Great video as always, Lindsey. Clearly explained. I'm going to tye some of these for Grafham. Just a question: why use white thread and colour it black at the finish? Could just use black thread throughout? Jim

Jim, it makes a difference to the shade of the body. Try tying up two one with black thread and one with white you will see the difference 👍

@@lindsayiflyfish thanks Lindsay. Makes sense, and I'll try your tip to see the difference 🎣

Hello from NJ, USA. Great little pattern there, that thing will catch fish just about everywhere. Very buggy and suggestive imitation of a nymph. I think your method of attaching the breathers can be adapted to create spinner wings and posts as well. Thanks for showing me something new and different. Cheers

@@lindsayiflyfish It’s typically good along the NE coast any given time. The trout streams have already warmed up and I’m leaving them alone. Bass and panfish are in full swing now for summer and saltwater for summer flounder is getting going. Hopefully you’re getting out and tightening a line also. Enjoy!

A totally natural nymph. In smaller sizes also useful on rivers and streams

I am curious....you seem to use the white Vevus gel thread almost exclusively....is that because it is so strong and almost never breaks (which I admit, I find a real pain) or is it because it is so much smaller? I have not used it to date but might consider trying it? Will it cut thru delicate materials if you apply too much pressure? What size(s) would you recommend and for which applications? Nice fly, btw!
@lindsayiflyfish4 жыл бұрын
Yes I do use it a lot it takes colour from a sharpie and it splits which I like for making small dubbing loops. The downside is that it can cut through delicate materials such as foam but you get used to the pressure you can apply. I like the 50d the best.

Hi Lindsay another great fly I love these when fishing nymphs, I cracked up at your 2 eighths i.e. quarter of an inch, if I was you I’d stick to metric mate, being an auld git I still use Imperial so knew what you we’re going on about. Keep them coming mate your great entertainment, would love to meet you on the water some day.

The breathers both give life to the thorax, and can trap some fine air bubbles really adds to the effectiveness of the fly.

It helps keep it high in the water column as well.
