That was what I was thinking. Imagine your playing a game about music throughout the years. In the end of the game you go back in time and meet Beethoven after he created the 5th symphony. You are challenged with defeating him in a music competition. This amazing piece is the one you play when going against him. After beating him, you finally go back to the present day and find yourself haunted by his ghost having to play for him once again. Eventually he teaches you what he knows and disappears. You have finally defeated a musical Prodigy known throughout the world as Beethoven...

$75 one is the perfect match to Beethovens 5th. Because they went with lower tones and that base, it just amplified how dark and visceral the symphony is while also having a matching complexity. Every beat and melody melded so perfectly but neither overpowered the other.

I think there are two different elements of “quality” to look at here: 1) Quality of the sound engineering, which in my opinion did mostly increase with price. The higher priced ones sounded cleaner to me. 2) Quality of the ideas for accompanying your piece - this is the one that I don’t think increased so much with price. Some of the cheaper options seemed more creatively inspired by the task you asked of them. I agree with you that the $300 one was overall the best work. Fair play to all of them though - they all felt like solid efforts, nobody who I think is ripping people off.

I agree totally. If you listen to very late works of Beethoven, such as the Grosse Fuge, you can sense something very strange there, like the composer went so far ahead with his ideas that even today we still have a hard time understanding what he wanted to do, and in his lifetime there were critics stating they were unlistenable. However, when Schubert, one of the most dedicated fans of Beethoven, was in his deathbed, he requested a score of just one of these last pieces from the master.

The $75 one was BY FAR the Best!!!! It almost felt like it was telling a story and it gave me goosebumps and a bit of anxiety towards the end. Amazing climax and worth every penny and then some!!!
So… I’ll probably get some backlash for this but as someone who played in orchestra through school and still plays my violin as an adult, I have to say that 8:33 Phillip, gave me chills, in an orchestra specific way. Like I could have heard that composition at the Kennedy center or in Star Wars, like it included the whole orchestra. The $75 one was amazing in a soloist standpoint though, and freaking incredible for that price point. This is just my two cents. But I’m a fan and subbing now! PS your piano skills are amazing. :)

Nicolaschazarre was the best from start to finish. That ending was epic. If you had paid $7500 it would have been with it. Given your own criteria of what you were looking for, especially keeping the piano portion at front and center(focal point) it was exactly what you asked for and then more. WileyWest was actually off on his dubstep beat in a couple of spots. I also got bored with about 20 seconds left.

I think I like the $75 one most, honestly. Good integration, really good energy, clean drops and he raise the intensity in build ups evenly so it really emphasized the build ups. I personally agree with your ranking, following your parameters. However, I would definitely listen to Nicholaschazarre's (75) multiple times in a row compared to Wileywest's(300). Nicholas' has more of a older game feel that feels more simplistic, but definitely adds a bunch more to the song. The use of bass and higher parts accentuated the piano in a way that felt more subtle, almost like putting the piano in an elevated position and just playing bbackground. Wiley's version definitely connected into more of what you played. It also flowed well with the original and added just the right amount of suspense and increase in sound to it. The only thing I really disliked about it was the sheer amount of everything else going on around the piano. It was very well produced, but there was abpot of other elements added around the piano. It just isn't something I would play on repeat on a regular day. I'd most likely play it when I'm trying to stay focused or trying to get pumped up.
@PrinceLeigh3 жыл бұрын
I completely agree!!
@klausstock80203 жыл бұрын
Yep, the "following your parameters" point. To me, these parameters were not clear to me until after all remixes had been presented. I had originally thought that the whole exercise would be to remix the 5th into an ultra-danceable EDM piece. To clarify: not just danceable (like re-interpreting it in 3/4 instead of 2/4 to make it a (possibly somewhat disturbing) waltz, or in 4/4 to make it a rumba - both of which would been reasonably good matches for the tempo of the 5th), but EDM-style danceable. I also assumed that changing the tempo was not allowed (it seems, however, some did that a bit, but no one went to 120 or 125bpm). Based on this assumption, the $600 piece by jmpaudiodesign would have been the winner (I actually did dance to all the tunes to check the danceability). But leaving my "stupid assumptions" aside and to consider which versions I'd actually like to listen to... Lindsey Mennenga's comment matches that perfectly.

You have to view it from their point of view as well. Many people on Fiverr undercharge their work. Just think about it. They have to pay taxes as well. I don't know how long it takes to produce a song like that but if you charge $75 for it then you can not work on it more than two hours or it is not worth it. Being self employed you have to calculate a lot different than people that work a normal 9 to 5 job.
@trevorr99193 жыл бұрын
That last guy did exactly what I wanted. He didn’t try to take over what you were doing and he did a little back and forth with what I guess I would call the lifting of the work. Idkh to explain it, but he knew when to grab the audience’s attention, then hand it back to the piano. Plus the drumroll build up to the drop. The third guy was the most creative to me. He may not have been the best but goddamn he has potential.

I see a lot of people going with the $75 as the winner, and I actually have to agree From a piano player point: Nuisances are everything, Pianissimo and Forte are 2 examples that mean Soft and Loud in music theory. It's not like EDM where a standard volume can play most of the time. So this producer was able to catch that incredible buildup into finally dropping at the end! Perfectly arranged! 10/10 From a producer point: Reason I like this one so much is because nothing sounds too muddled. EQ'ing can be so annoying when something is too bass heavy, or too mid heavy. This sounds like it just nails it. Bass it heard when it's needed, and the Piano takes up most of the treble side of the spectrum, so it's mainly working with the rest of what you got. 10/10 Hope to see your name again! (Listening again lol)
