overtures are a staple with ajr, its a sort of mashup of all the songs in the album they've done it for their "living room" and "the click" albums, they didn't do it in neotheatre (which was their latest album before this one) because I think they wanted that album to have a different sort of story, but yeah the main melody in this overture is also the main melody of way less sad
@zoe-maefaulkner1003 жыл бұрын
Ryan said in an interview that they felt that the whole album was sirt of an overture
@mura_saki3 жыл бұрын
@@zoe-maefaulkner100 yeah, there were alot of connections and call backs within the songs in neotheare, which I think is why my fav of the song is the finale, it felt like a whole drop from the build up of the rest of the songs

It’s interesting because this is something that BTS has implemented into their albums too
@jay-virm3 жыл бұрын
3:27 Yes! In all their albums expect Neotheater, they have a tradition of making an overture in their albums which is exactly what you said! An overture is defined as the beginning piece of music that often includes parts of other themes in the show, or in this case, the album. Every single song from each of their albums that has an overture has been snuck into said overture. Neotheater didn't have one because they made a different opener song early on! As a compromise, every song in Neotheater has a small bit of another song from the same album. Basically making the album itself the overture.

AJR's thing with overtures being a medley of the whole album gives me big former theater kid vibes, since that tends to be really common with musicals. (And the fact that I'm picking up on this probably speaks for itself lol)

This! I'm an instrumentalist so I play in the pit at my school's musicals and we typically mash up a bunch of the songs from each act in the overture and entr'acte. This overture is really reminiscent of that! I'm glad other people are seeing that

I have literally all of their songs on my playlist and one of the ones that stick out to me is Thirsty it’s really funky and cool. AJR has been one of my favorite since like 2016ish I’ve been trying to convince my parents to let me buy some of their merch from their shop (which is one of my dreams) but they keep on saying no. ☹️ If I could ever go to one of their concerts that would definitely be a dream come true!!
