry too much if you missed things, there are a few Warframe Lore channels you can check out offline to gain more insight: StallordD, TheDSiege, and The Orokin Archives. Congratulations in finishing "The Sentients and The Lotus" Narrative Arc. Now, two quests await you as preludes toward the next Narrative Arc, the "Albrecht Entrati and The Man in The Wall" Saga: "Angels of The Zariman", and "The Duviri Paradox". I personally rank The Duviri Paradox a hair above The Sacrifice in terms of relatability. I hope you see why soon enough. As for The New War quest, it really showcases the ambition of Digital Extremes in terms of storytelling. Even after 10 years of offering this Game-as-a-Service, they have little to no corrosion in terms of visions of grandeur. With the first quest for the next Narrative Arc ("Whispers In The Walls"), I became very much convinced that the direction DE points toward is one ride to never forget. So excited!

In all my years of Warframe the best source for lore has been the community itself, specifically the lore-heads in the official discord since they’re good st answering questions and explaining why somethjng is the way it is, many youtubers get it wrong or have outdated info so if one is watching them it’s important to take it with a grain of salt and look into things in-game (not the Wiki, in terms of lore it’s not a good source afaik) if you reslly want to look into something. Notably just replaying or rewatching a quest can help to understand things better too.

I love how this quest introduces two new UI skins just to bring us in to the sense of scale with TNW. We play as a Grineer for one short sequence, then a Corpus for another sequence, just to make us see this system-wide war from a worm's-eye view. The UI here pulls us in to their place to make us feel small in the midst of it all. Makes Ballas' conquest seem so much more threatening and monumental. It's not a Marvel-style team-up, but rather a war on many fronts - a war all of them lose.

1:20:39 So this is the section I wanted to hear your opinion on. Most people interpret this cutscene as the proof that Eternalism is the true doctrine. I, however, see it as Presentism asserting itself. All of these other versions of our Operator dying one by one, I see that as all other possible realities, both past and future, either ceasing to exist or all coalescing into one, that being the PRESENT reality. The reason why the Drifter is unaffected is because he exists in the present reality so while his original reality is gone, he continues to exist in our present reality.(In case it wasn't clear, Drifter is not our Operator from the future but from a different reality) 1:22:46 No, "Hey kiddo" is Wally,AKA The Man In The Wall 1:49:30 BEHOLD! 2 HOUR SUPERCUT IS HERE! I wasn't able to see all of the stream, so I'm interested to see how he reacts to everything Edit: So, to clear up some confusion on the deal you took on The Zariman (if it wasn't during the stream). Your doppleganger is a sort of... avatar of The Man In The Wall ("Wally," who Rell was holding back in CoH, and that thing Lotus saw at the end of the quest). The Deal collapsed every single timeline where The Operator exists down to 2 linked times, where you're given Void Powers by Wally, and where you're left to Drift on the Zariman and age to become The Drifter. But The Deal also allowed the timelines to interact, which is why Operator and The Drifter can switch places. Through the Schrodinger-Haven that is Eternalism, both exist simultaneously and can be summoned to each other's timeline.

Nice work, glad you went through it and saw so many of the details that players loved ^^ I have to put a little marker on something you brought up; that some players didn't like the direction this was going. You had some insight into that, unfortunately it's a lot more simple and a lot more dumb than that. Players that didn't like The New War, or in fact most of the quests that revolve around the Operator, are of the opinion that in Warframe you should play as Warframes. They don't like non-Warframe game play, they frequently repeat phrases like 'I want to put the kid back in the cryo-pod' or that they wish they never found out what the Operator was. It's a little sad, and a little annoying, and a lot hilarious. Because we haven't had exclusively Warframe gameplay in Warframe since 2014, and not with the Operator, oh no, with things like the Archwing. We've had non-Warframe modes in Warframe for close on a decade now. So... yeah... weird people.

So long story short, an Eidolon is a "dead" Sentient that's trying to heal itself. During the Old War a particularly powerful Sentient landed on Earth and found out that Kuva could heal the Sentients of the Void sickness that prevents them from reproducing properly. If he shared this discovery with the rest of the Sentients they would have won the War. Gara fought the Sentient and basically blew up a nuke killing herself in the process (and creating the Gara Thot Lake). The Eidolons are pieces of this ancient Sentient who come out of the lake searching for the other pieces to put itself back together. For eons a different Tenno, Revenant, held the pieces at bay but Revenant grew weak over time and now we have to go there and kick their ass every night to prevent this ancient Sentient from waking up and revealing this secret to the rest.

Natah was who she was born. Margulis is who she aspired to be. Lotus is who she became on the path of her journey to be someone.
@rRekko10 ай бұрын
Not aspired to be, she was made to assimilate Margulis. Lots of people consider this to be creepy, but Lotus is Margulis, the adoptive mother and protector of the Tenno. And then there is Natah, the obedient daughter that was made to commit all sorts of missions to get rid of the orokin and keep destroying worlds just as her people have been doing. There is no right choice, as she is now starting with a clean slate. So who do you chose? Genocidal destroyer of worlds, slave to her father? Adoptive mother of the Tenno (both margulis and lotus)? Oh btw, she became the Lotus because Margulis memories messed her up and made her turn a new page on life, abandoning being a sentient because of what it meant to be one, so either way she chose to leave the past behind, so it doesn't matter who you pick.
@-Eir-10 ай бұрын
Physically copying a person does not make them the copied person. It is not appearance that dictates who we are, but our essence. Even after being recovered she still remembered the side she was really on (The Tenno). When people analyze the story of Lotus, they forget to deal with it in a more human way even though it is a game. If you embrace what you have become (that's what she did) it genuinely makes you that. When she kisses Ballas and returns to normal, it is Lotus who appears, not Natah or Margulis. The choices in the game are given to have more freedom of customization. Warframe sustains itself with Fashionframe. There is also a charged feeling when she says the lines while choosing the shapes. Choosing Natah she seems apathetic and not very human. Choosing Margulis you can feel an insecurity in her voice, as if she didn't even believe it. When we choose Lotus she exudes the same confidence as when she faced Erra when saying who she is.

i dont know how much was explained for you on or off camera but given your persistent confusion at the lotus/margulis/natah chain and the drifter arc ill try to summarize the broad strokes in short order natah, born to hunhow, was the leader of one battalion of the sentients in the old war, who witnessed the execution of margulis for apostasy at the behest of the orokin council and balas. balas genuinely loved margulis but was blinded by... a number of things... related to the orokin and his own status so he tried to bury it by taking the tenno, which were his last living memory of margulis and turning them into a weapon against the sentient, and then in the events of the sacrifice it is revealed that balas also intended to betray the orokin because of their execution of margulis. natah at hunhows direction infiltrated the orokin empire, and mimicked margulis to subvert balas, giving him the only thing that could ease his grief by literally raising the dead from the jade light. balas at some point during the events of the old war caught on natah was a sentient, probably pretty early on. and then it became a game of double agent bullshit that isnt really explained. the short and gritty of it, was that in the process of infiltrating, natah taking margulis's role also became the de facto mother figure for the tenno, and since lotus had crossed the gap with hunhow she would never bear children of her own. hunhow's last directive was for the natah to obliterate the orokin. balas's directive was to essentially create old war narmer and take away his own pain and grief hence the veils. and natah wanting to be a mother created the lotus personality as a middle ground where she cared only for the tenno. she made the tenno slaughter the orokin, sealed hunhow away on neptune and then sent the tenno to sleep for thousands of years (presumably. we dont know how long ago the old war was exactly. but it was long enough that even the ruins of the orokin empire are crumbling with exception of lua) the drifter bit is easier to explain. in the flashbacks we are told the principles of eternalism and presentism. outside of the void presentism reigns. inside the void eternalism reigns. when balas stabbed your operator and started the drifter arc. he moved the focal point of the origin system (you, the player) into the void. essentially resetting the loop of the zariman accident, during your flashback in the void, the drifter swapped places with you, and YOU existed in the drifter's shoes for the ENTIRE DURATION OF ALL OF THE EVENTS OF THE GAME, within the void. you experienced the months long timeframe of void time in the zariman that coincided with thousands of years of linear time simultaneously. when you shook hands with "hey kiddo" in the flashback you were REMAKING the deal with the man in the wall and fulfilling the premise of eternalism, the flash where you saw all the different copies of you collapsing then saw the drifter again, was the flashpoint of the first handshake crossing the void boundary and switching places back with the drifter. think of it like making a pocket universe of a pocket universe. things got really screwy because balas inadvertently took away then gave you your powers back in the same move.

Lotus/Margulis/Natah are all the same person. "Hey kiddo" is The Man in the Wall.. A cosmic entity. A cosmic horror. And of the major villains of the grand scheme of things. Kinda like a godlike being who remains a mystery intentionally.. That is what a cosmic horror needs to be, so it most likely always will have some of that

The cool thing about the Drifter, is that its the same template (so to speak) as the operator, but is a completely different person. As soon as they shook hands with the man in the wall, The Operator and Drifter ceased being the same person

41:33 fun fact: if you play "We all lift together" and "For narmer" at the same time near the end at the chorus it turns into a duet between the two songs

1:52:20 I would argue that Lotus is less of who she was to us and more of who she wished she could be. Although I could also see someone reading Margulis in that same role and I wouldn't disagree either.

I love watching people completing The New War! It's first major quest released after I started playing, and it feels like a major milestone for me now. 41:16 after I've heared mash of For Narmer and We All Lift Together, I cannot unhear it. Every time I hear chorus of one song, another rises in my head. It looks like songs were not meant to have resemblance between them, but to actually play together! Iirc authors said they didn't do that intentionally, but I don't really believe that. They fit each other too well.

I've seen solid arguments for choosing all names, but I too went with Lotus. To me, Margulis is who Ballas wanted her to be. Natah is who she was born to be. Lotus is who she choose to be.

The New War... Man what an experience it was when I did this 2yrs ago. I feel like the name of the quest isn't about some new war with the Sentients or with Narmer, that was a continuation of the Old War. Instead it's about the new war against Wally. And the Wally saga is already off to a strong start.
@shadow0fx10 ай бұрын
I really do love New War. Sure it’s not as deep as Sacrifice and Chains but what it lacks in a gripping personal story it makes up for in a gripping arc conclusion. More than ever, Lotus is given the development to fully form her character. The themes of domestic abuse are so heavy in New War and I was enthralled by how well DE pulled it off. It was such a good risk

Some of my thought's While ballas mourns margolis, I think it was ballas that whispered in the ears of the council, causing her death, removing the tenno's adoptive mother, and protector. All so he could have control over the tenno. But control was problematic, so he took natah and turned her into the lotus, controlling the tenno through her. To me, Ballas is the great trickster and corruptor.

People have been suggesting lore channels, one lore video I'd recommend is Brozime's Warframe Timeline video. It's not going to be as detailed and in-depth as lore breakdowns from dedicated lore channels but it's a good cliff notes of the important things and was made as a sort of "Lead Up to Duviri" primer.
@Desdemona-XI10 ай бұрын
One of the things that often gloss over. Is that you dont choose who lotus becomes, you only choose which of the three aspects of her, takes the fore. Lotus becomes like the morrigan, the fates, the triune goddess, the maiden the mother and the crone. Margulis embodied mercy, healing, and a gentle nature, where natah was strength, war, and cruelty in necessity. But lotus embodies the balance of them
@deadone13833 күн бұрын
i like to belive that in for the Narmor "for we all one" and the whole sound of this is just like darker version of "we all lift together". There is still Solaris inside, locked deep within, but they are still there

The way I see it, your observation about body parts holds the key to the whole thing, as every single person who has ever come into contact with Wally seems to have lost one, be it parvos, lotus, Albrecht, and even the drifter, but then, in the New War cinematics, we are shown multiple versions of ourselves, who die one after the other, until only two remain, meaning that they were somehow discarded, I believe that Wally's behavior and various covert deals with various characters through the game so far tend to indicate that he is searching for something, or rather, someone, he tries with whoever he encounters, only to move on to the next candidate upon failure, and I believe that what he is searching for is an actual body, a physical form to inhabit and be able to physically interact with the origin dimension, while at the same time getting rid of any obstacles (factions) in the way, I think that Wally has already concluded that the body he's searching for is a Tenno, and what he's doing now is to determine, by way of elimination, which of the Tenno, and which version of said Tenno is the one he is looking for.

I remember it takin me a solid hour to get past the "stealth" part with the decaons in Fortuna, glad to see Marco still enjoying all the story bits even if it's a bit hard to keep everything straight. I know if anyone wants to deep dive into the lore there's a few channels about it but StallorD has a pretty good coverage, and iirc Brozime made a video that hits the important bits.

But all 3 are herself. Natah is who she was born as, then she consumed and assimilated Margulis by order of Ballas but she then decided to put on the helmet and become Lotus instead. Hunhow wants her to be Natah, her obedient daughter. Ballas wants her to be Margulis, his loving wife. Lotus is who she ultimately chose to be. Also, i picked Margulis so what? Lotus is Margulis with a helmet, Natah is a destroyer of worlds. The only reason Natah 'turned good' was because of her mission to assimilate Margulis and use the Tenno to get rid of the Orokin, but thanks to Margulis memories being implanted in her, she fell in love with the Tenno and ended up adopting and protecting them, making them her own family, as she couldn't have one of her own because she is sterile. People who think picking Margulis is creepy and rapey/abusive/whatever are just plain wrong. 'Choosing Margulis is like having Ballas get what he wanted in the end' even tho he doesn't. Making her become Natah is telling her to adopt the form she had when she was a servient on a mission to just genocide everything that wasn't a sentient. And lastly, making her be the Lotus is telling her to adapt the personality that was born out of the memories of Margulis being injected into her, making her fight an internal war which Margulis won as she became the Lotus to protect the Tenno instead of disposing of them after accomplishing her mission of making them betray the Orokin.

It's certainly not lost while playing as the Drifter, but the final mission as the operator hit *really* hard for me. Watching basically your parents in this horrible, abusive relationship fight while you as a child are struggling to even be able to influence it. Thank you for the edit, it was fun listening to your thoughts! I always crave replaying games like this vicariously through people playing them for the first time.

I like the grandiose, but I also like the small and personal. Warframe can pull it off, it works. Sure, some moments in New War could have been more fleshed out, like Erra's death (probably?). But not to the point of ruining anything because it still makes sense. We rarely get to chose how glorious our final moment will be. Though, I guess it still felt personal. Just on a larger scope. We got to see with how much dedication the Grineer fight, and get so see their human side. Kahl fought for a future, for his Brothers. Then Veso, someone who obviously has authority to the point of issuing a shipwide override, but just didn't have the recklessness required to climb the corporate ladder much further. Both of them in essence good people and we probably cut down endless amounts of good people when taking a Warframe into battle. Then of course, the Man in the Wall a.k.a Wally a.k.a. The Indifference a.k.a. Ma dude. We owe him our life, but to what end. To this day I don't think he's evil, nor indifferent for that matter. But more on that when you catch up fully. EDIT: spelling

You missed big time with the part of the man in the wall, next time activate color correction in the graphic part of options, that activates a lot of cool effects to some abilities and parts of the story like that one and those changes make a huge difference if you find it annoying don't use it regularly but make sure to turn it on before a quest.

I chose Natah at the end of this quest (after 30 minutes of mulling it over) because that form is her truth and origin. In a way, I see it as her taking back who she was while keeping er experiences to heart in a sort of do-over. I kinda was hoping to see you react to her inbox message. It really was something to behold.
