I like the more succinct, less bloated podcasts. I don't need a complete recap of everything in every podcast. This was perfect.

I totally agree. I especially dislike clicking podcast with mostly filler in the beginning before getting to the announced topic at the end. Many channels fo it THAT way.

The comparison of Starship to air travel is intriguing. It’s not just about the technology but how it redefines logistics and connectivity. Space as a transportation norm? Mind-blowing.

Dragon will be nearly useless once the ISS is deorbited. Shotwell's 6 to 8 years coincides with this event. Even if Starship doesn't get human rated by then, it will effectively obsolete Falcon Heavy.
@johnmarcellais7924Күн бұрын
Well not really. Commercial versions to replace ISS are heavily dependent on Dragon.

Have to Keep both Falcon and or heavy on stand by in case there are any problems with Starship. always possibility and with backups in place should keep cadence going with slight delay for in house investigation. Just a thought.

Could they bolt 2 extra first stages to the bottom of a Starship tanker shot to get more fuel into orbit. Also my first task after building and successfully testing the tanker would be an oxygen atmospheric harvester with powerful Nitrogen Ion engines in a very low orbit. Also could they power the harvester using rechargeable batteries and then later get it to dock with a solar cell array in a higher orbit?

Orbital refuelling safe landing, at least 2 catch towers for back up landing options. Better heat shield. Faster building rockets. Cost £100000 per passenger if each launch costs £1000000

Hey, thanks for your broadcast Wich I like very much. Just to let you know that at 2:35 timing of the video, you are saying that the Starship with it's booster are about almost the same size as the Eiffel tower.... Wich is absolutely not true! Starship and it's booster on the actual model are about 121m eight. The Eiffel Tower is about 330m heigh and weight 10100 tons!😢😢 The four legs of the Tower make a square of 125m side I know it well as I live not so far from it in France. 😊 See ya! Jacques

We should see upgrades begin to actually accelerate now. They are starting to come back in better condition, to the point it retards developement. Saw on another channel mention of a semi metalic tile upgrade.. Which I thought humorous, having mentioned that possibility in a prediction here on Alpha Tech.... Funny how that kind of stuff gets released elsewhere... surely just a coincidence... 🤔 And while I'm poking fun, just wanted to mention another realization related to the old Zinc plating via arc spraying that was used in Marine hulls some at one time, That a similar system could be used in heat shields, even for semi non metalic elements, By using a system like flux core welding, where your metalics were the hollow wire and your ceramics or other refractory were a powder as the core. You might want to mix metalics in the core powder too, to avoid a surface slagging effect unless that effect could somehow work for you. Would be nice for intermediate areas of the ships, using thicker tiles where things are more critical, and then a wash of electric arc applied coatings up past those fried areas in the last flight. Nice part about it, is you could save weight, and even use it under the tiles, and apply it robotically... Anyway, nice to see my predictive abilities continue... that I occaisionally count coup on SpaceX... Its a fun hobby, and hopefully sometimes helpful...😊 Looking forward to a great future as Starship morphs bigger and better.... But from the looks of things we need "Opera Glasses" To spot the competition trailing behind... If this was a horse race, poor "Blue Origin" has been lapped a couple times... 😂 Maybe Jeff should sell it to somebody with enough money? Or smart enough to begin to seriously compete... I think Rocket Lab will pass Blue Origin by a lap soon too, Beck is a strange Kiwi Bird, but his out of the box thinking ability is exquisite!

your suggestion is great! that's probably why it's popping up on some SpaceX youtube channels. I like your ideas too

@alphatech4966 Thanks! I try, always thinking about the problems and potential solutions, and support others doing the same. Was just over on Great SpaceX doing a writ, and they mentioned something a guy presented to me in a reply that I thought was good, So I'm happy for that guy! An Idea he promoted now being talked about. Its what I love about SpaceX, not too good to use concepts from the public. Elon has greatly benefited by being a great listener and thinking about things the Riff Raff point out... 😄 Its definitrly helped get a lead over Blue Origin. There's alot of thinking power in the channel subs... Elons gotten some engineering free lunch... And likely keeps his guys on their toes about missing things... Its a mild competion like benefit.

Musk is putting NASA and others to shame with efficiencies and cost effectiveness not seen before. Musk's genius is his vision and being able to impart it to a well organized workforce and inspire them -- versus detailed engineering acumen. Too many cite the latter as proof he's not a genius. They don't understand true genius. He understands and can articulate the First Principles but need not execute the details for which he has experts to carry that out. He learns essential elements quickly. Musk is a Big Picture guy, not a minutiae dude, assembling the major pieces together in harmony to make it all happen. We call it Large Scale System Engineering and Management. It's akin to a symphony director who does not need to be able to play a harp, but only needs to understand the principles of playing one and what the result sounds like when played expertly -- to impart to the orchestra his vision for interpreting the music being performed. ---------------------- Using Starship for air travel between cities isn't feasible as designed. Ballistic trajectories through space, even in near earth orbit, must be carefully planned to avoid the junk debris and other orbiting objects. Not to mention the higher G Forces compared to an airliner. Someone's 95 year old grandma or an 8 month pregnant woman, or similarly infirmed people cannot withstand it. They'd require physicals to confirm they can withstand the G-Forces. The use of SST is much more feasible for the 5th to 95th percentile of people and their physical condition, even if it does take a couple hours longer. Then we get into weather, another issue that easily prevents launches and landings compared to airliners.

100$ per kilo, average person is 60 kilo, that's $6000 a ticket. But 100$ per kilo is based on 200 or 400 tons per launch. 100 people is only around 8 - 10 tons, which means launch cost is divided by 100x less payload. Little less fuel, but clearly tickets are going be way too expensive for average person ($60k/flight or more) unless they custom develop a mass transit vehicle.
@alphatech49669 сағат бұрын
This may seem right but in the long run SpaceX will definitely spend time tweaking it to make it even cheaper!

I believe it will be years and years before Starship would be used for air travel. So far away, in fact, that I believe some other technology will leapfrog it. Think of the prep time. Not just rocket refurbishment but just loading propellants and cargo -- especially if passengers. Think of all the environmental issues today. How close to major cities much less city centers do yo think that is going to happen? People have to pass physicals and undergo training (and wear special clothing) for the New Shepard hops. For Starship? And if you think the FAA and other regulatory agencies around the world are strict today, how do you think they will handle Starship flight complexities? Even at the Cape and Vandenberg weather causes flight delays of a day or more. What good is a 40 minute flight if it takes you a few hours to get to the launch pad, a couple more to get set up, a day's weather delay, detox and travel at the other end, and more expensive to boot?

How can methane be extracted on mars without cow poo.
@WanderAbroad-pq5phКүн бұрын
Considering methane is found in comets we have to ask how it got there without cows.
@robertwade127323 сағат бұрын
You need to take a chemestry class.. To produce methane on Mars, Martian water is electrolyzed to generate hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen and carbon dioxide from the Martian atmosphere are then reacted to produce methane and water. This process is known as the Sabatier process and is used on the International Space Station to produce breathable oxygen from water
