In the mid-70s Newgrass was sort of looked like as "Who are these guys and why are they not totally SPBGMA and quit rocking the boat". Well, pretty soon they proved that attitude wrong and simply had to be accepted and welcome because really they were revolutionary in the era and without losinb bluegrass formed a new alternate path for the genre. And this video is stunning.

Don't know when this recording was made, but I know Sam Bush is a frugal man. He is playing the same mandolin and it looks like he has the same shirt on in a clip from 1996 with Emmylou Harris (Sweet Old World).
