Been watching you guys for a couple of years now. Love Brian’s projects and being an ex construction guy, I can say you two are some of the most resourceful people around. I kept wondering when you would get something other than the Kioti tractor for the winters in the mountains. You are now fixed up. I don’t live in the mountains but have had a couple of side by sides over the years. I bought a new Kioti K9 Cab last February ( serial #42) and use it practically every day. Full cab with Heat and air of course. We live on 50 acres of woods and are beekeepers too. You guys will soon wonder how you were ever able to do without one.

Thanks so much. Well everything takes time and $$ doesn't it? haha. Amy grew up with ATVs but this is our first side by side, so a bit different but still fun for older folks like us. Glad that K9 is working out well for you!! can't wait for all the "excuses" to use it!

I have the same rig with lots of plow use on it. For the small jobs you're planning on you don't need chains those stock tires are super knobby and they plow and push harder than you want to stress the clutch/belt/transmission, I even spread out a gravel pile with no issues taking small bites. I did notice getting high centered in snow from time to time, put a Perflex 2" lift (with 1" wheel spacers) and went to similar 29" knobby tires (QuadBoss QBT454 6 ply radials), then of course with the bigger tires getting the TeamMSC Stage3 clutch kit because you sort of have to, and their tune. I put six 60 lb sandbags in the dump box when plowing. Those are half doors too by the way for summer... I'm in WY so similar to CO so my next tires will be 30" and slightly more rock style to avoid rock puncture. I found your video because I was trying to find tuning for high altitude, most everybody tuning these are down low.
@ColoradoMountainLiving5 ай бұрын
Awesome - thanks for the info!! So far no tuning problems and we're at 9300 ft
@robfred27135 ай бұрын
@@ColoradoMountainLiving the tuning is fine stock the way it is, all that the new tune programming does is give you a slight boost and horsepower and torque, for $400. And supposedly it will take away that neck jerk on the start in low gear which the U1000s are known for.

If the winch doesn't have a limit switch to prevent it from trying to raise the blade above its limits it would be a good idea to add one. A diesel heater would be a great addition.
@ColoradoMountainLiving10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion about a limit switch. Will double check.

I just installed the flip up windshield on mine. I had the flat windshield, but it just did not let air flow. In Florida, the more open, the better. Would like some half doors.

Make sure you have an extra rope for your winch. We had a unit similar to this and the up and down of plowing wore out a lot of ropes on the winch

We have a similar setup but KFI plow. SuperAtv windshield and poly back window. May change to a glass windshield with wiper down the road. 2024. I bought a 12 volt heater that defrosts the windshield and gives some heat but also purchased a propane golf cart heater. Mr. Buddy.
