Yeah! 😁🤘 For the sake of purists and petty critism you should watch next "Judgement and Punishment", the vocal one-take: There you`ll experience the rawest recording of Tatiana`s voice. After that you don`t have to struggle with some narrowminded pedants anymore, then Tatiana`s skills are proved (that actually fits to that song`s lyrics!) 👍 After that it doesn`t matter what Jinjer song you listen to, you can concentrate on the music alone! But perhaps you should also try out "I Speak Astronomy" when you want to hear more about her singing skills! 😁

So--she uses a ‘clicker’ on her ear piece that works similar to a guitarist’s pedal board to add echo, phase, whatever to the sound. You can see her clicking it at the beginning when her back is to the audience and again when you hear the echo and harmony. Also-there are interviews where Roman (guitarist) talks about their frequent use of Drop A and Drop C tunings. I’m sure you have also noticed the frequent changes in time signatures. This band is phenomenal and Tatiana is simply something the World has NEVER seen!
@bernhardkulzer91253 жыл бұрын
@@Indo1030 You may assume too much! Perhaps the explanation is quite simple: As she moves constantly, she always and again has to adjust her earpiece. There are moments, when she actually loose it for a moment. That effects are prerecorded. Vlad is a time monster and can adjust to his clicks in his ear, so the background noises from the prerecording fit to the live music. What about that?

The backing vocals during the breakdown were added in post production. They were not used/heard during the "actual" performance. There is a fan filmed vid of this performance and the backing vocals are absent. I saw Jinjer live two months after this show. No backing vocals. They do use tracks to reproduce song intros as on the albums. Like the spoken opening one in Perennial , the dog growling at the beginning of Sit Stay Roll Over , the space sound intro of I Speak Astronomy etc. They also use guitar tacks to replicate the album versions on a couple of songs. Sit Stay Roll Over' solo and I Speak Astronomy' for example. Bass has a track used during the breakdown of Teacher Teacher. The 1/4 note triplet pattern before Tatiana starts singing "your idols speak to me". The tracks they use are very sparse. They could be left out and the songs would not suffer.

I saw them live in fall 2019, they had backing vocals on the backing track together with some synth and on occasion at least one additional guitar. I don't think they changed their approach, my guess is that the sound of the backing stuff wasn't picked up properly on the phone recording, or they might have been tampered with, always a possibility... as is me talking out of my ass for that matter 😅

Ah, W.O.A. (Wacken Open Air) 2019. I've been there and it was fantastic. To see the energy of Tatiana jumping around on stage and hearing her voice and the incredible musicianship of Roman, Eugene and Vlad really was an expierience. Jinjer was one of the bands because I bought a ticket for this festival (besides other great bands like Eluveitie, Demons & Wizards and Sabaton). You mentioned her breath control and I would like to recommend another great female metal singer with an extraordinary breath control. This singer does not only change between clear singing and scream/growl like Tatiana (Tatis clean vocals are so beautiful), but can do some other things with her voice. From operatic singing to deep metal growls. Her name is Floor Jansen and she sings in the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. I have browsed the videos that you did on this channel so far and couldn't find any Nightwish there so I suggest the usual entrance to this rabbit hole: "Ghost Love Score" at Wacken 2013 kzbin.info/www/bejne/amjIkGxsZrSEjac . They have a broad variety if songs from hard to soft and even "folkish". You will never be bored listening to them. They use audio backtracks for the symphonic parts, because it would be way to expensive to "carry" a whole orchestra with them on a tour. These parts are played by the London Symphonic Orchestra and they work with a choir and a childrens choir from London also. Floor is Dutch and studied 1 year of opera and 6 years of musical theater at the conservatory in Tilburg. She can sing almost anything. On a Dutch TV-show she sang "Vilja Lied" (an aria from the operetta "The Merry Widow") and "Shallow" (Lady Gaga) and nailed both.

And regarding fitness, Eugene does BJJ and won silver at a recent Abu Dhabi qualifying tournament in Kiev, and posts IG pics from the grappling gyms he visits to keep training while they are on tour. As to the musical stuff, there is a bit of post-production on this compared to the bootlegs of their full set uploaded by PetriAZ, adding in those extra layers. The vocals at the beginning are played from a recording and are from the intro to the song on the album. I'm pretty sure I've seen a few bootlegs where she actually spoke that but usually it is played from a recording - I think they have trouble getting the levels right between the whispering in that part and the rest of the song so they just do the recording - bootlegs of Pisces often have this issue too as she goes really soft at the beginning which sometimes causes issues. Retrospection is one where they usually add a recorded vocal layer toward the end of the song, though the live in Melbourne version omits this - I haven't seen a bootleg from Melbourne so I don't know if they omitted it in the show or just didn't include the recorded vocals in that version of the video.

BJJ is hardcore, I have friend who do it. The additional vocal thing makes sense now. I've used them in live performances but just wasn't sure if it was the done thing at metal gigs but turns out that it is. Which is good because I think it improves the sonic experience!

I've seen comments that say the harmony was added by whoever produced the video for Wacken, but I'm not sure if that is true. When they play live Tatiana's vocals are usually just doubled with a slight delay. Any spoken or whispered lines (like the intro here) are ususally played from a track for whatever reason. Jinjer is one of the best bands in the world, you really can't go wrong with any of their songs. For one of their more aggressive tracks check out Sit Stay Roll Over (official music video or live in Melbourne).

I'm falling more and more in love with them, it could be someone offstage providing harmony because the timing was perfect. The part you replayed sounds maybe like an echo/delay or doubler effect? It seems very much in time with her vocals but a few hundred milliseconds behind and then repeating through a fade out. If any of that makes any sense... LOL Or maybe it's a WELL choreographed pre-recorded backing track. It's definitely a positive addition in my opinion either way. 👍🏻
@PetesVideos3 жыл бұрын
I agree, my ear is definitely picking up harmonies and octave notes so I imagine that it's a pre recorded backing track but regardless it only adds to the sonics of the performance and doesn't diminish their live act at all.
@nimasharifi79993 жыл бұрын
9:43 octave harmonies can be easily added live with a simple flick of a vocals effect unit button, which is usually controlled by the sound guy so that the singer could be more free to act as a front-man/woman. I'm not ruling out the use of pre-recorded backing vocal harmonies, cuz Jinjer's such a tight band live (the drummer probably uses a metronome in sync with the backing track if there's one), but the live harmonizer effect unit is more convenient.

Yeah backing tracks. Some people hate it. Some people love it. Personally I know exactly how hard it is to do it well. If your instruments are even slightly out of tune the vocalist is matching and it sounds great then the backing track would come in totally off tune. It's risky but adds a lot. I used to have a harmony pedal that would add harmony using your own voice in real time but it used the key from the guitar or other instruments plugged into it. It was ok but it had that weird auto tune key change sometimes. That was about 20 years ago though so it might have gotten much better since then.
@PetesVideos3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the latest auto tune (unlimited) has a harmonizer function for recording and for live performances which is relatively intuitive but don't see Tatiana using that. Might be a pedal, if it is a backing track its impressive but over all I think it adds something nice to the song and it doesn't bother me. You do get purists though who get testy about this stuff but who has time to care about that, they are an undeniable talent regardless of one backing track.

The harmoney effect is called "delay". Quite a common effect in modern music! 🤣
