Slider 27 she definitely has vocal damage, you can tell her voice is partially damaged. You can’t expect to have a perfect voice as a singer forever. But aside form that. She’s amazing.

As a huge Idina fan I’ve been waiting for this!! Also, these clips are good but there’s so much more they could add for her best vocals! It’s also kind of a shame how short they made the clips and only concentrated on belts when part of what makes her amazing is her vulnerability and authenticity as a performer, which I think was somewhat lost by making the clips so short.

Actually I was more impressed than I expected to be. If she's capable of the level of singing we saw in some of these clips, then it's a damn shame that she's not consistent. She should really work on that.

Too nasal and thin - to me, has the effect of nails scraping a chalkboard. Voice needs to be “rounder”, more open, have more depth, fuller - something... Not classically trained?

I appreciate Idina Menzel as a cultural influence, but I have to admit that I don't care for her voice. The belts without vibrato (à la Katy Perry, Taylor Swift...) just sound like screaming to me. When she does use vibrato, it seems by accident as a result of improper breath support. And sometimes she eats her consonants 4:54, it's "goNNNNNNa RRRRRaain onNNNNMMMmyy..." . Maybe a stylistic choice, but it sounds kind of annoying to me.

She shouts to much - most of time strained. She is ten to hundred: sometimes sounds great sometimes sharp and flat. Lea is more constant than her - vocally - and her tone is more pleasant. But, it's all my opinion.

Focus too much on single note belts instead of phrasing and characterization... It's all always about building up to the bridge and 2or3 powernotes with her; which suits for musical theatre but means I'd never listen to her album or go to a gig of her soloing.

You’re right she’s sometimes hard work to listen to. All this belting out a song gets a bit repetitive after a while.
