Love the idea of a brightly colored storage bag - the black interiors are difficult to use !

New subscriber here. This is your sweet spot!!! You did a fantastic job of showing the products and how to use them. This would be a fantastic series. “Tech Me Out” does a Monthly Fav’s series. Do your own. Travel, personal safety, prepping and adventure. Put your spin on it and keep them coming back to see what you feature next.

I have that Anker power bank. That is the largest size allowed to take on a plane (26.8K mah [milli amp hours]). They do smaller and lighter power banks, that have less power to recharge devices. But they are meant to mostly get you through the day, topping up the battery as it were, rather than charging a phone fully from dead to 100%. Lighter might be better for carrying all day in your bag, but necessary, so you don't run out of power while checking maps, transit schedules, etc

Yes, I should have mentioned that this is not a "light" device, though I put up with a bit more weight since I want to extra insurance of having a power reserve. I will a smaller one for shorter trips for sure. Thanks!

@@AlexTravelsSolo It's also good for home emergency use. If your electricity goes out in a storm, you can make sure you can continue to use your phone for alerts, call for help, etc. (presuming your cell service doesn't also go down ...). Or to keep yourself entertained, until the power does come back.

@@AlexTravelsSolo Yes - I have a large power bank that is heavy and costs about $40.00 , At Marshalls I found one that has about half the power for $10.00 . Very small and light . Two of these for $20.00 are much better and weigh less than the large one. With that said I take one one a day trip and two on a longer trip which avoids dragging along a heavier one for a day. Also, be sure to keep them charged up in case you loose power at home.

You don't usually see that Garmin recommended for travel, usually you see that for back country backpackers, in case you need medical help out in the wilderness. Be aware that you really need the insurance that the subscription apparently comes with - one hiker I follow on KZbin needed to get helicoptered out from a remote area for medical reasons, and she got a $50K US bill for the flight service ....

Indeed, thanks for your comment. Friends, please read the fine print... hence why I mentioned this is your last line of defense for SOS purposes and not a everyday form of communication. But ultimately a great device/service if your life depends on it. Buy the insurance just like you would buy travel insurance... a medical evacuation is NOT free.

Flashlight on phone doesn’t seem so strong after u use this flashlight
@AlexTravelsSolo5 ай бұрын
Exactly! I also think the flashlight battery lasts much longer than the phone, if you were to have the light on.
