How’s the Bimini top working for you’re the passenger fisherman? If your fishing on the front deck it’s fine but in the back aren’t the Bimini aluminum rods constantly in your way of casting a rod?
@fishingistherapy2 жыл бұрын
Overall it works very well. My passengers have enjoyed it especially on those hot day's. So far no fading, and the quick release tabs make taking it on and off easy, but I just keep it on. The rods are in the way when underneath it, but I stand on my casting platform in the back to avoid the rods . Small price to pay for the comfort it provides.

If you are looking for a jon boat, it's hard to beat a weldbilt or allweld boat. If you will be hitting rockns and etc, I love to have a weldbilt vs a riveted which is a nightmare once it starts leaking, which it will eventually leak. For stability I wouldn't go with less than a 1442 if you are walking around or plan to have other passengers.

I gotta tell you! You need a chain on top of your boat anchor so it will lay down to grab, found this out last year, I use a 5lb grappling anchor. On a 16ft modded v, holds me in good current! Make sure to attach to the bottom of the anhor vs top so you can use a cheap zip tie to hold onto the top hole on the anchor(ment to snap off when stuck), 4ft of chain really helps!
@fishingistherapy2 жыл бұрын
That's great insight will definitely implement that tip. Your right about that. Appreciate you sharing!
@briangullickson90132 жыл бұрын
I’ll second the chain just above the anchor and add a tip.. mark the rope about 5 feet from the chain by painting, tying a small loop or knot so you’ll know when the chain is almost at water level during retrieval. It’ll help prevent you from rubbing your chain or anchor into the side of boat. @fishingistherapy

Just ran across your channel, your John boat is awesome, u did a good job on upgrades. I'm a kayak angler for 7 yrs now but considering getting a John boat so when friends family visit I can take them out fishing for we can take it & my pedal drive yaks. Is that biggest motor you can put on a 14' flat bottom? Or is that all u could really need? What's top 3 upgrades you feel couldn't go without after having them?
@fishingistherapy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Max. You can put up to a 50 if I'm not mistaken. Most people go is usually a 40. But 20hp is fine for me. I don't get in to much of a rush. By myself I get 28-29 with a 10 pitch prop. With 3 people I have seen 21mph and 4 people around 13-14 based on weight distribution. But all in all the 29 is plenty, but if i ever upgraded woukd do a 30 but i dont think its necessary, I get around very well. Top 3 would have to be spot lock trolling motor, fish finder and the millennium boat seats. If I add 2 more it would be the no drill tackle web cup holder/storage pouches and bimini top for hot days.

@@fishingistherapy that's good to know, I'll be getting a John boat next year roughly. I will want to add some things but I most likely still use my kayak most of the time unless I have company down to visit so I would try to only want to add the nessesities at first. In never in a hurry myself so anything up to a 30hpwould b plenty for me. Thanks I appreciate it your John boat is set up awesome I personally think kayaks & John boats r way better than crazy expensive bass boats

@@maxcole3930 I totally agree with you on the kayaks and Jin boats point. But yeah you will be good with anything under a 30. Your welcome, glad you enjoy the boat content. Stay tuned!

Best seats on the market in my opinion. Warm enough is the colder months and cool in the hot months. Thanks for watching.

how well do those cup holders hold drinks in the chop? i like how they aren’t bulky
@fishingistherapy2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't purchase any other cup holder...I love them...I have my phone in them...a drink and whatever I want to toss in them. Good investment. Didn't want to drill holes.
