Thanks fellas. It's always good to hear Bridear. As another commenter said, Ignite was written before the band welcomed current drummer Natsumi and guitarists Moe (house-left with the black ESP) and Ayumi (house-right with the Dean ML). If you want to hear Natsumi giving it the beans, Daybreak is a good option. She's also put up a drum playthrough for it. About eighteen months ago, an interviewer asked the band which song they'd choose to represent Bridear. Three of the members picked Ghoul, so that might be worth checking out too.

Road is another good one for Natsumi, especially the playthrough of it with Moe.

Full original line up of Bridear from 10 years ago, **Warning** Bloody Loud recording if you are on headphones kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5_Fm36ngrSHm5Y And this line up is killer, but so is the current one as well really enjoying their attempts to boraden their sound ( perhaps not always sucessfully ) but at least they are not content to keep rehashing the same old sounds and tropes again and again.

I really like this live performance by Bridear. The band needs more of them on KZbin ... These 5 women are a unit at the moment. Best conditions for great new stuff. The new album is eagerly awaited! 🤘🤘

Somehow missed this when you first posted it. One of my favorite rock/metal bands. I saw them live in London in 2019 at Metal Matsuri. They crushed it. They are working on a new album that should drop late this year.

Bridear is one my most favorite bands and their drumer Natsumi is one the best drummers for me And their guitarist Ayumi is one of the best guitarist . Saki of nemophila hand picked her for her guitar girls tour

Ignite is one of the few early songs they still play today. I am glad that they uploaded a version with the latest line up. They did a studio session cover Arch Enemy's The Eagle Flies Alone right about when AE was going to tour Japan last year.

This song was originally done with former members Misa and Mitsuru on guitars along with Kai on drums.. Misa (Misato Ono) who speaks English well, would do all the growls. She was the first to leave followed by the others a year later... Fun fact: The next replacement Drummer was Yuri, who stayed only a month before deciding to go to Gacharic Spin instead. This allowed Natsumi (Send Nudes) to be their current drummer.

Marys Blood and Aldious is also two great japanese metal bands to check out

I agree 100%. For Mary’s Blood you could try either this studio MV m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/g32wY6iki5Werbc&pp=ygUTTWFyeSdzIGJsb29kIG1hcmlvbg%3D%D Or this live MV m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGqwl51qral2orM&pp=ygUTTWFyeSdzIGJsb29kIGh1bmdlcg%3D%3D You’ve reacted to a studio MV by Aldious, but I recommend you try a live one such as this m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaHcZmx7pMR6Z5I&pp=ygUQYWxkaW91cyBhYnNvbHV0ZQ%3D%3D

Their set was at 10:30 in the morning. I was lucky enough to see them twice in small clubs in Tokyo in the last year and they’re smokin’ hot live. They’ll be leaving for Sweden soon to record a new album. I can’t wait. This is their latest song which is a bit pop metal sounding; m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/laCxn2yNnJKphLM If you just want to see the drummer Natsumi go nuts, here’s a drum solo, unfortunately the sound quality is not that great, but she’s awesome: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJmlfYF_na-qd6M

Great band! I was about to see them live in Sweden in 2021, I had a VIP ticket and all, then they cancelled the show due to Covid restrictions 😭

I don't know the original track that well, but the current drummer (Natsumi) didn't write the drumparts for this track. She only joined in 2019 and the this track is from 2017.

I kinda wish Ayumi had been a little more prominent in the mix for this one (like on the Aegis of London live album) because I love her voice. The V-bass is standard for Haru. I can't say as much about Band-Maid, but I respectfully disagree about the Bridear style. As someone else put it, since they encapsulated this well: "They can easily shift from power metal to prog to hard rocking kawaii pop (sometimes within the same song)." I'd actually add a bit of classic rock and doom metal to that. The members definitely have a variety of influences. Then there are all the strong melodies that help make the songs memorable.

I've just spent way too much time trying to find out about Haru's basses, and I'm going to share it so I can pretend that I make good use of my time. The usual warning with machine-translated articles applies. I really wanted to find out about the odd-shaped white ESP she uses in the Ghoul and Brave New World Revisited MVs among others. It turns out to be an E-II Stream. One review I found likened it to a Thunderbird reimagined by H. R. Giger. The Flying Vs she's been using more recently are Burny FVB series. I think they're borrowed from ka-yu, formerly of Janne Da Arc, but I can't find a good source for that. She often records on a five-string, but she finds them unwieldy to play live so she rearranges her parts for a four-string tuned CGDC. That's the low four notes of a typical five-string, with the top three dropped another full tone and the bottom one raised a semitone. Misaki asked her to include slapping in Glitter, so she had to practice pick-switching.

@@iaingeo Good info, thank you! Glitter is one of my favorite Bridear songs, incidentally.

Love me some early Bridear. The early Bridear sound is much more gritty and heavy. As this video shows the current players can play. The edgy old raw sound just does not show up as much now.
