Love hearing these guys talk about the early 90's music scene. 1988-94 was the last truly great era for rock. So many all-time great rock bands (Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine, Stone Temple Pilots...) and so many classic albums from that era. The (roughly) 1965-72 era is generally considered the best rock music ever created and I do love that era. But I'd put 1988-94 up against it any day. Every bit as great. P.S. I wish Stone had been let loose more in PJ. In his prime, Stone was one of the best riff-writers in rock. Eventually, Eddie Vedder took that band's direction over and Stone's guitar lost prominence in that band.

Saw that tour at Northern Illinois University....all 3 bands absolutely crushed it!! Flea, Chad and Anthony were at the rec center shooting hoops earlier in the day so I got to meet them briefly. Pretty sure Jeff and Ed from PJ were there too but at that time no one had a clue who PJ were...in fact they didn't get a real warm reception. The crowd wanted to see the Pumpkins because they were hometown heroes and Gish was just out...and of course RHCP had just dropped BSSM...this was my 2nd Chili Peppers show and it was easily the best Ive seen them play. John was still happy to be playing with them so he was still just on fire. Easily one of my favorite concert experiences.

2:05 - Saw it. State Theater. Kalamazoo Michigan. Thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I think that's the "climbing the light rigging" performance from Eddie Vedder that made the music video for Alive. Unless he did that for every show? Shortly after that concert, I saw Primus open for Fishbone. The State Theater was the best concert venue in Michigan after Joe Louis Arena. That was the "dream gig" for the local bands in K-Zoo. Mine only made it as far as Club Soda.

That was truly a special time in rock n roll. I was fortunate enough to see that tour in ‘91 with RHCP, PJ, and SP at the Rocky Point Palladium in MA, which was an amusement park during the day. I was so young that my parents dropped my best pal and I off at the show. It was epic to say the least, and was young enough to actually remember the show. My parents were awesome enough to drop my friend and I off at the same venue the night after that to see The Pixies. Glad I didn’t know how massive all of those bands would become. I think... 🎶👍🔊🙂

Saw them both Saturday August 8th 1992 @ Great Woods Center for the Performing Arts in Mansfield, MA. If you witnessed thus even you'd have to admit it was one of the most insane concerts ever witnessed. The fans tore down the 10ft high perimeter fencing after and before it rained down sod, yes literal grass/sod clumps for hours on end. It was the Boston Herald 8/10/92 in an article titled both "Rock fans rampage at Great Woods" and "Vandalism, fires erupt at Great Woods rock festival"

I know this is a cliché thing to say, but I'm currently 23 and I've loved the Chili Peppers since I was about 9 and I discovered Pearl Jam and the whole Seattle Scene when I was about 13. Loved them ever since. I love the 90's music scene. Still some of my favorite music to this day.

God I love these guys. I'd love to be sitting there. I grew up defending my love for Chili Peppers back in 1985, 86. I was obsessed, and now my kids are obsessed. They're adults now spreading the Chili Peppers to all their friends. I have fliers for them playing nightclub gigs in Austin. So cool! I finally saw them in Dallas with my daughter and niece. We had a great time!

That was really fantastic. I remember when their music was new. I didn’t think I was young; I thought I was old. Now I think I’m young...it’s funny how history shapes the contemporary into understanding that nothing has changed. My music has changed...if you are interested check my channel and my albums on Apple and Google play
