71 year old BTS Army here. This is the first song in his trilogy. He wants people to view them in order. In this MV, Agust D/Suga faces himself in a constant battle between his revolutionary and humble side against the powerful, cruel and dangerous part of his personality. Next react to "Haegum" and last is "Amygdala" which is the part of the brain that stores traumatic and emotional memories/experiences. It is said that these memories can help prepare you should similar experiences happen in the future. Here is some more tasty tidbits for you. Not sure how you hadn’t listened to this before but I find it musically and production wise as genius level. He created one of the unique and hard songs I’ve ever heard. Brilliant MV he wrote the story board for and I think Haegum is even better. Amygdala is the cherry on top.

Notice the Butcher in the market is the Executioner plus the fight in the market was between Jin and Jungkook. Yes he mixes up his flow's, his candance is on fire and his word play is brilliant just as we expect from him. Of course he's going to use them he's a creative genius. I love his use of traditional military music. I loved it when and then dived into all the cultural references just had to as it was so interesting.

This song made me like Rap, as a genre...but oddly enough, only the ones from BTS (as a group and solo works). There is just something different about this one especially. It is melodic, both instrumentally and vocally. I have always liked the traditional music like this, but Suga's flow (and the flow changes), are just WOW. At 55 years old, I have been subjected to all sorts of Rap. Most of it hurts my ears and breaks my musical...lyrical...senses. I'm glad you finally listened to it closely. Better late than never lol 💜💜💜💜💜

When music is timeless, it doesn't matter when you discover it. Like you said, better late than never. It's just great that you get to enjoy it now. I'd love to experience this song for the first time all over again. The traditional instruments are so gorgeous when mixed with modern sounds. I would never have imagined it would mix so smoothly when they sound like they're from opposite ends of the timeline of music.

Suga truly is a genius. He uses the 2 characters, the mad king and the peasant to represent 2 personas, he greedy self who wanted to be the best and make money and his humble good oersona, supported by his other 6 BTS members and ARMY. The gun Suga used at the end is a Colt Army Model 1860, so he used ARMY to kill off his greedy persona. So now you need to react to Haegeum which is the 2nd part of his trilogy and then Amygdala the final part, which is more like a prequel explaining the birth of his Agust D persona.

It's not that the new king overtook the old one, but rather the real king overtook the imposter. The clue is in his rap line that mentions "Gwanghae flow", referring to Gwanghae-gun the 15th ruler of the Joseon Dynasty, the king that appears in the movies "The Crowned Clown" and "Masquerade". The storyline of those 2 movies had the king be in hiding as a commoner, as he was under threat at the time, while the commoner took his place on the throne and lived in the palace. So in the end of this music video, the real king who is now the commoner had to kill the imposter sitting on his throne, in order to reclaim his rightful place. That being said, the imposter on the throne can also represent the big public persona Suga has become, as opposed to his authentic self. So to stay true to who he really is inside, he needed to get rid of that persona.

I would also like you to try BTS RAPLINE CYPHER MEDLEY LIVE. You guys are totally sleeping on BTS each member monsters on their field of expertise. Contrary to popular beliefs their popular songs is not what makes BTS but their underrated masterpieces rather but most of those songs are lyric heavy and not typical pop so it doesn't become popular. However, if you ask true army their fav songs mostly all of them will not answer their popular songs such as permission to dance, butter, dynamite, DNA, boy with Luv, fake love, etc. Most of us would go to their masterpieces. Because COMMERCIAL BTS and BTS is completely different. Most of their songs is for Korea. Since their songs are mostly social commentary such as BAPSAE/SILVER SPOON, AM I WRONG, SPINE BREAKER, UGH, SPRING DAY, etc. SPRING DAY

You may not need to watch the explanation video for the cultural references, but it also has the storyline behind it. I'm over here in the United States but what I remember from the storyline behind the video is that the king is a tyrant king. He's had people who were his opposition eliminated murdered killed if you don't listen or not you didn't comment on it the first time, he makes the flies across the neck jester they actually have a headless body kneeling down and the executioner is picking up the guy's head and putting it in a basket. He's got heads hanging off of poles off the second floor of the palace and heads in those file boxes. The other character that he plays in the video although they modernized it is a peasant who was actually a son of another family member who was excise from the royal family actually in the line of succession for being king. Interesting information that was passed around to army fans of other countries is that Suga AKA Agust D is actually a descendant of whatever the term is queen or Princess of one of the last ruling dynasties of Korea he is actually a descendant of royalty and has royal blood supposedly. Back to the video at the beginning of the video when he is in the peasant costume and walking down the aisle with the shopkeepers and everything it shows the scene with the butcher chopping up the meat look closely the butcher is also the King's executioner. So, sugars alter ego the peasant who was actual play an outcast of the royal family and the butcher AKA royal executioner made a pact that when the king ordered his execution, he would fake it and have a gun ready for him. This video came out on August days second mix tape D2. In 2020. It actually ended up being part of a trilogy the final two songs may be out of order or on sugar as Agust D's first solo album which was released a couple of months ago. You do realize they recently celebrated their 10th anniversary as a group from debut to 10 years because of course they were together some members for 11 years some for 12 years some for 13 years. Did you know that supposedly sugar actually has royal blood he's descends from one of the last Korean dynasties his great great great great great great great however many greats grandmother was an Empress. You know there is an explanation video before this for the cultural references I'm sure you wouldn't need to watch it but for the story you might. You have the tyrant king if you know this was having people's heads cut off and they were questioning his authority or saying he was a bad king or for any reason basically. He represents either Agust D or Suga or min youngi. The peasant who is really the rightful heir to the throne and king. Also represents one of the three personas of Suga.

After watching Daechwita can you tell us why >99% of their Korean audiences are women? Globally, that number is more like 70% with many men attending their concerts. Their music encompasses many different genres so interested in your take on their music as Korean men. Definitely react to Haegum and Amygdala (the trilogy about AGUST D )
