I come a trades family (my taught us painting) I'm old school As far as the calling you (it is really fear of you getting better than they are, some folks are just like this) A good example you may use being a black man is Tuskegee University Those brothers built that whole University themselves as well as other HBCUs That is our legacy of the trades ( By visiting the University, you could draw strength and show your children,look what your ancestors did under Jim Crow conditions) it's right your country You must know your history this way you can draw strength I'm so proud of you and what you trying to accomplish ie Take a look Thomas Day furniture maker, Horace King the bridge builder , that's your history my man👍👍

I was with you till the part about the work boots. I recommend buying some good redwings or Thorogoods. There is nothing worse in my book than working with wet feet. After about 3 or 4 hours your feet will hurt like hell. The best investment in my opinion as far as work clothes is good dry boots. I also use thick carhartt waterproof bibs during the winter that cost around $200 and am able to stay dry and warm. I frame concrete forms and am out in the weather more days than not tho so this is just my opinion on work clothes. Good video tho and thanks for helping the new guys especially with the safety 👍

Working in Oregon it rains so much. It almost doesn't matter what you wear as far as boots. But I totally agree. Good boots are a great investment. I buy the insoles also. I've never really had good luck with the rain gear. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it.

Safety is super important. And it gets over looked all the time for production. But people don't realize. It doesn't matter how bad ass you are if you get hurt. I seen it so many times.

I just got into my union carpenters apprenticeship. We're required to have a ton of tools right away. Luckily I can barrow some money, because it's a lot of tools

I'm not sure about what state your in. But some states have programs to help you get tools. Like the odot program. I had all my basic tools provided for me.

@Unscripted with Antonio and for a vehicle what do you recommend for a formwork carpenter to buy looking to make my first purchase in to 3-4 month?
@unscriptedwithantonio
@unscriptedwithantonio Жыл бұрын
@CGeorges3 when I first started, I had a Subaru legacy. Super dependable in all weather conditions. But as I massed more tools, I bought a truck. I currently drive a Toyota tundra(it's a gas guzzler). I would just focus on dependable. You never want to miss work because of your vehicle.

hey man was just wondering few questions , when you get hired in the union do you go straight to work or to the training fund , do you get paid to go and how many days ?
@unscriptedwithantonio
@unscriptedwithantonio 2 жыл бұрын
When you first getting started it straight to work. Alot of guys don't going to training for like 6 to 8 months. You go to class 1 week every 3 months. You don't get paid for attending class. But you can file for unemployment. Other then that your making money the whole time your learning. You also get a pay raise once every 6 months. Usually around $2 to $3. So the money is good.
