I love this. And I hate to criticize such wonderful players. But it would have been better without the drums.

Dylan Spence- Subjective personal preference. Instead of saying "It would have been better...", I should have said, "I would have preferred it...". No insult intended. I just prefer bass and mando chop to carry the beat in this style of music.

Dale VanCleef I'm in your camp on this one. I have always loved Sam Bush's mandolin playing, but have also always been a bit flabbergasted at his general inability to contextualize it. His drive and tone are easily strong enough to eliminate the need for much of a band, so it always seems a bit superfluous to me to see him playing with a big group, let alone having a drummer to provide rhythmic accents that he actually does a better job of providing. For me, his incredible musicianship handicaps his ability to play in a lot of settings, and I am usually left wondering why he so often ignores this.
