Spencer’s notes during the chorus are nothing short of genius, honestly. He’s taking some serious liberties with traditional theory and managing to make the harmonies work perfectly. Oh - and the chord progression was actually used in a previous album. “The Event” in Juggernaut: Alpha. These guys managed to take something old and make it new. Periphery kicks ass bruh

This is one of the most brutal and haunting prog-metal songs I have ever had listened to. The mixture of Djent, prog-metal and jazz is the one of the most intense experiences I ever had listened to a piece of music, It made my brain completely implode on itself.

Saxophone's never left, we've just been hanging out with the Vapor Wave & EDM guys waiting for everyone else to give us a call. Also, if you want to experience another jazz breakdown in a metal song check out Jinjer's "Home Back"

This is a bit nerdy, but I really appreciate how the jazz section recontextualizes some of Spencer’s earlier melody/harmony choices.

I've watched about 20 or so reaction videos to this song and I keep coming back to this one. The "ooh, hey, it's jazz" line just gets me. As a traditionally trained jazz musician who's been into metal for decades, it's fun to see someone can recognize the talent on display here.

That's what I love about the band. Totally fresh sound, and they have plenty of beautiful choruses with absolute satisfaction, but I'm so glad they threw curveballs this song.

No idea what that guy said lmao, but its something that has to grow on you maybe. Then again it certainly isnt for everyone. Maybe it just hasnt connected with you yet, for me i didnt like it either. Must be years ago now, then it hets stuck in your head and its almost like an itch. Then you listen again to scratch that itch...but you still dont really like it. But it keeps itching if you dont listen to it, so you listen again...and again...and again. And them you notice youre just fucking addicted haha. And even while i fucking love periphery, each new song i have to get used to. Didnt know what i was listening to at first, now i cant stop listening again today and probally the coming weeks. But yeah, sorry for the long message. Hope you'll be able to get into them soon. :)

I'm gonna be a bummer. I just don't vibe with these guys anymore. They are a full fledged supergroup at this point- and yet I dont think they are really focused on making enjoyable music. Its just a noise compilation. Also, Spencer sounds so eccentric- so pretentious.
