Have fun! :)
Spooky Tooth is an English rock band originally formed in Carlisle in 1967. Principally active between 1967 and 1974, the band re-formed several times in later years.
Prior to Spooky Tooth, four of the band's five founding members had performed in the band Art (formerly known as The V.I.P.'s). Following the dissolution of Art, the members of that band's final line-up (guitarist Luther Grosvenor, vocalist Mike Harrison, drummer Mike Kellie and bassist Greg Ridley) joined forces with American keyboardist/vocalist Gary Wright in October 1967 and formed Spooky Tooth. Wright was introduced to the members of Art by Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records.
Their debut, It's All About, was released in June 1968 on Island Records and was produced by Jimmy Miller, who was also the man behind the boards for Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith.
The second album, Spooky Two (March 1969), also manned by Miller, gained some attention in the rock press but, like the debut, failed to sell. It was the last album release by the original lineup and included their now classic version of the Larry Weiss penned "Evil Woman" and "Better by You, Better than Me", which was covered by Judas Priest on their release Stained Class (1978).

I remember seeing Spooky Tooth at a local gig in 1968 UK. They were the support band. The main band did not arrive. Spooky Tooth agreed to cover this. They ended up playing three sets of just over half an hour each- all ended up identical as they only had prepared for a short set. . Quite brilliant live music. I was quite happy to hear it three times.

Thats so awesome you were able to witness them live. I think they're one of the best and influential groups of all time. Underrated is an understatement, but they probably take the cake in that category too!

I was a pre teen and found the vinyl for Spooky 2 im the late 80s and I Still own it. It's amazing. Back in the late 80s. Born too late...I love Mott The Hoople, too. My mom said I was a f word hippy. I was born decades after her, but I was more of a hippy than she ever was lmfao a guitar playing hippy...

When I was at school he was a barman in Carlisle. Lovely man. He had a comeback gig with a band called Saigon (with Hilton Valentine of The Animals). The Carlisle gig is still one of my top 3 ever (and I've seen a lot!). Musical highlight of my life was a Xmas jam at the Twisted Wheel. Mike got up (I didn't know who he was as I was just 17) and kicked off the local semi-pro guitarists and said "you can stay". Jammed The Letter and a couple of others. He was sooooooo different class to anyone I'd ever played with. RIP Mike. And thanks :-)

In my opinion no live performances of this song that can be seen here on KZbin reach the single version. It starts with the drum solo, obviously the drummer forgot the beat that he played on the single version. There4 I like and own the single version of WItin for the wind, one of my favorite songs of that decade…. Anyway, Gary Wright tried his best as the lead singer, well done ! It‘s a great loss for all of us, that he passed away. But if you think of all artists which left us throughout a year…. So sad….

(lyrics, copy pasted from Google. some seem to be out of order.) Lonely is the night Now that darkness has fallin' And the world is callin' Nothing seems right Everybody's looking back As the wind comes whispering by The're waitin' for the answers then Like the time they heard a cry Hang on I know Don't ever go Life's here Wind called on me How it took me by surprise Creeping through the distant skies Cause night come upon me Wind tell me what you can A breeze blew and whispered then In a voice rich as the sun 'Bout the life - What I came from Hang on I knowDon't ever go Life's here
