Hi, nice video. pretty helpful. I think you should do a video on how to carry your tools. what type of bags people like. how to integrate it into your safety harness. you did a nice job. thanks a lot!

Hello union brothers. That is exactly tools that we need out there in the field. You need to carry most of that tools when you jump on the walls. Building, striping, or wherever you'll do, you'll need your tools close and ready to put it work. That's way I highly recommended to use in our trade, as a union carpenter, a really set of tools bags especially designed for us: REX TOOL BAGS!! Every f..king detail in those bags are funcional. Really..... just take a look. You'll see!!

I’m 21 and I’ve been in the bricklayers union local 4 out in Arcadia for about a year and a half now I want to try out the carpenters union due to the fact that benefits and local 909 is by far stronger than our union I’m thinking about the long run retirement wise rather do it now than regretting not doing it few years down the road

EK Benny hey brother...I hear u on the part of wanting to do the change sooner then later. I have no regrets besides not joining sooner as a union carpenter. There are so many reasons that make it worth it.. pension, Benifits Nd pay is great, not to mention our July and dec vacation checks we get...... union support is here we all look out for each other....the support is always available whether it b from the hall or on the job u will find the help if u look for it... I hope u find ur way over....I know joining the carpenters union was the best decision I did for my career .

@@ekbenny3939 no worries brother I'm honestly not to familiar with the whole changing over process but I do believe that you are transferable I would call your local carpenters hall and explain your situation Im sure they can give you the exact directions and procedures to take. being that your 21, you are still young and if I were in your shoes I would definitely make the jump (but that's just my opinion)...

What do you recommend. Commercial framing? Or concrete structural carpentry? Just curious. Is one harder than the other? I would think commercial framing would be a “more useful skill” ? Any input would be appreciated as I am about to go down to apply at the union

I was with Local # 2361 Carpenter's in Orange, Calif. I was a Commercial Metal Stud Framer/Drywall Installer for 35 yrs. This is a good gig because you have a 3 yr. Apprentice Program, so there's plenty of training in Framing and Drywall. Plan on both interior work as well as exterior work. Lots of work on each job Framing everything and then Hanging the Drywall. Your screwgun will become a well used tool. Enjoy

Hit the hall up,ask for a job list, letter of intent to hire, hit the jobs up like your life depends on it, have your bags and all ready to work. It also helps if you know someone inside. Hope that helps alittle

PaintThinnerGang hey there brother being that u have experience on job sites nd understand the terminology of the construction world my advice to u on getting and finding work as a carpenter is to at least have, as a first period apprentice ur basic hammer catspaw speed square pliers and dikes long with a tool belt to carry those....never lose ur hopes if ur turned down of a job....be persistent and always a arrive at least 30mins before start time a Good look on ur half is to be the first on the job if start time is average 6-630 I would be there at 530 wait for that first truck to pull in and introduce urself....ur willing and ready to work nd willing to learn what it takes...us carpenters are strong and this career is and will continue to be a investment to our lives and our family’s I hope u find a job brother there is plenty of work coming up if not now the year to come I’m out of San Diego local 619 nd there is a lot of work not sure of the 909 but l.a. shud have lots of work...do not get discouraged pls stick with it and someone will give u an opportunity u never know wen a brother falls off track Nd leaves u an opening a chance to get u going....keeping grinding Nd always find a way to improve ur ways

@@silvagfamily9544 No bro I haven't, I went to a couple jobs and sent my resume to all the contractors on my locals job list but haven't heard back except for one. I was told they would contact me when an opening opens up. I haven't really traveled to work. I've worked from my home a couple times but it's always been as a group with other workers and have had everything paid for by my current boss.
