Growing up in DC, the Blackbyrds were in heavy rotation in my childhood home especially on Saturday morning house clean up and backyard BBQs. I still go into a very good place every time I hear the Blackbyrds. #salute

From their debut album "The Blackbyrds" AKA The Wheatfield with Crows Album, the instrumental song "GUT LEVEL" blew me away when I was about 13 years old. Not since Herbie Hancock's "Chameleon" have a heard a more funkier song with excellent jazz chops. I still have this song on my play-list, and it stirs me up every time. An amazing performance by a awesome band.

Props for giving these legends some flowers. One of my favorite bands of the 70s. Especially "do it fluid", one of the best funk party songs ever. Kudos my brother.

Coolio and O.D.B. did a version of Rock Creek Park that was on a soundtrack.
