iiser mohali student here. i think if you are interested in pure science and want to pursue it as a career, and you are decently hardworking, then you can fairly comfortably survive in iiser. and getting internships is not easy but not too hard either. basically do not come if you are not interested in pure science and want placement right after graduation .and if you want to become a researcher then to build a good career in research you will ofc have to work hard.

-- read with patience -- One of the reason i choose iiser pune over mbbs was my interest for physics. Now that i have been through 1 semester i am quite dissapointed. The physics that i studied here is not at all like that of jee or neet, like i used to enjoy solving hard problems but here the entire focus is there on theoritical aspect. In Sem 2 we are having 2 math courses running simultaneously(Calculus 2 n Linear algebra). My friend from ISI kolkata after seeing this cirriculum says that how the hell are you going to focus on other subjects when you have these 2 'heavy' math courses. I had a myth that one has to study lesser here than in mbbs which got completely shattered. I had to spend sleepless nights before exams and still managed to get only 8.6 sgpa. It is not that flowery as it is shown from outside that you just complete your 4 years and then fly abroad for a phD. Only after coming to iiser did i get to see some harsh realities. If you are not great in studies ,then its actually hard to survive with dignity in iiser.

I Agree , the maths here is completely different from what we studied in our JEE , like we always solved problems we were given problems and we used to try and find the answers by solving , What is happening here is the maths is prove based like you need to write paragraphs in maths its completely different and mind boggling . Anyways , your CGPA is really good , in my department as of now only 3 people have a a CGPA of above 8 .

Namaste Didi, I am a jee aspirant, I am giving this exam against my will and the exam is just 2 weeks from now. I have always been very passionate about particles especially the emerging field of quantum computing and the mission to expand qubits. I am determined and ready to work hard for the subject my only concern is about me not being smart enough. Also money isn’t my priority, I would be happy working part-time to suffice day to day food and rent. Research as I know it is the closest thing to purpose I have in my life, I have been severely depressed for the past few years and the only thing that keeps me afloat is working on my goals and learning. I hate the jee pattern, the rigorous question solving without ever understanding the core, I love the depth and complexity in topics. I wish I never chose jee and just did experiments and learnt physics these past two years but unfortunately I have ended up in a very miserable situation where I might not even clear the cutoff for advance. I wouldn’t give up studying if, alas I end up in a not so good college, I have a passion, I am just not sure if I would be able to carry through bcoz I consider myself to be dumb, but yes after failing here, I will not repeat the mistakes and hardwork is what I want, keeps me distracted, keeps me going and brings worth to my otherwise useless existence. I genuinely want to study I just am not sure if I am capable enough. About internships and running after professors I am good at that department, extroversion comes naturally to me. In all, how is the scope for physics research and the discrimination against women in the field? any advices from your side will be very helpful. Thank you for the video.

I mean it is not like you have to study all day long at IISER. Everyone had their own ways of enjoying their time. Many students from my batch got PhDs and some got jobs also in good companies. But some of your points are valid. If you just want a job after a degree, IISER is not not the best place.

Hii dii.... I have a question in my mind..... Apne kaha ki hame iiser pe jake bio padhna hota hai agar ham pcm students hai tab bhi.... To agar mai 11th me pcm hi bass padhu or bio ekdam upar upar se padu(jitna iat ke syllabus me hai) to kya waha jake mereko koi problem hoga.....?! Ya mujhe 11th or 12th me bio ka pura syllabus cover karna padega? Second thing ki waha coding kaha use hota hai.... I mean what is the use of coding in research? I am in class 10th now... I am hoping to get iiser.... Please reply my question if u are free 🙏

Please dii or any IISERite , guide me .... I am in first year MBBS in AIIMS Deoghar. Could not have enjoyed in academics in my firsr 8 months, here ... So, wild thoughts are coming like giving IAT once more and leaving this hell like place for me . .. Last year, i had offer from IISc Banglore, and from iiser pune also (as had AIR 27 in IAT & a obc candidate) We, with 2 friends, became regional topper of mimamsa 2024 though 😅.. but yeah this region was comparetively with weaker collages.. i mean, you know ... So, please ..your piece of advice may safe my this 1 year + upcoming years

@@weird_anjalii No I am not from IISER. I have finished my education decades ago. But at my workplace I do assess interns from IISER, IITs, ICT and similar colleges. I am also involved in recruiting new talent. If you study for the joy of learning and work hard towards excellence, success and placement will be byproduct of that.

So the thing is there is no guarantee even of a IAT topper to hold their same level of supremacy. Yes, and it's true because being a researcher and scientist requires intense dedication throughout the Journey. I have questions for you ,didi 1) clearing IAT and completing BSMS dual degree from IISERmeans someone is eligible to be called as Scientist ? 2) Do every students get the oppotunity to study P.H.D. in abroad?

Didi I am in class 12. From my jee score i can get IIITD and DTU cse and NIT delhi electrical. My dream was always to get into iit not because i wanted to persue engineering but to get exposure and to find out what i really wanna do in my life. From my jee journey i came to realise that i am not really good with question solving skill but I really enjoy the theory and I try to get as deep as possible. My teachers from kota even recommended that I am good for research rather than engineering. What should I do, I am really confused. And I am not at all good at cheating. My financial backgroung is very weak and I cant affort to just study for 10 years, I have to support my family within 4-5 years.
