Great video! It helps a lot! ❤ My poor moon cactus got an infection a bit ago, and died off entirely. It was 7-8 years old. How do I stop infection from occurring in my plant? I think when I grafted, my moon cactus pup got infection from the un-sanitized counter, how would I get rid of that potential infection that sticks between the rootstock and the scion like my first grafting ended up? 😅

I think its ok to just leave it on that side. And when it grow, graft it :)

What care should be taken for these plants?
@succulentsforbeginners Жыл бұрын
It's the same as caring for regular cactus, except you need to graft when propagating :)

If the top part cannot survive on it's own since it does not have chlorophyll, how does it survive in it's natural habitat? What is it's natural habitat?
@Saamniferu2 жыл бұрын
Its genetically modified, so natrually they are green and produce clorophyll. They do not need to be grafted on to another plant to survive in the wild.
@asmrtpop2676 Жыл бұрын
The purple and green ones are natural.
@succulentsforbeginners3 ай бұрын
This is a mutant, it simply can not survive without grafting. In it's natural habitat it will only live while it is attached to the mother plant, once removed it can not live

Can u put more than 1 pup on
@succulentsforbeginners2 жыл бұрын
yes, I've done this in my older videos. One pup will grow faster while the other will grow slower because they are sharing resources

My moon cactus is ugly, but cute at the same time.
@drblood15592 жыл бұрын
Okay, saying that they can't live on their own was very helpful, I probably would've tried to propagate them in the future then fail because it cant survive on its own
@nikavysotskaia6720 Жыл бұрын
If the scion is outgrown by the rootstock, could it be re-grafted onto the the same rootstock?
@succulentsforbeginners Жыл бұрын
Yes it can as long as the rootstock is still healthy. Otherwise, its bet to graft on a new rootstock :)

I do not understand this. How is it Mother Nature can grow these plants withOUT grafting??? Or is this yet again, something we humans have messed up? There is no grafting of plants in nature.
@succulentsforbeginners Жыл бұрын
It is a mutant, it's like a special child that needs special care otherwise it will not survive :)

@succulentsforbeginners3 жыл бұрын
Hi Neno Vuletic, thank you for watching! IF this is a joke for you, you might want to share your experience about moon cactus to us, we would love to hear it :)
@nenovuletic59473 жыл бұрын
@@succulentsforbeginners Ok, the green part of the moon cactus does not grow at all during the short period this plant is alive, and the bond between the two is strong there is no way that the grafted part will fall off. Take one in your hand and see for yourself.
@succulentsforbeginners3 жыл бұрын
@@nenovuletic5947 Thank you for your thoughts. I think you misunderstood the video. It will not fall off as what you think like holding the scion and rootstock to see if it will fall off. The scion will fall off overtime as the rootstock grows faster than the scion since the rootstock is normally fast grower than the scion, it will fall off for sure when the rootstock outgrows the scion. This is from our experience and research. Would like to know your thoughts on this part of their growth?
