Jeez, i've had that logical editor sitting in my Cubase for years and never used it. This intro is a great tutorial, thanks a lot.

I’ve only watched 90 seconds of this and it’s already more useful to me than Greg Ondo’s video on the same subject. I’m a relative newbie to midi editing and this describes the terminology in a nice simple manner. Thanks.

Very good introduction to this editor!!! Thanks a lot !!! While watching this video a lot of ideas are coming through my head how to use this "mystical" editor!!! (little addition: In the lower area of the logical editor (in the middle) you can choose between two modes where it says "function": The first (choosen here) is "transform" , the second is "select" if I remember correctly)

Great, Thanks!! I've moved back to Cubase from decades ago - I use this editor in Logic pro X - So this is really handy - Cubase's version appears to be more powerful and more musically useful.

dude, great tutorials. keep on doing what ya doing! I have one question though: I need two hotkeys which I didn't find (neither googling nor in the shortcuts menu of cubase). One for opening my VST and one for opening the drum editor in fullscreen (and also closing both things with the aforementioned shortcuts as well, of course). Any ideas? It costs me ton of time everytime I need to click the symbols with the mouse....
@musictechtuition6 жыл бұрын
Hi - Thanks! You'll need to assign a keyboard shortcut to open the drum editor - go to Preferences > Key Commands > Editors > Open Drum Editor and then select an unused shortcut (such as SHIFT D) and assign it. That won't close it though, you'll need to use CTRL + W to do that. When you say 'opening VST', what exactly do you mean?
@0oTHEJACKo06 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks, yeah I assigned a shortcut, but I cant close it with the same shortcut. I have to use the mouse for that -.-. By opening the VST I mean I want to open the Interface of the Plugin with a shortcut. For example Addictive Drums 2. There is a symbol with keys called edit instrument. I want a shortcut for that one as well :)
@0oTHEJACKo06 жыл бұрын
sometimes the edit symbol I want a shortcut for is also a lower case "e".^^

OK, so to toggle an Instrument window on the current track, that's in Key Commands under Edit > Edit VST Instrument. As it's a toggle, the same shortcut will open and close the window (I set mine to CTRL + E (on mac) to test it). The drum editor window can be closed without the mouse - CTRL + W (on Windows - command W for Mac). HTH.

Very well done and much needed. It is curious, however, that the Logical Editor refers to Pitch as Value 1 and Velocity as Value 2. That seems a gratuitous obfuscation, though there is no doubt a reason that might be offered for it.
@musictechtuition3 жыл бұрын
It's because that's how they are encoded as part of the MIDI specification.

Hello, dear sir. Beautiful explanation, long live the hands. I have a question How to enter more than one value for each existing control within the selected list Like if i add CC7 and CC10 and CC11 and I want CC7=70 and CC10=64 and CC11=100 in same time
@musictechtuition Жыл бұрын
Do you want to set those values, or filter on them?
@MohammadSalah1979 Жыл бұрын
@@musictechtuition both of them for each empty Track Even if in 2 steps it’s okay better then add each track all this cc I need to add Cc7 Cc10 Cc11 Cc71 Cc74 Cc91 Cc93 Cc94 Cc0 Cc32 Too much cc in every track I hope to find a short cut for this in logical editor 🙏🏼

How would you add the velocity randomness to midi drums? I want different parts of the kit to hit in a specific range of velocities but I've only figured out how to apply one range to the entire kit
@musictechtuition4 жыл бұрын
HI Matt. You'd need to combine filtering of the notes (see the next part of this series) along with the randomness that you've already mastered. Then you can apply individual random ranges to whatever part of the kit that has passed the filter.

List editor is a little different, video upcoming in the new year on it.
@nachoci68764 жыл бұрын
how to delete some notes and add others??
@musictechtuition4 жыл бұрын
You'd need to do two separate operations in the logical editor, as delete is a setting at the bottom, so it's not possible to do deletion and insertion at the same time.

Saw this doesn't come with Elements so not spending the extra money just to have this function. This is how Cubase tries to get more money out of you.
