Be careful who you take marriage advise from, some people have agendas but most are just clueless, esp when we go to friends, they have the same level of wisdom as you do being the same age- look for people who have interest in keeping your marriage alive

With all due respect, the polygyny rule still applies today. The Qur'an is very clear that a man is allowed to marry up to 4 wives if he is financially and physically capable. If you are a true Muslim, then you must believe that the Qur'an is the word of Allah and it is the last message to mankind before the Day of Judgement.

There are actually multiple viewpoints on this. There is a clear condition set in the Quran in the preceding line. I personally think it MAY not be applicable today as the condition set regarding orphans is not applicable. I am not condemning marriage to multiple wives. It happens to be something that is not applicable to me regardless. I just think that the debate as to the existing conditions is a definite point of interest. Also, whilst permitting polygyny under specific circumstances, the Quran also states that monogamy is always preferable and that a man will never be able to treat multiple wives justly.

@TheXs.Official I agree that monogamy is preferable. However, we must say that polygyny is allowed if a man is financially and physically capable. All the 4 madhabs agree that polygyny is allowed but I believe Hanbali and Shafi say that monogamy is preferable. The issue you are referring to is the Qur'anic verse on polygyny, while it is true that it is talking about orphans, the general principle of a man having multiple wives is permissible according to the hadith of the Prophet SAW where men had multiple wives even if they weren't orphans during wartime and peacetime and he allowed it. Many of the Sahaba also practiced polygyny like this also. So the polygyny verse is not specified to orphans as the general principle of polygynous marriages still applies. The verse you cited where Allah says you will never be able to be completely fair to all your wives is true; however, the other part of the verse Allah says that if you don't leave the other hanging (meaning you attend to thw other wives to the best of your ability) He will forgive you. As such, polygyny is halal and we should not be making something that Allah has made permissible impermissible. I agree with you that monogamy is preferable according to the Qur'an and Sunnah and for a multitude of reasons but cannot make something that is allowed in Islam unallowed simply because the "times have changed." The Qur'an is the legislation for all of mankind till the end of times. Surah Maidah (5:3) "This day have I perfected for you your religion and completed My favor on you."

My dear brother, I do not deny the Quran and Sunnah. There are, however, rulings in the Quran and Sunnah which were brought for specific situations at that time, and are not applicable in all settings today. Context is crucial. I am not of the viewpoint that the “times have changed” and so something that was decreed halal is now haram. Not at all. If it was decreed halal, it will always be halal. I do believe that if there is context, this should always be considered. I have never declared polygyny haram. I have only ever put emphasis on then conditions which make it permissible. There is clear emphasis on Allah SWT preferring monogamy, yet we run towards polygyny despite being told that we will never be just. Such is the nature of man. This is most definitely a point of reflection. Although halal, it reminds of a something I read which stated that the Muslim today asks if something is mukrooh so that he can practise it, whereas the Muslim before asks what is mukrooh so that he can avoid it. Subhanallah. I know this one is not mukrooh, but the sentiment remains. In shaa Allah, we will speak about it in a video and we can discuss some more. @TheXs.Official Thank you for your clarification. I must have misunderstood you. With regards to polygyny, I believe that among the things that Islam considers permissible (ok if you do ok/if you don't) polygyny is on the verge of being makrooh. 2 of the madhabs said that polygyny is on the lowest level of permissibility in Islam. In reality, we must understand that men getting multiple wives is completely optional if they meet the requirements, never is it encouraged and I don't like it when people encourage it. Muslims must realize however that polygyny is HARAM if a man is NOT financially or physically capable. Too many men go into these relationships thinking they are when they actually aren't and they end up ruining families, and it makes people see Islam in a bad light when it shouldn't. Polygyny should be reserved to the men who meet the requirements and actually have the level of taqwa to be faithful to all their wives.

It was just a creative change. We tend to change the title and thumbnails from time to time as insights are providing constant data on audience response. We also didn’t want a certain someone’s face on the thumbnail after recent events. 😒 Really appreciate the feedback, though. Titles and thumbnails are so tricky! 😩😅
