Good reaction again. The Kami Band that night were Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar) - both 7 strings I think, BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). This was at the Budokan in Tokyo, a martial arts arena built for the 1964 Olympics but now also a hugely prestigious venue for concerts and the place Japanese artists dream of and aspire to play. They were playing in the round with the stage in the middle and the audience surrounding them in several levels. BABYMETAL are the youngest average age female band to play there -early March 2014 and Su-metal was just 16 and a couple of months, Yuimetal and Moametal still only 14. At the start of 2021 they played the Budokan again - 10 shows as part of their 10th anniversary celebration. I would suggest 'Megitsune' for another reaction - the official video is excellent, but any live performance - Budokan Black Night again for example, would be so good.

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 Little known fact: They had to rebuild Budokan overnight, because Su burned it down when she premiered this song the previous night. : ) And… that's why we made her our Queen at sixteen years old. Her voice has only gotten better since that March 2014 concert. This song, and 'Akatsuki' from the same concert are what made me a die-hard fan. Su performed three solos that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. That Black Night Budokan concert is still one of my favorite BABYMETAL shows of all time. This performance is my standard answer to anyone who says that BABYMETAL aren't really metal. It's already epic, and THEN Su rises up from beneath the stage.

Great reaction, thanks! "Rondo of Nightmare" is probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare, without any chance to escape, and she's chased by a dark entity as she tries to run away and hide from. Finally she gives up and ask the entity to show its real nature. The "rondo" in the name refers to the musical refrain form. The typical feature of any rondo is the return to the main theme after each digression giving the song a dark feeling of moving in circles without any possible way out.

Rondo of Nightmare (with Mischief of the Metal Gods intro) is one of my favorite songs by BABYMETAL.....who am I kidding? All of their songs are my favorites. The premise of the song is that SU-METAL is trapped in an endless nightmare with an unknown demonic creature following her. She tries to escape and hide but to no avail, when she has finally come to terms with the fact that there is no escape she urges the creature to show itself to her and that there is nothing left for her to do than fall into the darkness. It is a pretty dark song and it gives me goosebumps every single time. SU-METALS vocals just pierce through my heart that is for sure. As for the instrumentals, it is just crazy!! Hideki Aoyama, the God of Drums is just insane and that Bass solo by BOH-san is just pure awesomeness!! Just goes to show that you need to be at least Kamiband level to summon SU-METAL lol. There are only a handful of songs with Kamiband Intros but they are just the greatest songs to listen to. You can react to Kagerou with Kami Band intro to get a taste of the western Kamiband or Catch me if you can from the Tokyo Dome concert for another intro song. All in all a great reaction!! The fearlessness of Su-metal. Think about that, she is on a platform 2 meters wide 2 meters up, without any safety equipment. Lights on her face, there is no chance that she can see where she is standing. It's okay if you stand still, but she takes some dance moves and then there are the thing with your mind, it's playing with you when you know you are on an elevated platform. Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her piercing voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her. How many times we should go through waves in this song? Billows, ripples and rollers.

The term is heel/toe technique for the drummers using the heel and toe for doubles on a single pedal. It gets even crazier when the drummers use this with both feet. I use a swivel technique…basically my feet shuffle back and forth instead of heel to toe.

Great reaction! You are obviously someone who knows to appreciate what this band has to offer. And that‘s so much, the great musicianship of the instrumentalists, Su‘s beautiful voice, the interesting arrangement, the beautiful melodies, the cool stage, the theatric performance… not many bands can offer all of that. But there‘s more that you‘d have to watch some more of their performances for. The majority of their songs features two additional dancers, resulting in a very entertaining visual performance and awesome crowd interaction as well. And the positivity they ooze isn‘t that common in Metal either. To me they are the epitome of entertainment. Their music is very diverse, they fuse all sorts of genres with different sub-genres of Metal. Nice reaction. That intro to summon Su is fun theatrics for the audience but if I was there, I would have cheered my butt off too. The kamiband are all guys. They used a female violinist for one show I was told. so theoretically they could use female kami's in the future. su delivers a powerful performance here. Showing off her talent and skills at a young age. Which for us is awesome. It's hard not to feel spoiled by Babymetal performances. Everything they do is so on the money. The music, the band, the dancing, the singing, the staging is perfection. Even their few mess ups become things of perfection. Just imagine if the first concert you ever saw was Babymetal. You would think that most of the rest of the world is a very boring place. Yup I want to live in the Babymetal galaxy of music. See You

Here we get The Kami Band doing the "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" intro with Aoyama Hideki (drums), BOH (6 string bass), Takayoshi Ohmura (7 string gold guitar), Leda Cygnus (blue guitar). They are dressed as spirits of the dead which is significant in BM lore, but let's concentrate on the music for now. RON is one of Su's solos that allow her to show her individual talent and give the other two girls, Moa and Yui, a chance to rest. This concert is Budokan Black Night in 2014 so Su was just 16 years old. I'm always tempted to recommend more BM songs, but this time I'm going to request that you don't react to a song because you are noticing lots about the structure of the music and this particular song has "lots of music"- don't listen to "Tales of the Destinies" yet, work up to it, and yes, that was meant to intrigue you. RON is a very dark song where Su is chased by something she cannot escape. The repetitive nature of a "rondo" makes this even more frightening and that's explicitly said in the lyrics. I think that the changing time signatures and dissonance of the music are there to make us feel uncomfortable and keep us off balance. The final chorus is as unsettling as the time signatures and offers no happy resolution: It flickers slowly appearing and disappearing in my mind. A nightmare rondo is being repeated. The awakening light is gone far away out of my sight. I can do nothing but fall into the darkness. Some reviewers mention that the song ends very abruptly and that it's hard to settle into...the lyrics imply that there's no hope of waking, but that's often what you feel when you are in a nightmare and then you wake as suddenly as the song ends.

Honestly never can understand why so many people want someone new to BabyMetal watching this performance. It confuses people as it does not have all three girls (as new viewers should witness). There are much more impressive LIVE performances for new reactors to see such as Megitsune or CMIYC even. Certainly Karate LIVE at 2014 Sonisphere Download Festival would be better.
