The Colonel was a living embodiment of embracing who he truly was, and not giving a crap about what others THOUGHT he should be. We can all learn from that. God bless him

Col. Bruce is one of those people you do not realize how important they affected everyone and had as much an impact on so many other musicians & artists you know personally or grew up playing with, until they are gone and hear all the kind statements.

Was in the front row at the 12th Gate in Atlanta in the ancient Hippie days watching The Hampton Grease Band in a seriously altered state. Bruce freaked the hell out of me messing with my head rocking the mic stand back and forth at me as the band played on. Good times!

What is so weird is that I find out, sometimes during interviews, sometimes after I've done an article, that almost every single person I've written about has.a connection with CBH. I can't help but think, sometimes, that his spirit is still here with us.

Yeah, I got a new tune in composition entitled "The Thrill." And it goes somethin' like this: "I stand on the hill, not for a thrill, but for the breath of a fresh kill. Never mind the man who contemplates doin' away with license plates. He stands alone, anyhow, bakin' the cookies of discontent by the heat of the laundromat vent. Leavin' his soul!" Then like in poetry I go dot-dot-dot, you know, kinda off center, then I drop down and then I go: "Leavin' his soul! And partin' the waters of the medulla oblongata of - -brrrrrr! - -mankind!" That was a damn good song, wasn't it ?
