Nothing better than watching Farnsey with a Symphony Orchestra. Between the fun the whole orchestra was having, ably led by Mr Dobbs Franks, along with The cream of Aussie musicians in the Farnham Band and Johns powerhouse vocals....the crowd experienced the concert of a lifetime that night.❤ It seems like you have been a Farnham fan for a while. Have you heard his duet with Jimmy Barnes, another aussie powerhouse, When Something is Wrong with my Baby. Or Duet with Olivia Newton John, Please dont ask Me.. or even a fun performance of Grenada with Anthony Warlow

John's concerts are epic. His energy level is off the charts and his concerts go for well over two hours with him giving it his all. You can see he just loves being out on stage singing to his fans, a born entertainer. He can sing anything. If you haven't heard it yet, check out the sound check John did with Led Zeppelin's Black dog. Fortunately someone recorded it. I've seen the movie, hopefully it will be released internationally.❤

That is so Brilliant ! Remember that most of the people in the Orchestra grew up with John's music. As I would be, they are absolutely wrapped playing music fore John now !

That concert was 1989 at what is now the Rod Laver Tennis Arena where The Australian Open Tournament starts the World tennis grand slam every year. That is pure musical joy to me and I grin throughout every song, often finishing with acheing cheeks from all of my smiling. Help, the last encore was at about the 3 hour mark. John happily gives his heart & soul to his singing and music in general. He never appears more content than when leading his people in song.

This is one reason why John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time, he can sing anything, any genre and make it sound great. I don’t know if you’ve done John’s version of “help” by the Beatles but that’s a great one, but you need to , as always when reacting to John, so it to a live performance where possible. He does an epic version of help in this concert and in the 1990 Melbourne concert does the Beatles version followed by his version, which was awesome.

Another fun fact about "Farnesy" (as us Aussies call him) is that he was also offered the lead role in Queen following Freddie's passing but declined to stay in Australia with his family. I believe he is good friends with Brian May, who attended Australia's Bushfire Appeal concert to perform on stage with John.

I love AC/DC but I have to say this is my favorite version of this epic song. John has seemingly endless vocal range and can sing anything, any genre. The greatest male vocalist of all time. And everyone on that stage is having an absolute ball, including the orchestral conductor.

That was a great reaction! I saw “John Farnham: Finding The Voice” last week and enjoyed it. It filled in some gaps that hadn’t been well publicised before. I hadn’t connected the timing before that “You’re The Voice” was so popular in Germany that it had a big part in galvanising the people to take action in unifying West and East Germany in 1989. I’m not surprised! I think you’ll enjoy the movie.

We sing, for fun - ‘It’s a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll’ lol. How do you know so many small details not everyone knows ? - excellent. Another great and informative review from you again. I love it when orchestra conductor Dobbs Franks laughs, u don’t see that too often after an orchestra performs. Guess not many conduct AC/DC songs lol. And yes, I’ve liked and subscribed 😊 One bit of info, wondering if you know, the American back up singer Venetta Fields was an Ikette. For amazing variety and fun, of John’s voice. Granada with Anthony Warlow from live show, The Main Event is magic.

Thank you, I love the energy of this and the unexpected synergy of orchestra and band. I also enjoyed your comments, thanks! John had a lot more success overseas than people realise, mainly because he only toured briefly or made individual appearances (as for the Prince and Princess of Wales), many for charities. John toured Germany briefly as one leg of his Whispering Jack tour, with one outdoor concert there having an audience of 150,000 people. "You're The Voice" and its album, "Whispering Jack" reached No. 1 in Sweden, Germany and Canada, and top three in Denmark and Switzerland. John was asked to replace Freddy Mercury with Queen, he recorded We Will Rock You with them, which they loved, but again John didn't want the regular overseas travel. "Don't You Know It's Magic" won an award for 'Most Outstanding Performance' at the 1972 World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo. John has always been generous and so many of his performances have been freely given to raise money for charities, especially for people affected by fires, flood and drought in Australia.

Love your reactions. This master singer does so in over 20 genres. John was known in other countries for 'You're The Voice'. For his other singing polarity, please check out, ' (Lifted Up By) Angels' with Lisa Edwards, his backing singer, ( and with bongo drum) and 'Burn For You'. Always see and hear John live in concert as that is usually the best!
