Agreed, I found it really fun to just throw on some music and go around Niflheim over and over again and rack up the upgrade mats. Felt very satisfying to get all those chests and realm tears opened up! Not sure how entertaining it would be to watch someone else do it though since it does get quite repetitive. Ironically though it's hardest at the very beginning. Once you start getting the Nilfheim armor and a bunch of cursed mist enchanments, the poison doesn't really become a factor anymore, but the first couple runs are kind of brutal as Mati saw in this episode lol

Agree but fighting the Niflheim Valkyrie is a bit hard - trying to stay alive but also defeat them fast before the Niflheim mist kills Kratos, a bit tough. Not as tough as Muspelheim Valkyrie or the queen though.

PRO TIP >> Nifelheim >> If you had a drone that could hover above the map, you would see that Ivaldi's Workshop is shaped like a baseball diamond. Upon entry, Homeplate is where you will always fight the first set of enemies. The dugoout is where Sindri is. The pitchers mound is the elevated ground (right in the middle) where the 3 Realm Tears & the majority of the LOOT is found. The location of all the bases will always remain the same, but the walls & booby-traps that form the base paths will change every time you re-enter the Workshop. You will always have to fight a boss & multiple enemies whenever you reach a base (or when you enter left field / or right field), But the halfway point between each base is always "safe" & there are no enemies there. If you know how to play baseball & run the bases, you will NEVER get lost and you will always know the quickest route to get back to Sindri. The main objective is to get back to the top of the pitcher's mound... or reach the dugout... to keep everything you acquire in Ivaldi's Workshop.

When fighting travelers, you’ve gotta use runic attacks that are quick and don’t leave you wide open. For example, with the axe, I believe the best light attacks against travelers would be either Hel’s touch or leviathan’s wake, while heavy it would either be ivaldi’s anvil or river of knives.

The stun and glory kill technique you learn in the previous arena is the best way to kill the 100. Its a very effective killing method for when you start getting overwhelmed by enemy numbers, especially the cut scene invincibility you get.

A little bit of context for the beginning coversation: in north mythology Frigg and Freya are two different woman. Frigg is the wife of Odin and mother of Baldur, and Freya is the goddess of beauty and love and also a vanir. But in literature and Interpretations of the mythology they where often misunderstood as one and the same. It was and is a common mistake. But with this conversation between Atreus and Mimir, Sant Monica Studios acknowledge and twist the mythology in a very fun way. Yes, in their game Freya and Frigg are the same person. Or, if you believe Odins lies, they are two different people.

There are definitely different opinions on that. "Freya" and "Frigg" are both more titles than names. They mean "Lady" and "Love" (or lover or beloved), more or less. Their characteristics are fairly similar, with both being described sleeping around quite often. A common trope in Norse mythological stories is somebody meeting a stranger who then tells them stories about the gods, only for that person in the end to be revealed to be Odin in disguise traveling the mortal world. Freya is described to have also searched Midgard for her husband "Od" who liked to wander Midgard. It's very common in stories for one character to be called by multiple names or titles, and for the names to shift over time. I'm by no means an expert, but the people who are don't even agree on whether they are or aren't the same character, so it's misleading at best to label it a "common mistake" and "misunderstanding" to conflate the two different names.

Gonna be sad to see this playthrough end! Also in regards to Niflheim being a grind, it's not too bad if you go all the way through it. You get more mist echoes for each "room" you go through, so the way you did it by just farming that first room would take a very long time because you were only getting like 150 echoes per chest. If you go much deeper you'll eventually be getting thousands and thousands of echoes per area, which makes it not nearly as much of a grind to get all those chests and realm tears in the middle opened up! Also you pick up enchaments along the way that help with the timer. You picked one or two up in this episode but I'm not sure if you looked at them to see what they were. They usually have "blight" in the title, like Perfect Crest of the Blight or Enchanted Sigil of the Blight, etc. They help a lot with managing the poison timer!

Ignore if you want to learn as you go! You collect the mist when entering anywhere without the curse (sindri + the chest room). You unlock the chests there by gaining more mist echos, and the tears with echos and a special item called anchor of fog. Every time you leave the mist, the maze resets and shuffles, so the enemies, traps, chest types and chest locations will change every time. The rewards you gain from the chests depend on how many chests you open during your run, so it’s recommended to open low level chests first and build up to the legendary ones. Furthermore, your chances of getting other resources like alloy etc are increased the further you go. The anchor of fog can be found (as far as I’m aware) 100% in the legendary chest found in the furthest right chamber of the maze. Every time you open a tear you’ll need to get a new anchor. The maze is laid out like a diamond, with 4 main chambers, 4 transition chambers, 10 traps and 2 challenge chambers. The main chambers are your standard mob of enemies and chests, the transition chambers are clear but have a chance for chests, the 2 challenge chambers have difficult enemies (the right chamber has a mini boss and rewards you with the anchor, and the left chamber… you’ll have to discover that yourself). Between every chamber, main, transition or challenge, are traps. There are only about 5 different trap types in the maze so you will learn them quickly, and they are likely to have chests hidden amongst them. You can find at most 2 nornir chests in the maze, one will be in the first main chamber (where you place the entry stone) and will not be unlockable until you return after a run, as you need to memorise the 3 runes and find them throughout the maze. The runes will always be the ones you have to spin with the axe, and will always be above the walls of the maze, in the same places. The second chest can be found in either of the transition rooms that lead to the challenge chambers. This chest must be opened with bells located in the same room. Sometimes seeing the bells is hard, but they give you plenty of time to hit them all. Finally, you can spend more time in the maze with dedicated armour, pommels, enchantments and talismans, so you may want to start making yourself a specific Niflheim build. Niflheim is hard! You can find a map of the room layout online, and if you ever truly needed to (although you would never) you can always drop the difficulty for this place, lower difficulties will not effect drop rates or rewards, so you can turn it right back up to hard afterwards. A few tips: When you do Axe runic abilities where you throw the axe, you can switch to your blades quickly while the axe is still flying around Also you can switch between the blades and axe mid-combo. So like light attack with blade, switch quickly to axe, then heavy attack etc Further a rule i always used, if it’s a lot of enemies that swarm you like those exploding ones, I would use the blades and move my camera in a circle motion to hit all the enemies all around me But other than that I’d say I’m glad to see how far you advanced in combat!!!

Also its very grindy to fully complete it but its worth doing a bit of it for armors, upgrades and there is also a NPC to meet in the maze. Muspelheim is more at your level at the moment so you should complete it 1st.

When you buy new armor, it always looks trash compared to what you have because you have the enchantments attached to the current one boosting it's stats. definitely compare once you have the extra enchantments on it. They make a huge difference.

It took me a while to figure out Nifelheim. Had to google so much of it. I think it’s the one level/realm the game doesn’t do a good job of explaining. However, it does help you learn more about the game and how important it is to equip yourself with the proper armor, enhancements, etc. Not sure what you think, but I think it’s a little more fun to watch you fight the Valkyries + go through Muspelheim.
