I loved the theme - I've often wondered about trying to buy only the games that are still on the radar one to three years after being hyped.

I only just found out about Voidfall in the last month. But the good news is they are making an expansion next year, and bringing back everything from the last campaign, so I'll be able to get in on it.

Good luck (for your wallet's sake that is)

Ohhhh man! At 8:45, you begin to speak in such a way it’s as if you’re speaking directly to me! I used to have a game group, but no longer do. Now, I don’t get to play games as often as I’d like to, and my wife is my gaming partner. She simply will not play games that last more than 90 minutes. My kids are 8, 6, and 3. I can’t pull out most games and teach even my 8 year old. (People that claim their little kids learn euros and other difficult games are full of it!) I have so many games now that I am sitting on hoping to one day be able to play with my kids. I want them to play games because they love it, not because I am forcing them to play them. With all of these factors put together, I really slowed down on purchasing games to almost not purchasing any because I have plenty of games that I can’t play.
Ай бұрын
You mean your 6 year old can't ALREADY play Spirit Island solo multi-handed? Same though, I hear you. I've got some that i even bought/traded for as tweeners like Chronicles of Avel that I'm still undecided on as well.

I liked MOTU. For what it is, it is a good game with a lot of characters to play and lots of nostalgia.

I cannot wait for Tales 2E to arrive at my doorstep. Literally every single person I know who’s played it has great things to say about it. I played a scenario at Gencon and knew I made the right decision backing the new print Edit: at first, I didn’t even give it a glance because of the artwork. But that art style has really grown on me. It enhances its light-hearted goofy fantasy theme in the best way tbh
Ай бұрын
Agreed. Art work isn't my style at all either but it wins in gameplay

@LiegeofGames do you have other Videos from August, July in the same format as this video? a looking back to Month/Year? I enjoyed this video much
28 күн бұрын
Yes! But I was so swamped with July and August I'm not sure I did them this year. However, if you look back on the channel, they're differently titled as more like crowdfunding look backs or hype checks in the months prior to those. I've been doing these for like the last 2 years or so
@Achill210528 күн бұрын
i like them really. Pitty, that the best months July and August 2022/23 aren't in the playlist. Maybe next year^^

We play City of the Great Machine only in the co-op mode, never tried the other mode. It is one of our favorite games though, it really should be recognized more imho.

Oh man, cooperative. I forgot about that as well. No, no, no. I will not add it back to my wishlist...

Kings of Ruin was the best new game I played this year. But yeah obviously I played it for 50 hrs with another player. So ymmv.

I’m away at the moment, so can’t actually watch the video! But I noticed the mention for Legacy of Yu - which I have played five or six times this week, and which I will play again tomorrow. Because when stuck on a floating hotel with 5,000+ non-gamers, Yu ha fitted the bill nicely.

Nice!
@StratxGamingАй бұрын
I still very much want Legacy of Yu, but I'm on a budget - a pretty strict one where board games are concerned (kinda why I like watching your channel). And as much as I want it, how much will I really play it? - I think it has a one and done element to it? Will the other replayable part be as fun and keep me replaying?

War for Arrakis has a solo component. It is rather complex.

One of the problems, at least for me, with TG:KoR was that in a matter of 8 days, I recieved KoR, Primal, and Robinson Crusoe CE (+ book of adventures) pledges. RC was fairly easy to table and Primal had been such an anticipated game that KoR took a backseat and I just haven't gotten around to it. I do really want to play it, timing just threw me off a bit and now it's still sitting on my shelf.
Ай бұрын
Right? One is too much sometimes and also not enough!
@Mepper.Ай бұрын
I didn't get any of these. There were several that I was very interested in like Voidfall and Isofarian Guard but I ultimately decided they were too big or too expensive for me. I still have Terraforming Mars Dice Game on my watch list but I doubt I'll ever pick it up because there are just so may other games vying for my attention.
Ай бұрын
That's probably the biggest thing for TM Dice for me too. I like it a lot. But I have a lot more stuff that I like even more...
@SllohcinАй бұрын
Clash for Eternia is fantastic! One of the best (light) skirmish games available IMO (and the Gamefound campaign ** Europe ** has not delivered yet so I expect we'll see a surge over the next few months). It also sports a solid amount of Homebrew content. This is one of those games where the IP has overshadowed the game so most folks that own it are associated with the IP itself and not necessarily board games (so Masters of the Universe forums / groups, etc.)
@normstewart546Ай бұрын
I really like all three TM games.
@draheim90Ай бұрын
For me Legacy of Yu was really good the first few plays (albeit also long) but once I “solved” it it became incredibly procedural and without enough to disrupt just doing the same thing over and over and easily winning (unless you got unlucky early but then you took a quick L and fired off another game). After like 5 or so games I was done with it and only slogged through the rest of the campaign to see the end then promptly sold it.
Ай бұрын
Interesting. i hear a lot of the opposite as well
@draheim90Ай бұрын
That’s encouraging at least. I can only speak to my experience but after figuring out how to consistently win (around game 4), each game had a “hump” in the early stage that once I got over I could run the same loop ad nauseam (stalling and acquiring every card possible basically while only advancing when the flood was about to overtake me) to essentially mathematically guarantee a victory. It may be this was only possible because I lost the first game and thus had an advantage the rest of the way, and also intentionally tanked the 3rd game to permanently remove something that got added after winning the 2nd so I didn’t have to deal with it again. But happy to hear others may find it more replayable.
@TheplaysthetАй бұрын
I play legacy of yu lots on my channel I just think set up and gameplay sit really well for me as a more solo board gamer. I’m on my 3rd run through of the campaign. Def my most played and fave Shem Philips game. I hope he does make another one soon.

like i said, i'd be shocked if they didnt do something again with it given how much people like yourself seem to really love it.
@TheplaysthetАй бұрын
Yeah I agree. Another solo game must be in the works!
@wiblickАй бұрын
Agree, it's baffling to me that Garphill haven't gone with either more content for Legacy of Yu, or used the same mechanic with a different theme. I'd buy it....

How is Tainted Grail KoR a lifestyle game? Is any game you spend 50h on a lifestyle game to you? Also I think most people seem to prefer OG Nemesis to the sequels and the original Tainted Grail was still fairly well-received overall despite the shortcomings so I don't think it's always best to wait for sequels with TG. But might want to factor in a potential 2.0 update pack, that's true. 😅
Ай бұрын
Yes! i would say anything that's 50h is. I mean a couple hours a week playing it and thats months of your life playing it.
@MaVarconАй бұрын
Fair enough I guess, to me a couple of months isn't a lifetime. :D KDM, WH40K, Dungeon Universalis, GH/FH those are lifetime games imo. Games you can play for years without anything else.
Ай бұрын
@@MaVarcon For sure. I mean, i also think of others like myself with 3 kids, a full time job, and realizing that the common complaint online from folks is sometimes like only 1 game night every 1-2 weeks. This for sure would meet lifestyle qualifications for them if you could only do like 3-4 hours a month.

You may want to reconsider your Dragon Eclipse segment, as most of the info you have given is incorrect. As of update #30 on Oct 9 for Dragon Eclipse, "With the development of Dragon Eclipse completed and all files sent to the factory, we’ve finally kicked off mass production!" This means things are finalized and all modes are finalized. Plastic production is underway and files will be in production soon. The game is expected to be in backers hands starting in December or January, which is far from being "way late."
@DrMetalpinАй бұрын
I hope this is correct, but I’ll honestly just believe it when I see it. Lot of things will have to happen between now and shipping.
Ай бұрын
This was filmed at the beginning of the month when the info was accurate. But yes the latest update says that, though i doubt that if production isn't done until at the earliest the end of month, that even January might be tough to pull off
