Hey Chris, with Keep The Heroes Out the boss battles expansion fixed everything from the base game. Lenght, difficulty, etc. SUPER good game.

What did you think of Deep Madness? I got lured in with cool the thing/lovecraftian monsters, but ultimately game turned out extremely fiddly for how little substance it actually had. Had to sell.

Lords of Ragnarok was a MASSIVE miss at my house. Glad I was able to sell it without a loss after giving it a few plays and no one wanted to play it again. Oathsworn is one of the best campaign games I have ever played. We all LOVED IT!

I did NOT back Thunder Road and was totally wrong. I have the retail version now but went all in on the reprint which should be here soon. And this game is SO DAMN FUN. It's ridiculous.

Agreed. i ate crow on this one. i found a store on facebook between campaigns that had a maximum chrome edition listed and paid by credit card over the phone for them to ship it to me!

DEEP MADNESS is still in my collection and I still love it. Before I get a new dungeon crawler I compare it to Deep Madness to see if it's worth it.

Tidal Blades 2 seems to be getting great reviews. I just purchased it from someone else who backed it. Can’t wait to crack it open and play when it gets here. Also Oathsworn earned all the excellent ratings. That game was crafted with love and care. I played all 21 chapters and will play it again. Never leaving my collection

I had become jaded on Garphill and Ezra and Nehemiah sat on my shelf for months before I gave it a go, and it ended up maybe my favorite Garphill game of all time. It has a little more interaction with the walls and area control, and tracks and player board development and all kinds of goodness

Hegemony is my #1 game of all time. Don't need to play it more than once to see just how incredible it was. This game wasn't nearly as complex as it first appeared.

Hegemony is currently at 61 on BBG. Took us 11 friggin’ hours to play the first time we played.

I love Oathsworn, Its more accessible then the two other juggernauts KDM and Aeon Trespass. Its the boss battler I recommend to people if they are dipping their toes into boss battlers.

Tidal Blades 2 is getting expansions next year. I’m reading the lore for it and that is very good. I get the actual games tomorrow (TB1/TB2 and RPG).

_Paint the Roses_ is an excellent challenge. Meanwhile _Keep the Heroes Out_ is such a fun game.

I enjoyed PTR. My group was less enamored by the amount of concentration required at all times!

I’m new to the world of board games and in any of my research, Thunder Road keeps coming up but it’s not available anywhere. Is it just a case of waiting for another printing of it? Or is it just gone forever?

I got the Deep Madness reprint, and I'm rather disappointed at the medium to low quality components, including very thin cards and average minis.

Lords of Ragnarok low rating is because people watch on bad review and start to sell it in panic. I have conversation for same thing with friend last night. Ornithologist who don't like Wingspan because someone tell him game is bad and with broken overpowered cards. I don't think LoR rule books is to big, it's full with images and example and this make page so many. Game give you lots of options what you can do on your turn and for someone played only Blood Rage this will look like total mess. LoR give you chance to stop other player not only by using your armies, but like take their action bonus and even stop them from using their hard earned priests by building a statues before them. For Loki kill, you can do it and it's possible, but don't forget that you can use Loki to block a territory or protect your army. Monster hunt give you lots of benefits and it's easy, but to kill Loki is hard and you need some luck. I don't see this like main object in area control game even if trigger end of game. Monster control is fun too and when you know how and when to use it it's big part of your strategy. To won is like in Inis, you don't rush with hard power but more strategic and trying to outplay others so when you take your win no one expect it or can't stop you. Overall LoR is gem for people who like area control games and wants something with more deep than Lang trio. Learning curve is not hard, but you need someone who play it to explain you what to do and why. Main actions are simple and if you abstract from bonus action player turn is easy. Disclaim: i'm not AR fanboy, i don't play LoH, and only other AR i have is Nemesis. Area control games i like: Rising Sun > Ankh > Blood Rage, Clash of Rage, Northgard, Tyrants of the Underdark, Small World of Warcraft, Iwari P.S. I hope this comment will help to someone who have LoR on his shelf to learn it and try it.

This is so true, ppl are like parrots that repeat whatever they hear in reviews and sometimes not even that some of them never had to play the game or had more than one or two sessions.

That's what makes it so bad for me. I don't need a game to simulate capitlist life after i lived in it all day long. When i play a game, i wanna escape from the modern world problems, not relive them in a game.

Well we already have hundreds of games that do that. But we never had a great economics game before today. If you enjoy economics and the delicate balance between classes then this game is for you. Also you don’t have to be capitalist. You can play the working class and try to move to a communist system.

Got Oathsworn but that was a mistake. Battles are fun the first few times but the poor flow of play for a game so light in mechanical depth fatigued me fast. Story was good but thats within the context of `for a board game`. Found id rather play something faster or with more strategic and tactical complexity and for the story side id rather read a book. Its so overproduced as well which annoyed the hell out of me slowing down gameplay taking up space and increasing cost and thats just with the standee version. Wish I did like it as it has some interesting ideas and love the setting and art but as a package it left me feeling unfulfilled.

Something is seriously wrong with CMON. They do a lot of little things that annoy people... but the not getting all the containers booked and REFUSING to respond to requests why.... tells you something is going on. And that something can only be one thing: Money problems. Which if they are having money problems on a campaign that did this well and ALL the follow up campaigns that have come since... then we should all be super careful. No more money to CMON. NONE.

I usually love heavy games, but Hegemony is one of my personal worst experiences ever. It feels as asymmetrical as Root, but even meaner with more rules. It feels like a sad simulation of modern capitalism. There was no fun playing this game, besides the 10 jokes that probably every group did. I will never play this game again.

That's incorrect, Hegemony has players who play it regularly. This game is just as long as other 2-3 hour games once you know the rules, which are far from being as difficult to learn due to the incredible player aids/rules.

@@dcrbdh Why would you need to play a game regularly to earn a very high rating from people? BGG has always been that way. War of the Ring, Eclipse, Twilight Imperium, none of these games are played regularly by most. That said, after playing it several times it's possible to provide a rating and opinion on a game.

I wouldn't go that far. Its just that too many of us (ME) have too many to play that much that repeatedly too. I'm a victim/casualty of that mentality too often

I like solo games, but I have two problems with 20 Strong. The first is that it isn't that clear what you do or do not need to buy. I'm sure it's obvious if you're really into the board game community, but I'm not. The second is that the theme isn't that great for me. I like themes to be legible. A good theme helps you understand the game more quickly. In Legacy of Yu, if I want to build a building, oh, it turns out I will need a worker, some bricks, and some wood. The enemy has a fort? It helps them attack more aggressively, and it takes more men to take it down. This all makes sense and that makes it easier to understand. Chip Theory games don't always do this, and the Solar whatever thing doesn't do it at all. So I haven't bought into it.

I wasnt the biggest fan either. i know why people liked it and why i could/should potentially like it but still something didn't fit with me
