Ohhh no no no. The whole purpose of wearing a money belt is to keep it on your body AT ALL TIMES, including on the aircraft. If you remove it and stick it in the seatback pocket in front of you, you're risking forgetting it at the end of your flight, as well as having someone reaching over and stealing it while you're sleeping. The rest of your suggestions are great but this one is a HUGE no-no. If it's uncomfortable to wear it because it presses into you, loosen the belt and push it up a little higher above where the seat belt sits. Or go into the bathroom and loose the strap enough so that you can wear it crossbody style under your T-shirt. But whatever you do, DO NOT remove your money belt! Dude, seriously.

Visine is a vaso-constrictor (constricts vessels). It makes your eye look better, but actually isn't good for them. Eyes get red when irritated, because the blood vessels are working hard to remove the irritation. You're better off using a lubricating drop to add moisture, without constricting the vessels.

Bad medical advice is bad. There is no reputable study of the efficacy of Asprin in managing or preventing Deep Vein Thrombosis in travellers on long haul flights. Talk to your trained medical practioner, it's unlikely to be harmful unless there's some sort of contra-indication to usage. Aspirin is adjacent to the other NSAID class medications, like Ibuprofen, Naproxen and will absolutely do a number on your gastro-intestinal tract; all of this class are very effective at ruining your stomach and should normally be prescribed with a proton pump inhibitor. If you have a long flight ahead, I would suggest compressions socks, sit in the aisle so you can stretch legs and talk to your doctor before taking medication based on old wives tales. @thetravelcoaches ☝

I've been with too many people who left their stuff in the seat pocket. One girl had to leave our trip, pay for a flight to an American Embassy location to get a new passport, which she left in the seatback pocket. My brother has left, not one but, two boze headphones in the seat back pocket. Don't use that pocket for anything you don't want to lose!

I would add Imodium and Benadryl (or generic equivalents of each) to your medicine pack. Vomiting is bad enough, but you really don't want to be running to the toilet every 5 minutes, especially when there is likely to be a line. Also, you may not know of any allergies, but that doesn't mean you don't have any. Having something to help you if you need it can be a life saver, sometimes quite literally.

Regardless of whether you are riding in economy or 1st class, aircraft air is exceedingly dry and can wreak havoc with your sinuses, especially on longer flights. To provide a comfortable travel experience, I use "Ayr Saline Nasal Gel." Just before I board, I visit the bathroom, squeeze a bit on a Qtip, and gently swab both sinuses. On long international flights, you can easily reapply more if you feel the need. Ayr gel has been a God send for me, and I highly recommend it!!

May I strongly suggest not putting your valuables (money belt) in the front pocket. This is super niche, but most accidents are during take-off and landing (and most people survive), and if you have to evacuate it will make a huge difference if you have your passport, cards, phone on your person. Also, anything in the front pocket can be forgotten, stolen or get dirty. But the rest are great tips.

I have claustrophobia, so being in a cramped space, heightens this phobia. Side note, my phobia was first created after sitting in an economy seat next to a person who spilled over into my space. Since then, I will never fly economy internationally. Claustrophobia will not be cured by those pills, it took a lot of self talk as well as the flight attendants assisting me to calm me down. I am blessed that I have not had experienced a panic attack since flying premium.

I have a disability and I cannot make it thru the flight to Italy without being in a lot of pain. So I ordered some cushions and a foot rest to try. If you have a medical condition you can bring a note from your doctor and have them in a separate bag so it will not interfere with luggage as they are bulky. ALSO I worked in ophthalmology for over 20 years. Do NOT use VISINE. USE Systane ARTIFICIAL TEARS. Visine has a drying agent, so you have to use it more. Just an FYI

*****Having some meds for things like upset stomach and headaches can be a game changer, but I use travel sized manufacturer containers. If you have loose pills without the container and they are discovered by TSA - or customs on an international flight - depending on the officer, you may be delayed while they check into the fact that they are what you say they are. Also, a reminder that prescription meds must be in the container that has the prescription on it. To not do so is a crime in some areas of the world, including much of the U.S.

Yes to all your suggestions (although the collapsible water bottle was a messy fail for me). The worst part of flying economy is the PAIN from being cramped. I take ibuprofen before every flight, do seat exercises, try to walk the aisles as much as possible, etc. with minimal relief. I truly feel for larger people (I'm 5'2" & 100 lbs) and wonder how they stand it! The airlines are shameless in their pursuit of profit over basic passenger comfort! P.S. I would never put my valuables in the seat pocket due to questionable bacteria plus theft risk. I wear a (no velcro) neck wallet tucked under my shirt/sweater and it is so comfortable that it stays on the whole flight.

I always check a bag because I don't want to take my suitcase through the airport, and I don't like the overhead bin. Then I take a canvas zip top large tote bag, with FOUR, yes you read it right, outside compartments for water bottle (which I fill at the airport), coffee thermos (fill at the airport), a small spray bottle with water and maybe some scented oil that I can spray on my face when I feel hot, and whatever else in the last one. It's soft so I can stuff it with snacks, sweater, headphones, scarf, glasses, etc and put it under the seat in front of me. My valuables are either in a small purse inside this bag, or maybe in a fanny pack that I can wear as a cross body bag. Then when I arrive at my destination I can use this carryon tote when I go shopping, or doing day or overnight trips.

About the money bag - I would never put it in the seat pocket, but having one on you for the plane is a great idea. If you need to evacuate the plane in an emergency, your most important items are already on you (literally!) and you won't be tempted to grab bags or extra things. It's also helpful if you need to go to the bathroom, you don't have to worry about nosy neighbors going through your bag.

Flight complaints: #1 legroom, #2 using the lav is just awkward on a plane. Plusses: crossbody bag is great for keeping essentials convenient and for comfort. As for moneybelt, I like the pouch style that has belt loops and then just flips under your pants. No strap around you. Instead of collapsible bottles I prefer an insulated mug so my drink stays hot/cold a long time. A space sacrifice that's often worth it. You have good tips/hacks. Thanks!

Here in Europe some cheap airlines (Ryanair for example) have seats with no pockets at all - less for them to clean, helps with turnaround time and I guess it also encourages people to take fewer items with them in the cabin. I try to avoid flying with Ryanair if I can but if I really have to, I have one very light yet durable textile bag that holds whatever I may need while I'm in my seat (always a window seat so I can lean against the wall and not be disturbed by the other 2 fellow passengers) and I hook it from the seat in front using a carabine. I can easily access all the stuff I may need (water bottle, sandwiches, hand sanitiser, paper tissues, eye mask, earplugs , headphones, battery pack etc.) without asking the other 2 passengers to stand up so I can go looking for them in the overhead compartment, I'm not limited by the lack of a seat pocket, even if there is a seat pocket - I don't havr to put my stuff in that filthy place and finally there is no way I could possibly forget the hanging bag when I get out.

Be mindful, when traveling internationally, about just putting over-the-counter medicine in a little pill case. Countries have different laws about what drugs are legal to bring in -- for example, Japan doesn't allow some decongestants you can get OTC in the U.S. Also, if any of them are prescription, it's very important to either keep it in the original prescription bottle with the label on it, or carry the prescription with you (if you don't want to carry a bunch of pill bottles, you could carefully remove the prescription label and stick it on a small ziploc bag, but if so, carry the prescription from the doctor). Even if it's just a minor thing, customs agents in your arriving country can use it as an excuse to pull you aside into an interview room and start going through everything, including your social media accounts on your phone (and trust me, this happens to foreigners coming into the U.S. as well as Americans going overseas).

agreed. my children are now teens, but I pack 3 ziplock bags of snacks - 1 for on the plane there, there, and on the plane home. Food they will eat if flight is delayed on of off the tarmac, or luggage is delayed, or they didn't like what was served to them. A distraction and pre-emptive hangriness solution.

Carry a resealable silicone sac to hold that money belt in before you put it in the back pocket to keep it clean. Permanently tape a ribbon to that sac and hang it over the edge of the seat pocket to remind you it's there.

I tried one of those collapsible water bottles, they're horrible. Yes, the fold up easily, But once you fill them up, they won't stand up on their own so they take up so much more table space by lying flat, you can't slip them into a side pocket of a bag while you have water still in them, etc. I literally threw mine away in the airport as useless ...

@@jaimetarne9436 There are different collapsible ones. The one shown , which is recommended, will not standup. I take these with me on the flight: 1 - Therm-a-Rest lumbar travel pillow, I don't always need to use it but some seats don't have much lower back support. It's compact after all the air are out. 2 - Listerine pocketpaks fresh breath strips instead of brushing my teeth inflight, don't want to use their water to rinse. 3 - Neutrogena makeup remover wipes, I don't have makeup to remove but the wipe cleans my face without drying and it's individually wrapped, doesn't take up any room.

The absolute worst part of flying economy s the ever shrinking legroom. I am 6'2" with very, very long legs. Currently the only airline I can fly is JetBlue. Flying any US carrier is my biggest no go for flying. Last time I flew American cross Atlantic, the seats were so worn out, I was sore for 5 days after. NEVER EVER PUT Valuables in the seat pocket, keep them on you. They can disappear if you forget them. If you are changing planes, you can be screwed if you leave your valuables in the seat pocket. The inflatable tube pillows that you lean over and put your face in , let me get 6-7 hours of sleep on long haul flights. Many European and Asian airports don't make you take out liquids any more. At Singapore, Bangkok and Stockholm they didn't make me take out my laptop.

Whether it's a 3 hour flight or a 16 hour flight, besides my over-ear NC headphones, I pack my flight essentials [cell phone, nasal spray, medications, lens case (with solution in it), eyeglasses, gum, tissues, Shout wipes, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, face mask, eye mask, small hairbrush, etc.] into a sports fanny pack that I'll wear if airline is not strict, or put into my personal item if they are. Once at my seat, I strap it around the back of my tray table. It doesn't interfere with the operation of the tray table, everything is safely within reach and not falling onto floor, and there's no need to use the filthy, yucky seat pocket except for trash. And it won't be inadvertently left in the seat pocket as could happen with what you do with your money belt. BTW, on that topic... A money belt is supposed to be worn tucked into the waistband of your pants, not just sitting under your shirt and on top of your pants where it is still plainly visible and can easily be stolen.

Careful about putting your money belt in the seat pocket. First of all, that seat pocket is filthy. Ever seen it being sanitized? Think about what people put there. I put the items I want to have handy in a silicone bag and then placing it in the seat pocket. Easy to wipe off! Also, if you don’t know your seat mate, that money belt could be tempting. I hate to say that, but I actually found someone in my purse when I woke up during a long haul flight. I really enjoyed your tips! I already have the Airfly in my cart!

Trust me - first class is a joke anymore. You still pay a premium for pretty much NOTHING. The seat back on the last flight had me in tears after the first hour of a six hour flight. I asked the FA for a pillow and he told me pillows were only for international flights. The food was completely inedible and they gave me the wrong meal. (No, I had not complained about anything - as a matter of fact, I gave all the FA's a nice lambskin bag with tip money and quarters for laundry, which I will never do again.) The seats did not have a footrest and I think that added to my legs losing circulation and my back killing me. It was like sitting on a park bench. Oh, and the "first class" bathroom. Everyone from the back kept using it and it was filthy and disgusting. On a flight years ago in economy I couldn't get into the bathroom and asked the FA if I could use the first class one (I was well dressed), and she said NO it was only for "first class." So, at least on American Airlines, don't waste your money. The ONLY "benefit" we got was we got onboard first. Whoo hoo.

Smelly people. I sat next to a guy who didn't believe in bathing and the smell was atrocious. I asked the flight attendant to please please change my seat and she came over and said believe me I totally understand you but I have no seats available. The guy totally understood what we were saying and I told him straight out he had some pair of balls getting on the plane smelling like that and he just looked at me and said it was his religion to not bathe. The lady in the isle seat on the other side of him threw up all over the floor and her lap which just added to the smell of B O. Worst flight ever. I mean I get it if that's their religion and beliefs then maybe put on a fresh thin rain poncho to contain it. I don't really know I had never heard of that before but now I know. I even offered to pay extra for biz class but that was not to be so I stood in the back of the plane most of the time talking to the flight attendants. They were both very nice and told me I could hang out back there with them.

You need a better way of putting on those compression socks! Put your hand in the sock with your thumb in the heel and your fingers in the toe. Fold the top part down (inside out) until it's about at your wrist. THEN put the foot of the sock on your foot and pull up the rest of the sock. It keeps it from stretching out and it saves you from all that tugging and pulling!
