Everytime I see someone reacting to Yebba for the first time all I can think is, “they ain’t ready for what’s about to happen”
@NatalieValentina62 жыл бұрын
If you haven't already, please check out Yebba's live, video version of "October Sky"...It's stripped down & perfect, just 2 guitars, her voice, & a sneaky Heart interpolation😋. The video itself is serene & beautiful, but its backstory is deeply emotional & personal to her. Yebba is one of the few artists, where I believe her live versions are BETTER than the studio versions. She can also slip into unexpected genres, & fit in like a key to a lock. I can't wait to see her perform live someday!

I happen to think live is pretty much always better than studio if you're listening to real musicians.

That Bbm7 on the guitar as a transition is filthy. Total Tarantino/noir vibe that works beautifully.

Yebba is a phenomenal musician!That electrifying and haunting melodic intro reminded of that old classic Pat Metheny Group sound from the early 80s, ❤❤❤❤ She is extraordinaire and captivating! She’s a sure Gift from God!

There are certain artists, many of them thankfully, who express their spirits, their essence, with such perfection, if there is such a thing, that we are carried away to the heavens with their energy. It's the soul, the spiritual experience we can have being able to relate to this kind of artistry that it can both carry us away from our own lives, and also see what's possible when we let our spirits fly. It's of the gods, literally. Thank you for the insightful reaction.

Um guess what?! New Yebba releases! From Electric Lady studios! She covered Age of Worry by John Mayer. Amazing. AND Paranoia Purple will hurt your heart it's so good! I await reactions.
@nyyankeeslady2 жыл бұрын
Ok, I've been thinking I need to elaborate on one of the Electric Ladyland songs really quickly. Sorry if this is old news to you. Please listen to the album version of Paranoia Purple first, all the way to the end. When you've stopped crying, watch the live version. Here's some background too; Yebba's mama died by suicide right around the time of her My Mind performance. That should explain the moving performance. Anyways, she has spent the last 5 years crafting the album that bears her mama's name, Dawn. I believe that Paranoia Purple is Yebba's interpretation of Dawn's transition into death. It's very clear she loved her mama dearly & is still hurting. Sorry for the long comment, I just love music, & Yebba, & I love packing my skull full of knowledge. PS, love your posts!

I love your reaction. Us white people rarely react appropriately to such a talented musician (stink face n head bops) I love love love how you can just hear it and play it. Obviously you've studied but it stills amazes me how quick musician's just pick it up so quickly. Also your love for yebba made me tear up. I get very emotional over music especially when other ppl love what I love about it. She moves me too. Always wanting for the new stuff.

I noticed you haven't checked out Crown Lands yet, a young Canadian rock duo. Please react to the catchy "White Buffalo". Singer Cody Bowles has a high, saxophone-like tone and accompanies himself on drums.

You know her music is kind of middle eastern. Listen to a music from countries like Morroco Algeria Tunisia. And you'll understand what I'm talking about. But be careful not to dictate to it.

Your reactions are amazing! Yebba is wonderful! Huge talent! You should react to Faouzia (live versions, such as Tears of Gold and Elon). I think you'd like.
I'd love to see you do a Lamb of God song. Momento Mori is excellent from a production standpoint.

Try to remember that others will be hearing that song for the first time. When you play your keyboard and interrupt the flow of the song, you ruin it for us. I will now search this up in order to enjoy it in its entirety.

That's ornamentation, not exactly melody... don't you think? Also, watching this because Yebba is my main listening go-to. But still, the melismatic quality of her singing is a layer on top of melody, not the melody itself.
