The 70s and 80s was absolutely the best era for both pop and rock music. An era when mostly bands ruled the airwaves, unlike the crappy solo artists of recent times.
@bouzoukiman5000

Actually that era still rules music. Disco (edm), punk look and attitude on pop stars, metal still sells out arenas, funk is everywhere, and rap is the most popular. All from the 1970's

@@cycologist7069They were in all States in Australia as far as I remember, to raise awareness and to protest the use of nuclear weapons that both Russia and the USA threatened to use in the Cold War. No-one wins. Just Stop the Drop! At the same time a movie came out called The Day After which showed average civilians facing the aftermath of nuclear war. It shocked and educated the audience and gave me a sense of doom. I thought as a young person, what’s the point if it’s likely to happen….

It would've been good to have been alive at these shows. But when you were born around this time (like me), these songs and sounds carry a certain added mystique. I think this is why the 80s keeps coming back: the music was phenomenal.

It took me a while to figure out what "the drop" was. When I finally see closer that it's a mushroom cloud, I was like "oh!". 1983 was the year some Soviet radar centre detected a bunch of incoming ICBMs and the operator, Stanislav Petrov, made a decision he was very unsure of: he decided that it was a malfunction.

How I wish the Oils were more Globally successful. Of all the bands I've paid to see live, Peter makes me mesmerised everytime. Him and Bon. Michael was sexy eye candy. Michael matured as INXS progressed through the 80s. BUT Bon was there wowing us at day one in the 70s with his cheek, wit and connection to the crowd. Angus was his court jester and brilliant. We upsettingly lost Bon. 😢 Then comes along this powerhouse of an entertainer and activist called Peter Garrett who makes you just stop and watch. His dancing, his command, his take over of the entire stage. Fucking Amazing! Michael became a music video clip success. He had the looks. Peter and Bon had the raw stuff and God so great. Funnily enough, I have watch those dumb American KZbin mojo polls amongst others. Peter and Michael rank nothing as frontmen. Bon is lucky to get a foot in. I wish I knew how to make my own videos from an Aussie perspective to set this wrong straight.
