I'd say those two version are both unique & very different in their own way because of the music used. Idina's version is just so beautiful & magical , while Brendon's is super powerful & impressive. LOVE THEM BOTH !

Usually the pop versions aren't as good because the singer isn't as good as the theatrical version, but in this case the singer is better with the angst in the lyrics of the verses and smashes the high notes confidently, making this version better than the theatrical. Why isn't he the star of a Disney movie yet?!

He's a (very very good) pop singer with influence from other genres but he's not really a real/pure rock or punk singer. However I'm confident he could nail it without any kind of pop influence in his singing if he wanted to.

Great reaction, so glad you loved it. By the way the whole band is on this song. Both Brendon and Panic!s drummer Dan are playing drums, Mike on guitar, and Nicole on bass. (Brendon may also have played guitar too). Also Dan and his wife Maya and Mike and Nicole are doing the background vocals. The highest note on this song by both Brendon and Idina is the same high note in Let it Go. Eb5 The whole Idina and Aurora version is now on KZbin too. In addition one of the Panic! fans posted a combined video with their respective versions one in the left ear and the other in the right ear.

Great review as always! I'm actually conflicted in choosing a favorite version! Both versions are incredible in their own way. I like the musical choice with Brandon's better and his voice is just as fabulous as ever. Idina's is just very hauntingly beautiful specially when the 'Siren' is done by Aurora which is such a nice touch! Ahh I love both versions hahaha I just play one after the other haha

This is an amazing cover! But I love Idina’s version more, especially in the context of the film. The film is AMAZING! I’ve never been to the cinema and experienced the audience burst into applause at the end of the film Please (if you are able to, not sure what disneys restrictions are) review Kristoff’s song, its 80s themed and stuffed full of references only adults would get and its hilarious. I didn’t think they could top let it go, but both of Idina’s songs are on par with if not better than LIG. I haven’t stopped listening to Into the Unknown and trying to sing it 😂 after about an hour of repeatedly trying it actually started to sound good (or I slipped into a psychosis after hearing my own voice screeching it out over and over again) Kristen Bells voice is really good as well, like really good!

Brendon is so great as usual with this song and the band is so flipping talented and they had amazing vocals in this too. Dan, Nicole, Mike and Dan’s wife Maya and their sound engineer Suzy did the background vocals. As for the recording the songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopes and Bobby Lopes said Brendon did his main vocal in one take. Here is a very brief clip of him singing part of it live while at home streaming on Twitch playing Fortnite with his friends. This song is absolutely incredible ! It gives me as a musician and Disney fanatic goosebumps ! However... I have to agree, kids movies in general are being pushed toward a more adult emotional spectrum which isn’t good. My daughter is 8 and she will often say, no mum I don’t want to watch this, it’s got dark music which just means it pushes her into more existential thinking and ultimately emotions she finds scary. Quite often the visuals aren’t violent or gratuitous but they’re too mysterious and often the art direction is dark... like we did to children’s clothing were doing the same with what they watch
