One of my favorite things about Shambhala: on story maps, there’s sort of a mini-cutscene segment at the start where characters talk and help set the mood. The song that plays on the mission starts playing during it, or in cases like Between Heaven and Earth it has the start on loop. On the map this song plays, the song doesn’t *at all* until the talking ends. The only other time I can remember that happening is on the map where God Shattering Star plays.

I love that Between Heaven and Earth and Blue Skies and a Battle are the same song but Between Heaven and Earth is more intense because it is a real battle instead of a mock battle

Fun fact: the songs A Promise and Unfulfilled sound very similer and it makes sense as A Promise is when you make a Promise to your students and Unfufilled plays when the promise is Unfulfilled. sorry for bad spelling

If you wonder why most of the rain versions are better, that’s because that’s what you will be hearing the most. The thunder versions are in combat so you’ll hear the thunder version for just a bit, and then after the combat phase it shifts back the the unit select, so the transitions sound really good. I do agree though that most of the rain versions are better even though both are amazing

the very point of thunder versions is that they play only when 2 units are fighting, the game switch between rain and thunder at the same timestamps when a fight happen in order to always keep continuity. In the end during a chapter you hear like 95% of the time the rain version and 5% the thunder version.

I prefer almost every single Rain version to their Thunder counterpart, but that is kind of how they are designed: Rain is what you hear during the tactical part of this tactics game, while it transitions into Thunder during the relatively brief windows of combat where it changes its focus from being strong in its own right to elevating the action.

One thing I'll say about the Thunder versions - they aren't even always supposed to go _harder_ than their Rain versions, but they're supposed to be chaotic. Hectic. Messy. Because what they portray is fighting and bloodshed, with all that that entails, so if the Thunder theme ever feels like it's doing a bit Too Much, trust me when I say that it feels very appropriate in the moment. I'll be honest, I prefer the Rain version of almost every track, because they're cleaner and neater, and usually convey the ideas of their melody better - but the Thunder version isn't supposed to be _clean_ after all. It's the noisy drone of battle, captured in a track. And that, it's very good at. (Add to that the fact that you only ever hear a few seconds of the Thunder version as battles flash in and out of the Rain version, and every part of the Thunder version needs to have that adrenaline-inducing effect.)

At the same time, Thunder versions will often play at times when the main characters say important lines right before combat. So it makes sense that they should make less higher pitched sounds or lyrics. They could collide with the dialogue.

Idk if they’re in the playlist you’re using, but Three Houses features a few songs from prior Fire Emblem games. If you want, you could use them to get a taste for their style of music, to see if you want to do streams for those games as well.

so A Leader's Path is El's (Edelgard's) theme and The King of Loins is Dimitri's theme but I personally don't think those songs fit those two because a theme is supposed to embody that character for me Indomitable Will is a better theme for El and Recollection and Regret is a better theme for Dimitri for two reasons for El Indomitable Will tells about her unwavering resolve to change Fodlan and how she will ether free Fodlan or die trying to. for Dimitri Recollection and Regret tells Dimitri pain and gilt he carries though out the game it also that I first heard those at major moments for those two characters
