You don't have to use midi channels in the arrange page. You can create tracks for the aux channels in the arrange page and assign them the relevant midi channels. You can then place or record midi onto those tracks. It means you don't have to deal with two tracks for each of the Kontakt channels.

Ah, worked it out. Added another stereo out for the kick in Logic by pressing the + in the mixer. Then in Kontakt did the same in the Outputs bit. Thanks again

Really excellent video - I have only one add-on question: how do you alter the process when your Kontakt multi-instrument utilizes more than 16 instruments (i.e., if you use all 4 banks Kontakt gives you)? Is there a work-around for Logic X's limitation of 16 channels for each multi-timbral instrument?

I am currently using Logic Pro as well, and my machine is not as powerful, I get a lot of those System Overload messages and Im looking for option in how to shape my workflow to be more optimized and less heavy on RAM and processor. This is great but wished he had said something about you can't save the Mixer settings with the project. You have to add those other channels (the + sign) every-time you re-open the project.

Have you found a way to have different MIDI FXs loaded on the different tracks pointing to the same multitimbral instrument? As of now, if I put an arpeggiator on say track one, it plays all other tracks as well

How do you do multiple outputs on a drum kit in kontakt. For example, send the kick to aux 1 and the snare to aux to on the mixer. Finding it very frustrating that I can't mix my drum kit with my effects plugins

Hi I noticed you're using logic in a similar way to ableton for setting up separate tracks. I'm using ableton at the moment, and open kontakt as a plugin in each track, would it be a good idea to close kontakt every time you are working on each track in ableton? (if each track is using kontakt)

Hi ! Thanks for the vids, i've two questions. After I created de multitrack and used Kontakt there are somethings that I couldn't figure out. If I mute one Track, all other Kontakt tracks mute too and the same happens if for example I create an Enverb for just one track, it enverbs every other track too. I guess i've got to know how tu use de Bus channels and stuff for that, is it so?

No, you need to isolate the groups that contain those samples and route the output of the groups.

I hate that in edit view there's different tracks compared to the mix view. I come from Pro Tools background and using Kontakt is so much simpler there... been learning Logic recently (mainly for it's great synths) and it's a pain in the ass.

hi guys...can somebody please help me with this question please...i would like to know how to open a sample in kontakt 4...lets say a vengeance sample...and i want that sample to have the same duration for example in miliseconds across my whole keyboard...ive noticed that when i open my vengeance samples in kontakt 4 that they speed up the higher i go from bass to treble...low to high whatever you want to call it...isnt it possible to have the same articulation or speed no matter which key i press?is it something to do with key follow or key track or something along those lines??please help thankyou

Actually, you do not need to take those midi channdels to send midi to different instruments. Just instantiate kontakt as a multichannel plugin and configure the outputs then from the logic mixer, create arrange tracks for the output aux channels. Then use these aux channels to send midi to different midi channels. This way you can avoid Logic's multitimbral nonsense.

Yep. This is not the way to do it. Don’t create multi timbral at beginning. Just create 1. Kontakt. Multi output. Then add your AUX in Logic with plus. Then highlight all AUx you created. In mixer. Right click. Choose create tracks. And BaM. The tracks are now in your arrange. And the faders are all independent. And linked to mixer And you can have individual volumes. Pans. Effects.

Plugin format of Kontakt does not support multi-core processing. So your much better off using multiple instances of kontakt within a DAW.
