'Decorative splashiness' is such a cool way to describe something! : D

Boop the like button???....very subdued way of describing that my friend. Lol. I play drums as well and it's so easy to see the nuances that separate good to great to elite drummers. The high hat pressure you spoke of is one of those things. You can generate several different sound accents simply by knowing how and when to use just that...something I never think of. This song feels like it would fit perfectly on Watercolors - my favorite XM station for long drives. I miss an actual horn section with it but man, Henrik's bass lines make me forget about them. Well done sir.

Thanks for checking this one out. It's absolutely gorgeous and one of their best covers if you ask me. But then again, I might be biased, as I was a bit of an Alphaville fan in my teens and listened to that album so much when it came out. 😍

I always appreciated how chill and relaxed Aron is in this video. Locked in and focused. I mean, he always is. But I love seeing him like this. And yeah...I don't know what that little thing Henrik did with his fingers at that particular moment.
@lottawiklund86062 жыл бұрын
Apparently there's some kind of switch you can have on the bass, that lets the string down half a step, and that's what he's doing, to get that really low, booming note (an A, I think it is, and the low string is normally a Bb - not 100% sure about that though).
@fiddlestix30252 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the arrangement of that song is so smooth and mellow. Again it’s one of my favourite Dirty Loops tunes, -as really all of them are 🤣 Loved your appreciation and analysis of this song, Steve. So good to hear your take on it, and especially your ear for Aron’s drumming…it makes me listen to it in a totally new way. One of the big things with Dirty Loops for me is how they create contrast in all they do, and how all the three of them do it. Jonah on keys, he’s making it sing! (And yes, that pitch bend does a lot…) That solo played with one hand (so good how you’ve described it), whilst having the most subtle keys and layered vocal harmonies throughout most of the song, contrasting with Aron’s crisp work and Henrik’s palm muted sounds…Henrik himself creating so much contrast in his playing, how he lengthens and shortens his notes…my thinking is also that the ‘almost swung’ feel might come from his triplets-. The bass and drums being so tight and controlled allow Jonah to soar, as he so often does, across the beat and the bar lines. This piece has the smoothes soundscape to it, and shows the band as such a great, cohesive unit. And that build-up after the keys solo…. 🔥🔥🔥 I love it, and to listen to it together with you and to read everyone’s comments was such a treat! Thanks, Steve 🙏

Great reaction! Still sitting here watching my guitar up on the wall, wondering WTF am I suppose to do with it? Mother of.... theese guys!? Oh man... For ONES!? CAN'T THEY JUST PLAY SOMETHING SIMPLE? jUST A SIMPLE SONG? iS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? I mean, they turned Samsungs ringtone into a musical in two acts with bombs going off at the end so... AAARRRGHHH!!!!!

Ok. Gotta talk about Aron because he really shined on this one. Everything he does seems effortless and chill. He’s got such style and amazing control. I think I’d have a hard time taking my eyes off him performing live… I’m a sucker for drummers. Great remake of Alphaville’s original song. I wonder how DL decide which songs they cover. It’s quite an interesting mish-mash.

It's on my maybe list! I'll have my brother check it out first and give it a thumbs up or down for a reaction video. He vets all my requests as he has a similar taste in music to me (and of course I can't do literally every request I get... I have to be efficient with my time as I have a young family and a full time job) so fingers crossed it makes the cut for a future video!
